impatient toons
View Single PostView Single Post

I have spent the morning trying to finish my 8900 bux. After doing 4 mints I was thoroughly fed up. On each occasion an invasion would end and the toons in quiestion would not wait to start the final battle. As a consequence invasions started just after the final dance.

How does anyone else try to persuade randoms (who also needed cogbux!) to wait a few minutes to see if an invasion was pending?

A thoroughly fed up little green mouse,

Rach

When doing fac runs on Granny, I usually say, "I need more merits" and "Wait a minute." I haven't had any problems with toons running into the foreman before the next invasion starts. However, there could be some toons who don't realize merits/bux are doubled during an invasion.

I usually will speedchat ....

"Wait!"
"Wait a minute"
"I need more cogbucks"

And generall I'll hesitate, stay a ways back from the supervisor so I get a chance to say it before they rush in.

I've been avoiding this problem completely by running my 2 alone in the dollar mint (it's takes too long to wait to go in with 2 into the bullion in the busy dist.)

It helps to be out of sight...way out of sight. Pretend to be AFK at the last battle location, at least a full room away from the final battle.

Yesterday I hid out in the East Silo and refused to come out pretending to be AFK until the invasion started. The random was small enough to be endangered taking on the center silo alone, which helped. He came to push me several times and beg me to follow him. LOL. I woke up and was cheery the minute we had an invasion.

Hi Granny.

These were toons who just said "I only have a few minutes" and "No, Lets use sound " On nearly all occasions the amount of bux they needed was within the one mint run allocation. Mad I guess their attitude might change when they hit the bigger bux.

UGH! Those toons who only need a mint/fac to finish their bux/merits are just being selfish and, as you said, impatient! You're right, maybe they'll be singing a different song when they need 8900/5500!!

Murky, you goof! JAJA! Too bad that won't work all of the time.

It's not necessarily that a toon is only being selfish because they only need the one run. If they are not ccg/ttf, they may not know that they are in a district that has almost constant invasions. And they may not know that invasions double the merits/bucks/notices.

If we say "wait" and a toon doesn't immediately seem to understand, pretending to be AFK works well. I stood on the east silo and said "I'll be right back" "Wait for me" and put my toon to jumping. Then whisper chatted with my sf that was in with me while she said "Let's wait for my friend".

In the mint the other day, 3 of us decided we needed more gags. We WERE out of fogs and there WAS a sound barrell all the way back at the beginning. An invasion started just as we got back.

If all else fails . . . let them engage the cogs alone. They'll be forced to lure or take a hit or two. Then join and use lure and try to draw out the battle as long as possible. Doodle - wait until the timer is low and use Play Dead - it's the slowest trick when it works. Hopefully an invasion will start by the time the last cog falls.

I have to admit I'm with Anna. I solve this by going alone with my two toons, or with friends. I would even rather go to a non-invasion district and get them the old fashioned way - I got almost all of Quigley's final 8900 the slowpoke way!

I know that was no answer really, but IMO it is quicker to just do extra mints than to shuffle and deal with the idiocy in the busy district.

Wow, I have to say I didn't know that merits were doubled during an invasion! Need to keep that in mind for a later date. I still have so much to learn, and so do many others. Luckily we have great friends from TTF to help. I have to say I normally avoid the invasion district - too busy, and I find that many toons are on a mission and too preoccupied to deal with those of us who are clueless. I guess other clueless toons do not feel the same way.

I'm another who does runs alone with two of my toons or with my friends. I'd rather do a million dollar mints with just my two toons than deal with people who won't wait so I can get double bucks. I hope that they just don't realize that they get double merits or double bucks during invasions, but it's just not worth it to me to risk losing the double! Unfortunately there's tons of toons out there who don't read forums...not to mention all the impatient kiddo's out of school right now! For my sanity, I'll stick to running with just my two toons...that way I *always* know what the other toon with me is gonna do! Wink

Either that or you can always ask someone from TTF to run mints! Wink

I have been very lucky in getting toons that really get this and a few that agree to wait when they don't need to. On Lady Melody's very last mint I had a toon that drove me nuts. She went AFK early on and so we decided to miss one group of cogs because she appeared to be just gone. I didn't need that group as long as we got an invasion. So she finally joined us half way through the next group and tried to talk us into going back. The other two toons were smaller and didn't care so I convinced them to move on and she followed. I said I only had a few minutes and since I had just finished working 8900 as quickly as I could I really needed to ge this one done for my own sanity. We got to the final battle with no invasion so I said wait a minute. Then she pulled the "I only have a few minutes" "I need to go" on me and engaged the cogs. The other two seemed to get it since they used lure while she sounded then we would lure tu and she would sound. This went on a few attacks and an invasion started so we TU and she for some reason decided to lure. We finished off the cogs during the invasion and I got my bucks.

I guess I find if you can't avoid getting into the battle because they have engaged the cogs and I have seen that happen before. I will try and pull out lure to slow down the battle as much as possible. I think the harder one can be when you get toons that get it but think there is no invasion when there is one. So you wait around and see the invasion end then wait forever to get another invasion.
