How Did You Choose Your Toon(s) Name???
View Single PostView Single Post

Just wondering how people came up with their toon(s) names.... Random? A whim on the Select A Name from TT or Deep Thought into it?

Since I am starting this thread, I guess I'd better start... Which is really silly how I got my name...

Personally, my kids asked for help. I said I'd check into it when they went to bed. Not wanting to "help" one child and not another, (If I went on their toon), I saw 6 toons could be made, so clicked to make a new toon.... Little did I know I would become HOOKED and then did not want to start with a "new toon," after spending the next 10 hours in TT.... And MANY hours after that! So, I was at the prompt thing for a name in TT and thought QUEEN was a good place to start.... Made me feel in control of my 5 kids and once again deploying husband to Iraq..... Then it was "Queen of what?" Hmmmmm... Wanting to get TO the game and figure out the kids' problem, I didn't put ALOT of thought into it.... So was looking at Disney's choices and combos of names.... (instead of original name(s))... I then Thought about the night before when I tripped on the blasted cat (Gus) while I was running down the stairs with a basket of laundry, (cuz my knee was still hurting) and thought it MUST have been the sound of Thunder..... THUD..... When I landed.... (Doing remodeling and there was no hand rail or a way to break my fall and instinct was hold on to the basket of folded laundry) So THAT is how I came up with my name.... Queen Thunderthud..... Cuz my knee was what I was thinking about at the time. LOL So how did YOU choose a name?

To get the record straight right away, I am not an obsessed fan of Sesame Street! When I first started toontown, I really had no idea what was going on. I looked at the name generator after I had made my little monkey and it was Super Bert Something. I didn't like whatever the something was, so I took it off... and hence Super Bert was born. So, almost competely random. I didn't care too much, I just wanted to get to the game, and I didn't really plan on playing any longer than that night... I later on quit toontown, and with my account, lost Super Bert. When I started again a few months later, I didn't know about restoring your account, and old toons, so I just started over again from scratch. Because I had grown attached to my old toon, I decided to resurrect Super Bert, so used the same name, the same look and everything. So, the Super Bert you now all know and love (hee hee) was made on purpose, the first was just by the random generator.

Since then, I have made other toons, and of course, where there is a Super Bert, there most certainly should be a Super Ernie (you can also make that name with the name generator). So, that's the story for my Super Bert and Super Ernie!

When I started Toontown, I made Prince Graham Fuzzysnooker plannning on only playing the free three day trial. I played Prince exclusively for the longest time, until he had the task for 100 five story sellbot bldgs. I got so frustrated with that task I decided to make a second toon. I used the name generator for Cricket Crinklesnout next. Then I decided to name a toon myself and made Mighty Mouse. I really wish they would take her name back, since I really don't like her name much.

Thunder Thighs was the first "creative" named toon I made. I saw a fat horse running down the street while playing on Prince, and the name came to me. I was so happy that they approved the name. The day monkeys were available, Banana Brain was born. I still had one available slot on my first account, and I really wanted a dog, so Ivana Firehydrant was next. I loved playing her so much, and wanted a "family" of firehydrants. I got a second account, and created Juana Firehydrant, my first uber toon. Once his gags were maxed, Anita Firehydrant came next, then Christina Firehydrant (still in Donalds Dock). Since my big toons were into heavy merits and bucks, I wanted a teleport toon, so I made my duck Anita Breadcrumb. She loves to stink toons I know while she is standing at the elevators in sell or cash hq, so don't be surprised if that nasty duck gives you a good stinking if she see you. Thunder Thighs sister, Plump Lump was created last, but she is still in TTC at a whopping 16 laff. Once of these days she will get out and play.

