I would probably show up to more TTF runs if they showed up on the front page. They are brand new posts, so I don't understand *why* they don't show up on the front page. Since you actually have to click "Forums" and then go look in this section, I will rarely attend these runs. Am I doing something wrong? Is anyone else able to see the TTF runs on the front page? I will try to remember to show up tonight, but no guarantees... I'm going to put the schedule on the same printout I use for CCG, but that doesn't help me with any CJ runs. Why are they not on the schedule?
Also one more question... so there's nothing on Saturday and Sunday? Are the beanfests still on Saturday? Also 8pm? Ok, it was 3 questions but really all tied together so it counts as one.

Can we make it so that the runs appear on the front page?!? That is a good idea.

HeeHee... That's kinda funny... I just sent a PM to Lady Z only yesterday asking the exact same thing. Why wasn't I seeing these posts on the front page?

The TTF runs page is available to registered members only, so it won't be on the front page. You don't have to go to the forums page, though...I always just click on recent posts or new posts and you'll see everything available to you. Brady did this to encourage people to join the site...if you check it out while not logged in you'll see maybe half the forums. But he made the run schedules for registered users only after we had problems with griefers showing up to some of the runs (uber runs specifically, but he decided to make them all registered only)
Did that answer the question? |
I immediately gave that a shot and it worked like a charm!
YAY!!! Now I know where the TTF Runs are! WOO HOO!!!!

Brady decided to make the TTF runs forum visible to registered users only, after a few specific runs where people showed up to deliberately grief (Then there was the time someone stole the picture and idea for the Survivor run after it was purposefully placed on the front page!). There are actually many forums that are set this way. Only the ones available to guests will show up on the front page. He did this to encourage people to register - by becoming a forum member, even if they don't post, they get more of the "perks".
Runs used to be on the calendar, but that function was disabled because it was messing up the site.
I don't know if he would be willing to change this or not. We had a long discussion about it at the time and personally, I like it the way it is. But he'll see this and respond as he sees fit. Meanwhile, if you click on recent posts you will see everything that has been posted since your last visit (or the last 24, 48, 72 hours, as you choose). Really, you're missing so much if you rely solely on the front page. That's more of a teaser, if you will.
There is a schedule for TTF runs but I'm not sure it's been updated to include CJ runs...I'm not sure of the schedule because it's too early for me so I don't pay attention, but if someone would let me know, I can update it (or the person who posted it can). If the thread is not a sticky I'll make it so.
Edit - LOL QT ya beat me to it!

I am glad I did a double take on this thread. I was going to give your spiel Z. Phew! I prefer them as they are now. I rarely even view the front page anymore. I do miss the calendar though. The runs were there nice and red for all to see.

Well, because you asked...
All the names on open are copied from Disney's Great Big Book of Outstanding Toon Names 3rd Ed.
The Test names I will take soul credit for. Each of those came to me in an epiphany of originality and individualism.

The great Paul Mason sums it best. Just as he will serve no wine before its time.
I will mention no toon if it is too soon.

Thanks for the response... actually, TTF has been so slow for me lately that if it isn't on the front page, I often don't see it at all. I don't know why it's so slow... my connection is broadband and my pc is only about 6 months old. I saw Brady's post about the slowness but it hasn't gotten any better for me. I feel like I'm running through water while trying to view this site.

The slowness did get better for me after after Brady posted about it, but then yesterday, it took a step backward. Today hasn't been too bad, but I do agree, it has been a lot slower than it ever has been...

I agree, it's slower again for me. Brady's doing what he can to get 'er done. One suggestion is to save the forums page to your favorites so you come in that way, rather than to the home page. This will simply save you a step.

Does the slowness have a certain time of day? Because right now it's pretty zippy.
As far as the runs being on the front page. LadyZ's explanation of why they are not on the front page is pretty much the way it is. I am not sure we have any "griefers" that peruse this site to bother us, but we did at one time. We can run a test of it being on the front page for a week, and see what happens? What do you guys/gals think of that?

It still seems slow to me at the moment, but then again I was having bad lag on TT and everywhere else, so it's me right now.
Fine with me to have it visible - but you all need to realize that the more shows up there, the less likely it is to STAY there, ya know? It will get bumped by other stuff. So I'm still not sure it will solve the problem. But since that's not the way I view the posts, I won't even notice the change!
