Just a dull news flash from test to those who are wondering what's up over there.
Nothing...lots and lots and lots of nothing.
There are two toons alive and well in Test Town district. I am one of them. I think Bear Essentials is the other one. We've bumped into each other at the Brrrg fishing hole where we can continue to not catch rare species while watching the road blocks to Polar Place.
I do think that there are 3 or 4 of us with access. Skip, are you still on? We were on the server that remained operational and because we didn't leave, we didn't get the message that it's down. I'm a computer dummy, so I really can only guess how on earth we managed to stay on through this shut down. I have found that I can exit and change toons and so that is what I think is happening with the other 2 toons that are not showing up in the districts (current count is 2) but come on occasionally. When the count goes up, I tp over to the Brrrg to see if some devs have come to try out the new street. I honestly wouldn't mind playing with them and being there when they test it out.
The downside: it's very lonely. I have tasks to take down 5 story cashbot bldgs in ddl and I'm just not even gonna try to solo that one. How about a vp? I have the merits, but I lack the Bessies, unite tus, and LOMs to attempt it. I took tasks for number crunchers and bossbots and I've managed to complete those just fine and any other single cog tasks that I could find. The down side of this is that I have achieved several days of tasks, laff points, fishing, gifting from my lousy catalogue and fishing again...and like the last time I had a toon in this position and tt decided to reinstall everybody from a backup disk, I could very easily be back where I started from weeks ago and all of it would be lost. I'm not really motivated to play with that threat hovering over my head.
Another huge downside: Clover wishes that test wasn't occupying the good computer. The dood is swimming away at his test estate when she would like to be using that computer to pound the CFO. We tried to go into test on that account on the dinosaurputer so neither of us would care how long he swam away. Like everybody else, we can't get on...even on the account that is on at the moment. So, we are managing to play on open with slower computers just so we can keep a close eye on Polar Place and the district toon count.
Interesting note perhaps: When there are only 2 toons, there are less cogs. There were hours and hours without a single bossbot in ddl. I could run the entire streets of MM with my smaller toons looking for a cog and only encounter a few cogs. TTC seemed to have about 3-5 cogs per street. It occured to me that it was entirely possible to rid all of a playground of every single street cog there.
I can hardly wait for you all to come join me again. I'm not very optimistic about this having anything to do with Law HQ. I think it's the billing bug and is a headache to them and a downer for us. To add to the Eeyore, Puddleglum mentality I slip into sometimes, I think it could set them back on their scheduled opening since this billing thing was unexpected. They will either do the Microsoft thing and open on schedule with so many problems and things that don't work...but ....keeping to the all-powerful schedule, that our playing time will be mostly filling out bug reports. Or....they won't be able to meet their deadlines, and the billing issue will seriously set back the law hq testing time. I think they will meet their announced opening dates for hq on open. Which means much less time to test it, and like GSW, it'll come out on open still green behind the ears and harrassing everybody. Now, I'll go find a thistle patch to enjoy.
I'll keep you all posted. You'll be the first to know if there is any change in anything on test.
Lonely tester,
Vickie

I failed to mention...lol...that the toon with that task isn't the dood. That toon is gag deprived and proudly wears 70 laff. Who is Bear Essentials? Is that Skip?

No Vickie, I'm not on anymore, and not Bear Essentials. I logged off Wednesday night late because I was sick of playing on open on the "kid's computer", and thought that maybe it wouldn't come back up until all of us gave in and logged off. I'm trying to remember who Bear Essentials is, and when my memory kicks back in, will post her name.

Nice post Vickie!
It's like having a reporter in some foreign far off country that none of us have access to. But it's like a neophyte reporter, "uhhh yeah, you go cut your chops over in the location where nothing newsworthy is happening."
So fascinating and yet so tedious. You have both my heartfelt thanks and heartfelt apologies.
You know, you could make up exciting tales too and we'd never know the difference! LOL
I wonder if the Devs can even get on.
(Note to Brady - added "Vickie" and "LOL" to spellchecker, what fun!)

Tired of swimming. That is saying a lot from a duck.
Tired of fishing in the Brrrg. Street remains blocked at all times.
Tired of checking the districts and finding I'm the only inhabitant of test.
Tired of being alone, so you'll find me in the factory on open. Test is a terrible place without you all there.
Would you hurry back please?

