Hey everybody, don't die of shock just because I'm writing a post for the first time in too long. I get creative at Halloween and thought some of you might enjoy the special pumpkin I carved this year...
And for anyone who missed it, here's the one I did last year...
If anyone else is insane enough to put that much work into something that's going to rot before long, I'd LOVE to see pics.
TTYL,
Kevin

I showed your pumpkin creations to my son Mike, and we'd like to know how long it took you to create the pumpkins....You did a wonderful job with both!

VERY cool! (nice thingamajigger btw) I've done quite fancy pumpkins in the past but never free hand. With patterns that take hours to make. Great job!!!!
So ummm what do the neighbors think? (Did you see that Kevin guy's pumpkin? What the heck is that suppose to be)???

Love 'em kev. The girls and I carve our pumpkins every year. Sometimes freehand, sometimes just copy a picture from the internet. I'll take some pics and post 'em later.
For those of you afraid of carving - those cheap kits they sell really are pretty handy. Just tape a picture on your pumpkin (from book or print out from internet, etc). Use the pointy tool to make a dot to dot on the surface of the pumkin thru the paper. Take off the paper and follow the dotted lines with the carving tool. Even a 7 year old can pretty safely and easily use the tools.

These are the ones we carved this year. Rachel didn't feel like carving, but she did help with the gutting. She loves squishing around in pumpkin guts.
This was a small pumpkin, so Sarah decided Mom should carve these eyes:
She herself took on a bit more ambitious project of an owl mask

WOW!
Nice Pumpkins!
We use one of those cheap sets too and the kids love cutting (sawing) the pumpkin every year! We always do the "standard" ones! I would have never bought the carving sets but the kids use to carve one at school in K and 1st grade...no knives allowed at school!

No, Bill, it's usually when you mention melons.
Those carving sets are awesome! I didn't do any jack-o-lanterns this year, but the kids and I got very creative last year!
