I have been playing this game for 2 years now.. Can't believe it has been that long lol.. Trying to remember back when I first started doing the VP on Pink. At that time it was still hard and I wasn't running with the CCG yet mostly ran with a group of 5 friends Deputy Monty being one of them. When we did the VP/Factory it was all about speed using sound to blast through everything so that we could do as many VPs as possible. Then I found the CCG and had to learn to play as a team and use strategy talk about a different way of thinking.
Anyway, these past few weeks I have seen more and more gag building in the VP/CFO with the CCG than I have seen since I started running with this group. From low traps on big cogs to toons going off on their own to trap a different cog. I just can't seem to grasp WHY these toons do this knowing that it will put everyone at risk. Is it really worth the points? If you are going to be a lone trapper/dropper and go for a cog on your own at least make sure you have to power to kill it!
I can't remember being a newb on Pink but I sure hope I didn't play like this..
Anyway that is my rant for today lol...

Maybe they really DON'T know they are putting everyone at risk. To combat the trap exercise...heh heh...What I will sometimes do if needed is to wait till last second and then trap on their trap. Makes em mad, but too bad! Better than everyone getting whacked!

I have seen the same thing. Small traps and sound mostly.
The one that got me last night when I was in VP was when I was on a side with 3 for the skelecog round (me at 116, a 57 and a 52). The 52 kept saying "Let's use lure" and would pull out his cute little red magnet on the level 12's. He knew I had good lure and the 57 had the blue magnet. Now lately the goggles are having a hard time hitting, so what did he think his lure would do? I would say "no", "you should choose a different gag" (quickly so he'd have time to change), let him change and pull out my goggles or blue magnet. The one time I decided to help the other toon get one of the cogs and let him lure the lvl 8 it naturally missed.
My feeling was that he wanted to work his gag or really was new and didn't know how risky using a low level lure was. The one thing I do have to say, though, is that it is MUCH worse with random runs. The other day I was in a random CFO and all the other 3 toons would use a different small trap on 3 different cogs (all over lvl8). I wanted to use sound and they would say... "no", " I'm going to use trap". Lets just say that was NOT a fun CFO.

I'm right there with ya. I know yesterday we were both venting on toons training their gags and putting the group in danger for it. Happened in Cfo and VP. Its all a matter of teamwork. There is an obvious lack of it if someone decides to go off on their own agenda, despite the group's needs and well-being. I think a big factor of seeing this increase in the CCG is the added number of runs and non-CCG toons joining us.
I guess I'm ranting with you, too! Ok, I feel better, now off for more pumpkin pie!

You have hit on one of my pet peeves Pink. I usually write off small toons working small trap or drop as kids who don't realize the danger they are putting themselves and the smaller toons on the team in. The ones that really get under my skin are the toons over 100 laff who are working to max out their last gag track. They should be experienced enough to know the risks, but don't seem to care if one of the little toons on the team goes sad because of it. I don't know if it is more common but I notice it more now, especially since I have started playing on Little Igor.

I understand what you are saying here. After playing a uber and being sent back to the PG over gag workers I am a lot more aware of bad players. I TRY to be more patient with it at the CFO because toons are higher laff there but let my feelings be known if I see this kind of play at the VP when sided with lower laff toons.
Maybe it is just me but you hardly ever see bad players get the "mean phrases" on CCG when they play badly. Maybe we try to be more understanding. I have quite a few "special" phases on my ubers though that let them know they messed up lol..
I couldn't believe you had the luck of being sided with another trap worker after the one we had in the CFO LadyJ.. Welcome to Toontown!

Ratsoshmatso mentioned one of my favorite things to do when I see marbles on a 12 and I don't have one of my drop toons. I will wait to pick last and throw a set of nanners on top Usually gets me stinkys, but oh well! Since some of the best Toons I know think I stink anyway I'll take it as a compliment. Since that cog didn't get to strike anyone, it was worth it to me!
I have never worked gags in VP or CFO, and usually after poofing their trap will tell them "It isn't on this street", lets go take over a cog building!

I don't remember being a noob either so can't recall exactly if I did this or not. But I am quite sure I did. I had no idea what would kill what or that a lower level gag was less likely to hit or anything. Also I remember I had no idea what lure was (I picked it last and didn't check into it till much later in my toon's life) and had the mistaken idea I think a lot of noobs have, that it is better to hit two toons and injure them, as if that makes their attacks weaker...I honestly had no idea and maybe if they don't know what it takes to kill, they think you have that cog covered. I am quite sure anyone who had the misfortune of running with me back then, hated my guts!!
I try to remember this when running with toons who do this stuff and just repeat over and over, let's go for the same cog. I think you can tell the difference between the ignorant and the griefer and I really think most of these just don't know. I never heard not to work gags in the VP till I started running with CCG and actually read the guidelines.

This is one topic I have been thinking about for a while lately. I had always believed that boss battles were no place to work gags. I was quite surprised on day when I was in a ccg cfo and complimented someones piano and said "I haven't found that yet" to which she replied "lets work on that" so I got a few good drops in during that battle. I never would have considered using them (why I even carry them to the cfo I don't know) but I did not turn down the opportunity and we had all high laff people so I know that it wasn't likely causing any serious danger.
So I do believe you can work gags in these battles if you do it with some intelligence. Sure work your low level trap but make sure someone else is on board and will take out the cog for you. And if someone else is working their trap that round wait your turn. I now will take what opportunity I have to work some of my gags but only when it will benefit the situation and not to the detriment of others. I am also especially careful of the little toons. My lure is not maxxed out yet but I will gladly pull out my big mag or goggles to help out as I can't depend on others with maxxed lure all the time either.
I absolutely hate when I am working with a couple of little toons that insist on fighting with each other as to who gets to work their trap or lure etc. And when all I had was small mag it never came out in boss battles or big buildings. Not worth the grief.
That said most of my gag working is in the mint with secret friends that are on board with my plan. Darn I want that piano so bad!
So there is my .02 for what it is worth.

I've also been encouraged to train those last few points for my piano at one CFO, but I was also the lowest laff toon. That CFO was great fun, not only because I was able to walk away with my piano, but also because of everyone using their cupcakes, flowers, and bike horns to keep things interesting. Of course, I would have never thought of training my drop, or of using the level 1 gags if it wasn't for the group that I was in there with, but as a break from normality, it was great fun.