Don't the files on your computer will have to be updated to accommodate the new street and new features?
You keep mentioning looking for the new street, so was wondering how you would do that if your version of TT files hasn't been updated with the new features.
But if they haven't shutdown the server yet, means they still working on the billing problem. Oh Boy!

They have to take the servers down to update it with the new software for Polar Place. I'm thinking now they went on vacation and forgot to turn the switch off!

I wonder if having a toon left on the server is preventing something from happening.... Don't see any purpose on staying on, but maybe it would help to log out?

I doubt it, when we need to update our servers, we drainstop people off the ones we want to update and for the last few lingerers that don't leave, we just boot them off.
I think they they just shut down access to be left alone while they work on the development server (Polar Place and LBHQ) and/or to work on the access problem and avoid getting anymore calls.

Here is a screenie of one of my toons checking the districts for inhabitants.
As you have already enjoyed, hopefully, I am plankton in the computer land food chain. Go ahead, tell me what's going on at Disney. Please, share your knowledge. We all want to know the ways and workings of servers, programers, developers, and anything that pertains to the opening deadlines of lawbot HQ.
I agree that nothing is about to happen while I remain on test just hanging out. We have all been booted when they wanted to make the most minor of program adjustments. We've been booted with 5 min. warning and with no warning, but we've never been allowed to remain while they did it. My being there is a bad thing from that viewpoint....bad, very bad, very very very bad. It means they are not using this time to enter the new data. Good grief, they aren't even ready to enter the new programing. The best news would be that I'm off test and the downloading has begun.
I don't think my voluntarily leaving so they can finally have their site back and start to work is valid reasoning. I think I am serving a purpose for all of us to know when action is beginning. Other updates and big changes required about 3 hours to install and reopen. When I can report that I've gotten the exciting blue screen of death, we can all start to get excited that maybe, just maybe, they are entering a fix or a new street.
In our home, the restrictions on Vickie's hotrod computer are driving us completely crazy. I was vping on the computersauras last night and the lag made it almost impossible to use any speed chat. If Disney continues to delay opening test, I might have to reboot the rod and take it back for some decent boss action. My hopes that it's coming any minute have dimmed. My hopes that I'll see the street open, that I'll see a dev arrive in a district.....are gone completely.
Eeyore's off looking for more thistles to munch.

I think Disney is doing some sort of psychological study of Vickies' toons. Say, are Fishermans Freud and Jung still in DDL?

Always nice to wake up in the morning and check the status of test and find it just the way I left it....NOT!
Yesterday, Mike took a few spins on the race track for kicks. Boy, did that bog down the ram! I was sleeping a sweet Sunday afternoon nap or I'd very happily have offered him Skippy (open) for his racing pleasure.
Five days of tt without a reboot is stretching it anyway. The race track is an ugly graphics download in my opinion. The results are that Toad doesn't move so well anymore, but he has a few more tickets from practicing at GSW.
Then for further kicks Mike took that new toon with 15 laff all over toontown, running down all the streets and clearing the clouds off the map. He didn't get an eraser from a cog though. As long as he doesn't fish with the cash uber, I'm ok with his freedom to dink around with my test account while I'm napping away.
Monday would be a good day to open law don't ya think? Could it happen today?
Mike told me this morning, "It doesn't rain on tt." (Rain represents gloom and depression) "but it snows in the Brrg."
TT isn't without some wet stuff dampening the nice day.
Hope you have a nice day. See you on open, since I can't tolerate the lonliness of test, even though there is lots I could accomplish with my toons there.

Hopefully anything you've done while you are the Lone Survivor will carry over when they re-open! As for the dampness in TT, don't forget the fog in DD!

Besides the fog, it's just plain DARK in ddl. To add to the misery I have tasks for 4 story and 5 story cash buildings there. Maybe somebody could come on and give me a helping hand with those tasks? Having lost all my progress in the last reseting, I'm not in a hurry to do anything that would upset me terribly if I lost it all. I'm on sentry duty, watching for any movement in the barrenness. Goofy is still wandering about and he's fairly entertaining to chat with.
