Organized Weekly Uber Runs
View Single PostView Single Post

If we go this route this would consist of setting up teams and the district rotating each week and only going out to those who sign up for the run.

I did not vote because neither answer works for me. While I think it is a good idea to have set groups, I know it is also a big job to do on a weekly basis. The problem I see is that alot of the new ubers are kids, and from what I have seen not that reliable. So they sign up, you put them in a group, three do not show up and you are looking at a 5 toon uber VP. And thats only if you managed to start out with groups of 8. Even some of the adults can be no shows because of real life stuff. If this was an Uber CFO you could still manage even with no shows, but I just don't see it working effectivly with sell ubers.

Just my two cents (and yes Ang, I would like my change)

Sadly, I can not join

1) My toon is not fully ready for an uber run
2) I may not show up, wouldn't want to be mean!

I voted no. I don't think this run is something that should be owned by someone. IMO it is a run that should just happen.

I don't know until later in the evening if I can make the runs on Tuesday night. If I am home in time I show up...if I am unable due to RL then I don't go.

If I have to sign up, wait on a PM to find out what team I am on and what district then I will never go because I would be unable to know ahead of time.

I understand the run last night was not a good run but that is the way it goes sometimes. As I see it, trying to control it would cause more issues and problems.

I am addressing the Sell uber VP as the Cash uber seems to have a bigger "cushion" against sadualities.

It does sound like a very difficult task. I can't help but wonder if it might just exacerbate some of the other issues as well.

Concerns/Possible issues

1. No shows and going short doesn't seem to fly with a group of sell ubers
2. What about the time involved with organizing laff, gags, etc.
3. Time spent gathering groups...it rarely seems to take just a few seconds.
4. Isnt this starting to sound like more work and less fun? Wasnt that one of the issues?
5. Wait time...with assigned groups you actually have to wait for your members. What has the trend been with waiting for assigned groups? It usually is NOT shorter than just getting in the pit and going.

Besides poking holes, I do have something to offer...can we just make this simple? The group is growing just as the CCG has and I find that the bigger the group the simplest rules do best.

Clarify what a VP uber is when the vp uber run is announced as it is NO longer clear (especially to those that are new). Eventually, most will figure it out...

1. Laff point should be below 50
2. Gags should be level six or higher (I am not sure if you want this much flexibility)
3. And if your toon does not meet these requirements, it is not considered a vp uber. Please feel free to run the toon at the regular ccg runs.

Now I would expect that this could be sugar coated a bit but I am just laying it out to be considered.

For VP only, CFO is not a big deal. I think I'd like to give the organized run a try, if it doesn't work go back to the old way. Maybe it's just the summer wreaking havoc with our runs and all will be back to normal in fall. I sure hope so LOL.

As for organizing them - I don't think I'd want to do it every week, but I wouldn't mind taking the reins sometimes. I know LST has said he'd do it as well. If we do a rotation it wouldn't be too much of a burden on anyone. I think in posting your intent to come, you should include:
1. Laff
2. Gags and Levels and note if they are maxed or not
3. How reliable is your doodle?
4. What SOS do you have that you'd be willing to use if necessary

If we have odd numbers, then we can have the ones that are unsure if they can make it (like Zig) as alternates. Let's put together some teams that have a fighting chance.

If all else fails, expect ims/pms/prillians/sf chat from me putting together a group of uber friends whenever we are all available. Uber runs are too much fun to give up on.

Feel free to IM me if you are putting a group together. I will not be signing up to do the other runs.

I agree here, run times should be posted and open to all.

Another suggestion, incorporating those of PTT and Choco, why not leave the runs as is, but also establish a once a week Uber run? For those who wish to have a set routine and know who's coming and with what gags, that would work. However, whomever decides to oversee that would have a task, due to reasons mentioned by several in earlier posts.

JAJAJA! You were the one who started the poll! I was suggesting leaving the runs as random, but possibly having a separate scheduled run once a week.

Oh ok.. Got a little lost with random post for a minute.. Those of us who run ubers did talk about a while ago doing more than one uber run a week but what ends up happening is ubers end up being maxxed out too quickly and in turn one of the runs ends up short toons who are ready to go.

Ok, I'm sure this will open up a whole can of worms but....

The runs I have been on and that I have read about being successful with great teamwork seemed to consist mostly of people who are members of TTF. The problems seem to arise from the inexperienced people who read the CCG board showing up. As far as I know the uber runs are not official CCG runs...so why not focus on doing a weekly TTF uber run instead. It would give us a bit of quality control.

I have my flameproof suit on so go at it Smile

Loopy I can't agree, looks like we will have 2 different oppinions on this one. Actually there are some very valuable, skilled CCG ubers, old timers who haven't been out in a while. Also we have some TTFers who could use some knowledge of uber vp strategy, ect.
I wouldn't personally want to exclude the uber VPs to just TTFs.
Another comment I want to make on this is the CFO uber runs were until recently sign ups only. No one complained on the set up then.

Pink, I'm a bit confused about getting maxed out quickly. Points, gags?? I'm assuming points, since you want to get your uber maxed in SB, but aren't there allowances in the "rules?"

Loopy, why not schedule a weekly TTF uber run that doesn't conflict with the CCG run and see how that goes? Just a suggestion...