My story is rather like yours... my daughter, Isabella, wanted me to make my own toon. So, it was easy picking the rabbit and the color blue, but then the name came up. I used the name generator. I thought Loopy was a good start as I felt stupid making a toon. lol! Then Rainbow seemed to go w/ Loopy. Blubbersnooker just made the kids laugh, so it took. It was only after I started playing and seeing people w/ these cool names that I realized how creative some people can be... I've seen Rusty Patty O'Furniture, Mr and Mrs Cal Q Lator. Hey, love Thunder Thighs, too... I think I've seen that toon around. You would think when I made my baby toon to help in buildings that I would have been more creative... instead Loopy Rainbow Jr. was born (a cat this time... gosh, that Owoooo sounds much better on a cat or dog than a rabbit LOL). The only creative name I've used (and took me forever to find one that Disney would accept) was Cup O'Tea. Unfortunately, poor little toon is sitting, unused in Toon Central. Maybe when "Sr." gets her keys to something then she will get some playtime. Smile

However Super Bert and also Super Ernie got here, on purpose, or by being randomly generated, I think its great, and I'm glad you created them. Very Happy

My Princess Boo Boo was created because, first I like the Princess (Too many boy things at this house!!) and Boo Boo was actually taken from Boo Boo, I love Boo Boo from the Hanna Barbara cartoons....LOL...Go figure huh? Not so much that my toon looks anything like him at all, just liked the name.

My first Toon Nicole's Green Duckling (hmm I didn't steal it from my daughter Nicole)was named by my Daughter, she was trying the 3 day trial, made the duck put in Nicole's and called me to spell Green Duckling. She was only 4 at the time and couldn't read the tasks, so I pitched in and helped her, before I knew it she was making another Toon because NGD was out of TTC. After maxing NGD in later release of Sellbot HQ I decided to make a Lady Di. Since I went by Di to most of my friends on TT and in Real life, getting married and having Children around the same time as the real Lady Di, I got the nickname in real life by so many I thought it fit great with a Toon. Both Aunt Di's were created for a sweet Teen that use to play TT. Little Dizzy Dizzenhopper had a whole TT family, a mom, dad, granny, aunts and uncles. Since I was Aunt Di to her I made not only one but two since we played together so often. I made a Lil Lady Di in between my two Aunt Di's. Toasted Toon's name kept getting regected, I think I started out with Burntout (since 5 had already maxed Sell, Crispy Kritter (which I've seen after mine was rejected), a few others before I finally put in Toasted Toon one day and it got approved. Not sure I really ever liked the name, but now stuck with it.

Lady Zippy Boingenpretzel was born as many were - as a joke because my kids were hounding me! I made the goofiest looking toon I could think of (hence the tall and "shapely") and played with the name generator until I found the silliest name I could find. Of course as someone already said, by the time I realized I was hooked I did not want to start over (in fact it never occurred to me to make a second toon until black cats came out, and even then *I* did not make one, I was Lady Zippy Boingenpretzel, how could I have more than one toon?!?!)

On that first black cat day my son made Quigley, naming him, of course, for a character in "A Series of Unfortunate Events". At the time in the series Quigley was presumed dead, and he was a mysterious and most interesting character (we were thrilled later that he turned up alive Wink). Since black cats are mysterious, he chose that name. (they made an Isadora and Duncan this Halloween, though the surname Quagmire was rejected at least 30 times and in multiple spellings. They did, however, find that they could get doodles named Quagmire, so they did. These toons are still hibernating in TTC for the time being.) Evan worked him about halfway through TTC (and 40 fish, sadly) before offering him to me (yes, contrary to his assertion that I "stole" him!).

Grease Monkey Z was part of a clan formed on an adult TT board, where the girl toons were identical bunnies named Pink Lady ______ and the boys were ID monkeys named Grease Monkey ______. I chose Z because by then, thanks to my first sf, I had become known simply as "Lady Z". I still see a few Pink Ladies around but I think all the monkeys quit the game. The CCG member named Grease Monkey is not part of our clan.

Lady and Baron Von Loopengrooven were made as a couple (hubby and me) and coordinating names chosen from the name generator.

