Doctor Skids

Yep! Site instant messenger has arrived! It's called Prillian and you can launch it by clicking on the "

Launch Prillian" link in your tool bar near the top. You can change your preferences in there also. Keep in mind this is a "new" thing for most any phpBB based forum, and there will be some things we need to work out, but it seems to be working fine, of course you will need to allow popups for it work properly.

This is nifty! Not sure if I can work it. Maybe it's just that my friends are ignoring my messages Razz

I get little notification noises but I can't tell what they mean. They aren't PMs. Any insight?

It seems also this conflicts with the PM system I have here, I will be working to relieve the "phantom" pm's as soon as possible.

I loved getting one...so cool. I couldn't send one out. Am I a klutz at it? How does it opperate? I only got that sweet little computer noise that goes "doyng" when ya hit something wrong.

Jen and I tried this out last night. I was able to send to her, but I didn't recieve the PMs she sent to me. Could it be due to a setting that I have on or the fact that I was also on MSN?

Couple of questions. You who are not receiving messages, do you have popups turned on for this site? And for Brady. Some of the names in the list are in italics and others are not. I THINK I have figured out the ones not in italics are not getting my messages...is that right? Why is that?

Also - what does the buddy list do?

Ok, mine seems to be working ok. I have been able to send and received to at least four different people.

I do have a problem though. I am now getting emails saying that I got a new PM. I thought I had turned that thigy off before, but maybe the addition of Prillian has turned it back on or added a new one?

Yeah these are the "Ghost" PM's I was speaking of. I will work them out soon as I can. I am afraid though, that if I can't, I will have to remove the instant messenger lol. I am pretty sure it has something to do with receiving an IM when you are offline.

You guys asking about the name in italics: the name in italics mean they are logged into Prillian and will recieve your IM message when you send it. Those that are not in italics mean they do not have thier Prillian window open, so they are not logged into Prillian. But they are online browsing the forums and will get your IM when they open thier Prillian window.

Silly Funnymush - thanks for the explanation! I figured that was it. Smile

Ok, I won't remove it hehe. I have figured that it uses the "base" privmsg system that phpbb uses. I have installed a mod called "advanced privmsgs" and it does things slightly differently. I will work with it more over the next while to try and either remove that function from the IM mod or make it work with the better privmsg system. I will probably write the author on his site to figure this out lol.

I haven't got any IMs, though I get plenty of sound alerts about them. I hope no one thinks I am ignoring them. I send IMs but no idea if they are going through (LadyZ, Dr Skids, couple others...). If anyone wants to test it out with me, call me in-game. Then we will both know what I can and can't do since it looks like there is a range of possible outcomes.
