I'm so slow
View Single PostView Single Post

OK, so today it was as if a light bulb suddenly went off. Yet again some one said "I can't understand you. please be my friend, use the speed chat " and once again I started looking at the secret swapping pages at TTC, CCG and here...nothing, Then like a blinding flash I realize exactly why they were jumping up and down, uttering random phrases and asking me "Did you win?" It's a code! Embarassed OK so I catch on slowly, but I did catch on and then used the code myself to make a secret friend out of a long time friend on another toon. I am soooo excited! Whole new worlds are opening up. Now if I could just figure out how to open messages on Prillian I'd be in good shape..... of course that would mean that someone would have to send me messages, and of course I'd have to try and remember to turn it onn...... hmm still more to learn,*sigh* Laughing

woohooty Dr.CT. It`s great when the penny finally drops. I am in the opposite situation trying to get a friend to understand when I jump up and down madly and utter strange phrases. Lets hope he has a light bulb suddenly go off too.

That's great Margaret! Please just don't make so many new SF that you have to delete us old ones! Laughing I remember my son playing and he was at a non-sf house and we were wondering.....why does he keep rearranging his pictures? Took us a while too! Embarassed

Hee hee. I remember those days. Some of my non-sfs had said "Please be my friend" and "Let's go to my house". I'm thinking what kind of *****, um no thanks. Then one day went to a long time non-sfs house and she started moving furniture. I'm thinking this toon is NUTS!!!! After I logged off that night, the bulb came on - I think she was trying to give me a code to sf. Then I was a bit upset, this game was supposed to be kid safe and sfs made only by giving codes to RL friends. What should I do???? Does Disney know about this? I wonder how they can prevent it from happening?

Well, I decided to go ahead and take the code and give that kid (who of course was an adult) a talking to . . . and the snowball is still rolling LOL

I too didn't understand the jumping until the light bulb went on!!

My first SF introduced me to the world of SF's with pictures!! He had a whole wall full of them, and carefully put each letter up on that wall....LOL (Thanks Bill!!) I stood there, and after a couple of tries, I finally got what he was doing! I then invested in a whole bunch of pictures, but have only one on my wall now...the mouse! LOL So, you're not so slow after all!

Can I make you all laugh and feel better if you thought you were slow????

I had been playing Open for 1.5 years when folks I had as friends were coming to me while fishing or on the street saying 'Please be my friend', 'Sorry, I can't understand you' and 'Let's work on that'. Hmmmm ok being the person I am I said ok with a happy face. Of course, I had no clue what they were talking about, but I wanted to be a good friend. So here is what happened. They would begin using the speedchat (aka the dance). So I repeated EVERYTHING they did because I thought I was being a good friend. When they said 'Did you win?' I'd say 'Did you win?' I figured if I could mimic them, then I WAS being a good friend. It wasn't until Duke Oswald kept bringing me to his house (I almost deleted him thinking this guys was whacked) and made me stand in the middle of his living room while I viewed 20 or so of the same pictures on his wall. (I started to think, why the heck don't you just order new wallpaper???) AHHHH, he spelled out his email. All of a sudden this huge light came on and I started to get excited and nervous. I was about to send an email to a complete stranger. Well, it did work and I got a ton of information from Duke. He is an aussie and he and his girlfriend refused to give up on me. I fit the 'Whatta Marooooon' category big time. I then made it my mission to SF everyone on my list doing the same thing. Sheri beat me to Nicole's Green Duckling and I became her second sf! Oh the memories Smile

I went through the same thing! LOL! My first SF... wow, what patience! I would get the letters from the pictures, look at what I'd written, think, "That is NOT a word!!" HAHAHAHA! It took me a bit, too, and then I went DOH!! Smile

My first memory of the SF dance is vague, because of course at the time I had no clue of what this other person was doing. There was a lot of jumping and a lot of strange speedchat phrases being used. After a while I concluded that the person was either whacked, or a little kid who couldn't read but liked saying random speedchat, and jumping. Seemed to me the quality of play was too good for a kid that young, so I concluded most likely whacked, and logged off. Later I X'd that friend because I thought they were just too weird and I wanted to play the game, not stand around trying to make sense out of meaningless speedchat and watching them jump.

A while later I was reading the thread in TTC where that's all explained and boy did I feel bad. Wish I knew who I X'd, LOL. Hope they don't think I'm a total idiot.

After that my first successful SF dance turned out to be with a kid who I later X'd. I was so excited putting my new understanding to use with my (then) brand new test toon. But the kid was annoying and it didn't take long for me to decide I didn't want him on my list. Learned something from that too.

Since then I've danced several times, but I soooo much prefer swapping codes via mutual friends. It's a heck of a lot easier, and you usually have a good idea that you actually want that person as an SF.

*ahem* I guess for you to recognize someone as being whacked, you would have to have some experience with that yourself, eh? As for them thinking you're a total idiot... Hmmmm..... Wink

I agree with swapping codes through mutual friends rather than random. Luck of the draw that way, and there have been quite a few I've Xed because I realized I didn't like them!

I sure hope Audrey doesn't stumble across this thread.

I'm not a total idiot. "Total" is a pretty absolute word. I won't deny I'm familiar with the territory, but that's from frequent visits, not permanent residency.

I haven't found many I actually didn't like. Most times if I X an SF it's because they turned out to be a kid (in which case I explain first and usually ask to be reg friends), or if I SF someone and then don't see them for ages and need to make room.

LOL @ Audrey stumbling across this thread! Wink I drew her a map! LOL!

Total was a quote from you. Trust me, I'm probably more of a resident in Tardville, but the company is so pleasant!

Admittedly, most of the random SFs were kids and turned out to be pains! I, too, tried explaining, but there were a couple who would NOT accept me not wanting to be SF with them. *sigh* Not much you can do about that except X.

I have to admit that even after knowing about SF and then doing the picture thing that the speedchat/jumping idea was a little perplexing at first. I have accidentally made SF through this method and had to explain to them. Very rarely do they accept it graciously Smile

Hey - I'm the one that made SF with you know who! So, there have now been 2 cases of bad judgement on my part for SF (one was actually banned from Disney for bad behavior/language toward a child).

P.S. - Why is this thread in Goofy's Speedway (curious minds want to know)

Just the ramblings of the TTFers... it didn't start out that way! Then again, most topics, unless they are serious ones, really don't stay on track. JAJA track, in the speedway thread! JAJA!

Ok. I'm definitely extremely slow. lol! I had a good non-sf have me over to her house and she kept asking me to be her friend. I would repeat and she asked if I had won. Ok... I looked on tt central to see what is going on. Gosh, I feel stupid. LOL! I remember this happening another time, too. I thought the toon was crazy. LOL!
