I believe that it is every American's responsibility to do two things:
1. Vote for the people who will best represent them as an individual.
2. Serve on Jury duty when called.
Now is the time for us to do #1. I don't really care who you vote for, as long as you vote. In my mind, you have no right complaining, if you don't get out there and vote. And besides, if you don't vote the way I do, you'd better bring a friend, because it will take two of you to outweigh my one vote.
People often say that, in a democracy, decisions are made by a majority of the people. Of course, that is not true. Decisions are made by a majority of those who make themselves heard and who vote - a very different thing.²

Thanks for the reminder Orville, we've got some pretty hot topics here in SD so I'm sure it'll be a huge turn out here. I've already done one stint of jury duty, if I hadn't had little ones I had to scramble to find someone to care for them, it might have been more fun for me! It was a very awe inspiring experience and really brought the meaning of Democracy home for me, we have so much power in our hands if only we use it!
Happy Voting everyone!

We're a mixed marriage (Democrat/Republican), although neither one of us usually vote a straight party line. I think we skipped a year that we knew we were going to exactly cancel each other out LOL. I suppose we should have still voted just to help out with the voter apathy statistics .

Yes SIR! As soon as I drop the kid off at school I'm there! Hot topics here too...both state and local. Think in this house there will be at least one cancel out....but it's better than his side getting that vote

We are a split party family also, but I WILL get out to vote...HE might not!! Guess what ended up happening today? Rich stopped to vote on his way home from work. The GM plant he works at was dark, due to the fact that the factory workers get the day off!! So, he came home early, and was able to vote! Now, me on the other hand, I ended up with the chills, fever, and aches...OOF!! I just took 2 Advil, and an antiboitic (I felt that I needed that...was left over from the last time..). I hope I feel better soon....not sure if I'll get over to the polls or not... Oh, and hubby ended up voting in a direction I would never have guess for him!!