Bad Hare Day was an original idea that I immediately learned was not so original, lol. Oh well - it was to me. Great minds think alike! Wink

I have never been creative with names but love seeing those of others. I did finally choose a name for my new horse (not my own idea, of course Rolling Eyes ): If approved, he will be Al Hoof. Thanks to all who made suggestions! Smile

Granny Pickles was born to get my kids giggling. Like Lady Z I was looking to make a funny looking toon, and of course my son thought how funny it was going to be if others thought I were a granny. Some Duck was named also from my son's idea from Charlotte's Web Some Pig. Madame Leota was "taken" from my daughter her name also came from my son from the movie Haunted Mansion.
I had 3 toons now yet still never named any myself, then along came Sweetie Pickles. Yay I finally named my own toon, she is stuck in the Brgh and dreams to max out one day like Granny. I quit open for awhile and went to test and I had a chance to name another. Well there was already a Granny Pickles running around test so I decided on Mya Duckie, which seemed fitting cause this one was mine and not the test Granny Pickles. Princess Lily is my sister's toon who quit TT way back when Granny was in DG. Her toon is old and now stolen lol. She was named after my neice Lily.
Last I made pppickles which was the one toon I put alot of thought behind her name she was a big brat reborn. When TT took away the option to make the faces through sf whispers I found I could no longer : P face to my bratty friend. So I adopted doing just a P in whispers as me sticking my tongue out at him. Since my friend frustrates me often with his oneryness I find I put out an awful lot of PPPP to him. pppickles was made as me constantly sticking my tongue out, what a brat lol.

I picked the name for Doctor Skids just out of the name generator. All my other ones I put thought into:

Austin Quackers - A Toony version of Austin Powers - he even has "flareful" clothing and phrases lol

Ben There - Twin to Dawn That, made as a pair, as in the phrase "Been there, done that"

White Cat - A black cat of course, with a white doodle named Blackie

I named Lucy Lu after the actress who played in the Charlie Angels movies. Around that time that movie was a hit and my daughters and I thought she was one tough chick in that role. I spelled it different to avoid getting rejected by Disney.

Little Lily Kookypop came first as an experiment with the kids to check out the game. Sounded cute so I opted for that on the name generator. Next my son made his toon,
Flapjack Zillernoodle, a large horse. He is very sensitive about his tummy as one very cruel SF exed him because he said he was fat!!!!
My daughter went next with Dippy Von Dizzybee, a small purple monkey.
My five year old went for a very cute pink bunny called Loopy Pinky Petalpop.

We all lived happily ever after until halloween approached.........
Then we all wanted black cats so along came the second account.....This triggered the birth of:
Faust. (my black cat named after the literary character who sold his soul to the devil, appropriate for Halloween I thought.)
Burnt Toast-black cat
Shadow-black cat
Dusk- black cat.

We then saw the birth of Crazy Kippy Zillernoodle and Growlee(bear).

Our final addition is Miss Terri Mouse still in MM. She is my third toon and is very cute and brown.

Our 12th toon is constantly changing as it our guests spot for whoever wishes to play whilst visiting.

You now have the whole family of toons who live in our house. They sometimes get to come out to play when Lily is feeling tired. She is very much the matriarch .

We did many 3-day trials at our house. All the toons were made by my (then) 4-yr. old grandson. One of his favorite toons was Princess Nicky Nuttycorn. One day my hubby told me I might want to learn a little about this on-line game so I could "help" the kid out. (Boy, has he ever regretted encouraging me in that endeavor). We started another 3-day trial and together, the 4-yr old and I began creating one of the homeliest toons we could. I'd been around long enough by then to realize that the simpler the name, the better. We clicked on the random generator and the kid chose the name Deputy Monty.

Later, nothing would do but we make another version of Princess Nicky Nuttycorn....(I talked him out of the Princess). She remains his favorite and he always reminds me I "stole' her.

He quickly filled the account with various toons while I decided to "learn" a little about the game and perhaps build his toon a little bit for him. Well, ya'll know the story. After spending 3 days on Deputy Monty I couldn't quite give him up. We subscribed (I told my hubby for just a month because we were moving) and that was over three years ago.

