JavaScript??
View Single PostView Single Post

I'm trying to view videos on YouTube. It was working great up until the other day, when the hubby updated the McAfee. Now I get the following message:

Quote:
Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player. Click here to get the latest flash player.

I did get the latest flash player, and as far as we can tell, JavaScript IS turned on (although we're not sure Embarassed)

McAfee seems to be some sort of Nazi software. It was the reason my IMs wouldn't go through; we had to turn off THEIR popup blocker, it apparently didn't trust me to choose the right sites on IE. Rolling Eyes So I am guessing that McAfee is also blocking something for YouTube. Can anyone offer me any ideas?

Note: other video sites - Google, Putfile for example - work fine.

It could be the settings for McAffee, or possibly on YouTube. My work runs McAffee and YouTube seems to work fine for me. Is it possible it's operator error? Laughing

Have you checked McAffee's settings?

It was running YouTube fine until he updated it. If there are settings in McAfee that apply to this, we're not aware of them - hence my plea for help Smile Can you tell me what to check for? "Settings" doesn't really help a computer-illiterate such as myself. Wink

Operator error is always possible, but as I said, it was working fine until the update. Confused

McAffee might be reading YouTube as a potential threat. And you aren't computer illiterate! Razz

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm at work atm and can't get into the nitty gritty details...

I checked McAfee's FAQ section with no lucl. Checked their support forums and found a few persons having the same problem. One of the McAfee engineer's posted this suggestion: http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=94074

Of course, he doesn't know what the problem is either.

Searched google and found this other guy who had the problem and got it fixed: http://www.pchelpforum.com/internet-help/19642-fixed-javascript-problem.html

He had to uninstall a flash, java and reinstall them, and that worked for him.
