You will now see a "Skill +" message briefly where your water button is after watering a plant. The button will then change back to displaying "Water".
You can no longer use Emotions from SpeedChat while doing Gardening actions.
You cannot use the Insta-Grow Fertilizer multiple times anymore. It will now be deleted from your Gardening Specials page after use.
Fixed a bug that sometimes caused Gardening dialogue boxes to pop up long after the activity was over with (such as watering or planting).
Made other "look and feel" refinements to Gardening.

I didnt see any skill points and....if you walk up to a plant the icons pop up, but if you back away a bit the 'remove' icon disappears. I tried to water a plant with 'water' and 'flower basket' - lost sticker book and friends list. I could chat with a friend but couldnt tp to them and was sooooo stuck that I had to X out and send a report. I also noticed that if you run by a plant the icons show up and don't go away. You can water a cannon or any other object (but get stuck)! Still no growth on plants even the ones hit with fertilizer. Report sent on 'grow bug'.

The skill points will only show up if your plant actually needed watering, I think. Or probably won't get new skill points till you water a newly planted flower/tree. But all my plants are still fully saturated so I doubt I will be getting any extra water skill point on them. And none is growing so can't pick them yet.