One by one I took over the toons on the account. Marigold Megazapper was my favorite toon for the longest time but I could never remember her name. I joined the Doggenhoffer clan and much while much of his name was pre-decided we did a random version of the boys' names to name Joby since I had to delete one of their toons too make room for him. Midnight Rose and her black cat counterpart on test, Milky Rose, were given their names by the kids to compensate for the toons I deleted to have room to make them. When I took over the last remaining spot on the account to make an Uber that could skip laff, I allowed the (then) 6 yr old to chose everything about him including his name -- Milky. This made up for the fact I deleted his toon to make this one.

I chose my name on the first beta. I sat down with my then 9 yo g/son and decided to have a "crazy"name hence the Loopy part of it. He chose the crunchybee part on his own as it made him giggle like mad the thought of his Nana crunching her way through bees!

The first beta then deleted my gorgeous Loopy ( a purple duck ) but as I had made so many non sf's in that name I thought that some of them would also be on the second beta so Loopy was reincarnated! Still a purple duck:)

My black cat is Just Purrrfect so you know the name just speaks for itself Mr. Green

Another black cat is Vegi Mite after the yummy black spread that most aussies use on their bread/toast!

Most of the other toon spaces are taken up with the grandchildren's toons.

Hooked by those darn Kids!
View Single PostView Single Post

Like the rest of you I became hooked on TT playing for my son, then 4yrs old since he couldn't read. At the end of the three day trial I subscribed, much to my kids amazement Cool .
I got to Keep Doctor Cricket Twiddlezilla as they wanted to make new toons so she was made initially by my younger daughter.
Little Biscuit Fuzzyface was for my son by my daughter, I took him over pretty quickly thereafter Smile .
The rest of the spots on the account are played by various kids. They are Pikatu (sap?) Rolling Eyes , Miss CocoaBerry Milk, Lady Rosie Poodlezilla (Well I'm taking her over, this daughter doesn't play anymore) Laughing , and Lily, played by the younger daughter, she's been an uber but has decided to take on laugh.
On test I made my first toon Miss Pistachio, a green horse, for myself, my daughter and I share Balsamic Vinegrrr, and I'm trying for a brown Mouse to Be named some Variation Of inconspicuous, I'm on my third variation In spelling for her.

First the prelude - deciding to play TT...

We were fortunate (???) enough to get our hands on a two week free trial. My kids were all excited about it of course and wanted to subscribe right away. I didn't want to have anything to do with a game you had to keep paying for, month after month. I figured you could have a good computer gaming experience by buying the software (one time payment) and then playing it as much as you wanted. Made sense to me. Little did I know...

Audrey made her (first) toon early on too, to get a feel for the game. We had normal parental concerns about our kids playing a MMORPG.

So, about a day into our trial, the kids wanted to subscribe. Our oldest was willing to pay for a month himself. We say, "Maybe." A day or two later, Audrey is starting to go from "checking it out" to "actively playing". A deal is struck where they'll each pay for half. Hmm, okay.

At this point there are three toons on the account, for Audrey and the two boys, all named via the name generator.

I realize the computer is being monopolized for this new game. It's on so much I start to notice interesting elements. But it's just a kids' game. Not my thing. I start getting, "But Dad, you gotta try it!" No thanks. Not my thing.

We were 6 days into our free two weeks when I relented. Okay fine, I'll make a toon, just to satisfy my kids (and a niggling curiosity that was beginning to grow). I made it as cute as I could (no comments on the colour choices please), but then got stuck on the naming. An auto-generated name just would not do. It had to be something original.

I don't even remember what names I tried. My problem was not getting names approved. It was fitting them into the space allowed. I think I had a Frederick von (something) at first, but all the names I tried wouldn't fit. I thought this was criminally unfair, as the auto name generator could result in much longer names, but I was forced to live with the length restriction. So I took out the "von". Still no good. I shortened to "Freddy". Still no good. All the names I really wanted were still too long to fit in the space allowed.

Finally I gave up in frustration and put in Whatzit. Good, that fit. Freddy Whatzit. Didn't matter anyway, as I was only trying this out for an hour or so. It's not like this name was going to stay around very long.

