40 Laff Toon Contest
View Single PostView Single Post

Hey guys, I'm just wondering if any of you have gone ahead and made up a new toon for the new contest?!? I made a toon tonight, and started to play her. I had Seana helping me tonight, and it was very helpful!! THANKS SEANA!! I was able to get my PURPLE DOG'S (hopefully IVANA DELL) laff up to 26, and that was playing a total of about 3 and a half hours. It is TT time, not RL time that counts. I don't think it will take too much longer to get to 40. I'm having fun with it, anybody else?

Thinking about it but I know a married couple that are doing it together with their big toons as helpers and TP toons. Since I only have one account I know I couldn't beat that! Without added help I doubt there is a chance???

Edit: I think it is a good opportunity for all to be a little toon again, as well as for others to go and help little toons achieve this goal. Have you been to Toontown Central lately? LOTS of toons there!

Have Fun!

I thought about it, too, but I only have one account as well so having help on demand would be rather difficult. I would also have to delete a toon Shocked and I don't see that happening! Razz

Good luck to those of you who participate and give a shout if you'd like some help.

We're doing it - possibly more than one! Our first is an EXTREMELY HIDEOUS duck named Anita Wynn! She's halfway through TTC right now. It's a family project and we're having fun with it. Cool

We're considering doing this. Or I should say Audrey is. There's one spot left on one of our accounts that's slated for her use. Thing is, every Disney TT contest I've seen so far (where there's an actual prize, so I don't mean stuff like Top Toons) is restricted to Americans. So we're probably out of luck, though we'll have to go read the fine print before deciding.

I was thinking about it though, and had some ideas for what it would take to win. The way I approached it was projecting ahead, imagining the winner, and thinking what they would have done to win. (Yeah, my brain works funny.) So what would they have done to bring up a toon in the least amount of elapsed game time?

First, lots of research. You'd plan ahead, know every single task to be completed. You'd probably bring one toon up to 40 laff just to have everything fresh in your brain. Not rushing, but learning. Thinking through each stage and making notes about how to make it as fast as possible.

Most of the laff would come from tasks. But look at the task(s) that will give you those last few points. Are they efficient? Or would it be faster to fish, or even race? Racing is probably out, but it doesn't take long at all to get a fishing laff point or two. Might make more sense, depending on what those last couple laff tasks are.

Helper toons would be critical. Ideally (meaning whoever wins probably has this) you'd have 4 helpers (meaning 5 accounts required). One toon jumps in the gag shop and another jumps in HQ. No running for the contest toon. The other two are helping with tasks. One helping directly with the current task, the other moving into position for the next task, so again no running or searching for certain cogs or buildings, just TP and do it.

All the helper toons are big toons with plenty of JB TOW phrases, so nobody has to stop for beans, not even going home to get them from a bank.

If possible, all the players are in the same room. Otherwise, all are connected by voice chat.

Most of this is trialed as that first preliminary research toon is developed, so that all participants know exactly what to do without hesitation.

Hmm, just as I'm writing this something else occurs to me. It might be even better if the contest toon doesn't bother with gags unless absolutely necessary. Let the big helper toons kill all the cogs. That way battles go faster and there's no time wasted restocking gags on the contest toon. It also reduces the number of helper toons required by 1, since you don't need a TP toon in the gag shop. I'm just not sure if there are any required tasks in the first 40 laff where you have to have certain gags. I know there are some for delivering gags to Professor Pete, but I think they're optional. The only one I can think of that's mandatory is the whole cream pie, but that's in MML, and 40 laff comes somewhere in DG.

All this might look extreme, but it's what the eventual winner will probably do. Maybe not all of it, but at least some of it. I think lots of people will try for this contest, but the winner is going to be someone who did lots of planning and had lots of help.

I don't want to discourage anyone from trying, just offering suggestions so that if you do try, you can maximize your chances of winning. It would be awesome if a TTFer won this contest!

Kevin aka Freddy W aka Freedy aka Mr. A, you are living up to your "A" name now! I never considered fishing as a means for laff in this contest, but it certainly is a viable option, especially if saved until last. The no gags part makes a lot of sense, also, and would speed up the process. However, turning in gags to Prof Pete would be a lot quicker than having to battle certain cogs, especially if you have a helper toon.

*applause* Nice synopsis!!

I have entered the contest (with no real chance of winning). My toon has reached 35 laff and I am working on tp access to Donald's Dock and can't seem to find the 3 cog gears needed from the cogs. Even though I have fought many so far...there are just some tasks that require luck and not skill in knowing what they are.
I do confess I have used my big toon to help in some tping and calling certain cogs from my cj wins...like a flunky (that didn't have my glasses by the way) and a backstabber (that did have my wig)...again with the luck of the drop. It is going to be an impossible contest to win (for me and all but one lol) and I think that what Kevin wrote is about the only way to actually win it, not having to use gags and not having to go home or ride the trolley for beans. It is all those seconds that you use that can mean a win or not. I have deliveries in my mailbox from days ago that haven't been checked because I don't want to waste the valuable time in doing so. Rolling Eyes
I know that I won't win, but the trying is the fun part.

There is a task in DD that requires you to deliver a squirtgun (maybe more than one). I think it's part of the cog gear task. So let's use squirt!

I have some friends who are trying to do this. There's the Mom and Dad, their 34 year old daughter and another good friend...and all but one have multiple accounts (7 accounts total). 3 of them live in the same house and the other has been coming over while they work on their toon(s). They're going to make several different attempts and already have one done. I'm wishing everyone luck (who wouldn't want a free computer?!), just wish I had room! Too bad I love all the toons I already have. Wink Good luck to everybody who's trying!

PS Lady Z's right you do have to have a squirt gun by DD. Smile

My daughter, Isabella, and I made matching toons yesterday... David and Goliath. We have had a lot of fun playing little toons together. No chance of winning, but still a fun time. I think other people must think it is fun, too, b/c gosh, there are a ton of little toons running around now! lol! We are almost up to 40 lps... winning 2 fishing trophies was easy. Good luck to anyone else playing!

I entered the contest. I made a toon on my wife's account and got help from the Cap and a bunch of sfs. We'll see how we fared.

I have been keeping track of the time I spend on that toon. I'm not sure right now where I'm at, but, yes, I do think it will be good to see the winners time!

For those still working on this. I have yet to start! If you have two accounts and tp from within any building, Toon HQ, or gagshop to the other toon at the same time they will switch places. This can be usuful on some of the multistage tasks.

Also, I would advise having the big toon sound thru cogs. It may not seem like much time but if you are using different gags to kill cogs then you have to wait that extra 10 seconds for the cog death with each different gag. Play during off peak hours and in a clear district to prevent lag issues.

Good luck all!

Four hours! Ooof! That's awesome. I didn't keep track but I don't think I could have done it any faster than I did - which was quite a bit more than 4 hours. I had help from 1 to 3 other toons and got pretty lucky on the stuff I had to retrieve...it will be interesting to see what the winning time is.

Ok - so how did you all measure up to the final winning time?
(Was it 3 hours and 45 minutes?)

I didn't keep track but I'm sure it was over 4. I really can't think how we could have done it any faster! Shocked I even got REALLY lucky in the tasks that required me to retrieve something from the cogs, usually getting it on the first try.