Um, yeah. By the end of the two week trial, my son was off the hook for paying at all. We signed up for a month, paid out of the "family entertainment budget". At the end of that, we switched to the 6 month plan. We now have two accounts, both on the annual plan. We have become realistic about our addiction.

Oh, somewhere early on there our daughter (4 years old) made her toon, Cutie Girl, becoming the second non-auto-named toon in the family. We also made a family toon in the 6th spot, to be shared by all. We tried for the name Sabretooth Kitty, but it was rejected. We didn't know about trying again, so we went with Kewl Kat.

When we got our test account (Woo Hoo, 6 more toons!) we decided to come up with clever original names. Audrey (hope I'm not stealing your thunder by posting all this) came up with Cat Astrophe. I wanted something equally clever, but more obscure. Something that would not be obvious at first glance, but people would really like when they figured it out. So I made Purr Active. The idea is...
Hidden:
When toons TP to me, they say, "Hi, Purr Active". Hyperactive - get it? I sometimes jump around when someone TP's to me, to live up to the name so to speak.

Other test toons include my yellow bear named Brown Monkey (I've posted about his naming history before). Audrey has Lil Piglet (created to test bears, named in protest of pigs losing the election). We also have a shared family toon on test. It's a mouse that our 7 year old named Cat Breath - still one of the best names in our menagerie, IMHO.

With the arrival of our second account we've started making some new toons. I still liked the name Sabretooth Kitty, so I tried it again. It was rejected once, but approved on the second try. Audrey's new toon has an awesome name that we came up with together by complete chance. She was playing TT and made a comment when a wrong gag was chosen. All I caught was the word "miscalculation", so I asked, "Was that a mistake, or somebody's toon name?" She said a mistake, but we both went, "Hmmm, that would be a cool name!" And so Miss Calculation was born.

And that's our collection to date. Still have more spots on open, and hopefully a second test account soon, so there will definitely be more to come.

I still think Brobding Nag would be a cool name for a horse with (as often as possible) the big toon effect. For those who don't know, Brobdingnag is the name of the land of giants from Gulliver's Travels. (Sort of the opposite of the more well known Lilliput, where he's roped down by tiny people.)

So, land of giants --> big toon effect. Can separate out the "Nag" --> horse.

I'd use this myself in a heartbeat if I liked horse toons (no offense anyone, just not for me).

Oh - that sneaky 3 day trial! My cousin got it first and then my daughter HAD to have it at home. She started playing and demanded I at least make a toon. We had been in the car and she had gotten reprimanded for something. At her reaction, I said "Hey Miss Pouty Face!". She told me not to call her names Smile. I said it was such a cute name that I would make it my toon name. That afternoon Miss PoutyFace was born and name accepted immediately.

Mimi McSqueak was part of a clan that was started on another list (of which I'm no longer a member) that never was that strong. You will still see a few of the 'original' McSqueaks around. Mimi is, of course, named for that French chick that died of consumption or whatever!

Miss Terri Novel - well, my favorite reading material, of course! My daughter has some that the randon name generator came up with and Mini Mimi McSqueak (which is pretty cute).

Ok, lets see if I can remember LOL

Trinket - named after a neighborhood cat that was so friendly my kids enjoyed her afternoon visits.
Sugar - named after one of our cats who has since passed away.
Thyme - part of the 'Rat Pack' and all spice names.
Iota Clean - hmmmmm says alot Smile
Ivana Livehere - just wishing I could live there where your biggest worry is a cog!
Gitty Yup - was trying to think of a witty name for a bunny when this horse thing came popping in my mind.
Puff Ball - named after looking at 'Flour' all rolled up and couldnt see her body. She looked like a puffball.
Blue Jean - After TT took 'Jean N. Tonic' and made her Toon I was pretty sad. So I made Blue Jean because of the mood.
Mozee Along - last toon space on test account and figured I'd just Mozee Along with that toon and maybe some day move him out of TTC. Or, if by chance I have the urge to delete it would be easier to remove the smallest one!
Claws-n-Paws - named after my Mobile Dog and Cat Grooming business.
