LLK, the Krispy Kreme donut is quite good. They have a lot of varieties as do most donut/coffee places. The ones that most people are talking about are the HOT glazed ones. They sell them warm usually just off the glazing machine line. Here's my simple description of a Krispy Kreme HOT Glazed Donut:

Imagine if you will a pocket of sweet air shaped like a donut encased in small amount of dough. They absolutely melt in your mouth.

There was a comedian that made a joke about them that went something like this:

Me and my daughter were driving home from the movies, and we passed the Krispy Kreme place and they had the HOT sign on, SO we HAD to stop!

I pulled through and ordered my dozen and asked her if she wanted anything, she said she was ok.

As I was driving the rest of the way home, I was eating the donuts fast and my daughter said to me, you aren't even chewing those daddy!

I said to her, YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO!

Hope you can enjoy one someday Very Happy

Thanks for that and on that note, i reckon it`s lunch time.

They sound really nice and something I will aspire to trying when next we come over.

I normally find myself looking at a large jug of Long Island Iced Tea......could be a beautiful partnership in the making...

Oooh an old topic revived! (how come I never saw this before)? Living in WI and having friends in both San Fran and the Boston area (Carver) we have had this discussion in the past. Sending pics such as the origional post. It blows me away what a house costs here vs there. The homes I was sent (I think in both cases we were talking about 300,000) looked a lot like the one you showed Brady and the ones I sent back looked a lot like the other one. We may have the (insert word here) weather....although thank you global warming Very Happy.....but one thing we do have on the plus side is great schools, low crime and as much as I hate to admit it (I'm not a fan of my state for many reasons) it is beautiful here winter, spring, summer and fall. We do live in the 3rd largest city area (after Milwaukee and Madison) but 5 miles out in the country. For 1 mil you can get a home that would easily rival a Beverly Hills mansion. For 250 thou you could get a very very nice home. Heck for 150 thou you can get a pretty nice home! If I had to guess the Mass pic you posted would probably go for about 30 depending on the land.

And yes, we do have a Krispy Kreme Razz No White Castle and our Long John's went out of business a loooong time ago. (you are talking about the state famous for it's Fri night fish fry so there is no contest with fast food fish)

Oh yeah.....our cheese is pretty good too Very Happy (and we use to have a football team........)

Oh yeah - I was looking around at some houses here for my cousins this weekend. There was a really nice house for $154,000. It is a 2-story bungalow with about 1600 sq ft. Nice master bedroom on first floor with modern bath - including a jacuzzi tub. The second floor had 2 cool bedrooms (kinda funny shaped) and a full bath. I think it was over 1/2 acre in flat yard with a fence for the dogs. And, it is in walking distance of the downtown of our little city. Only problem was it has a 1-car garage (with a carport in front of that and a doublewide driveway to allow parking there, too). The basment was very nice with one area finished for a kids' play area. It also had a shed and they would leave the wooden playset in the backyard if you would like it!

Anyone want to move to Ohio? It's Spring now, so you'll love it Smile

Well, here in CO we bought our house 17 years ago for 150,000, then over the years did two additions for total of 150,000, which brought the sq ft up to 3,000, we could now sell for about 5-600,000, which sounds good until you realise that you then cannot buy anything else LOL. CO is great for outdoor recreation and if you don't need to be in a major town apparently pricing in small towns can still be good, if you're willing to live out on the eastern plains, no sweet little mountain cabin for nothing anymore! I also live in MA and although very expensive to live here, i have to say I cant imagine living anywhere else. We had lived in a smaller house and outgrew it when our son arrived. It was a 3 bedroom, 1 bath, 1 car garage and NO basement....and was apprased at 350,000. To move up to the next level of house that we needed and to stay in our town, we'd have to pay between 750,000 and 1mil...... I DONT THINK SO!!! So....we tore our house down and built the house of our dreams on the same lot..... cost about 500, 000 but could sell for twice that in this town.... We are on the ocean, good schools, close enough to the city....it really has a lot to offer. and...btw....what is a sonic?

Surely you jest... Sonic is a fast food restaurant that I am honored to live less then three miles away from. They have great food and they are fast. You pull up to one of about 20 slots push a button once you have looked at the menu and then order away.

If anyone is interested,,, A Vanilla Cherry Limeade is the BOMB !!!! Try it.

You know..funny you should mention Sonic...I am pretty far away from one. So, when I made it to So. Cal late last year, I had to stop at one Razz I really love the old "slide in" spots with the menu and the server that delivers the food on a tray to put in your window (reminds me of Grease...woot!) Anyhow, I cannot even remember what I ate...I just loved the set up Razz

mmmmmm.....Sonic!

I go there an average of twice a day. Not so much for the food (unless I want a Chili Cheese Coney), but to satisfy my iced tea craving. I love their cranberry tea (unsweeted for me). All the waitresses and staff pretty much know who I am. In fact, just the other day I pulled in and was talking on my cell phone, so I delayed ordering while I finished my call. After about 5 minutes one of the car hops comes out and says, "Bill did you get your order?". I told her no I have been talking on the phone and had not ordered yet. She laughed and told me there was a big comotion in the store of folks wondering, why is Bill still sitting there? Did he get his order? Wait I can't find Bill's order, did we lose it? ROFL. So they finally sent someone out to ask.

ps. Yes Ang, I know I could buy a bottle of cranberry juice and make my own tea! LOL

Ohhh.... home prices, a sore sore topic in the Nicklegoose household.

We reside on Long Island which is that thing that sticks out on a map east of NYC. It's an Island of course, so there's not a whole lot of land. We're pretty packed in here, so there's not much more to be built. House prices are expensive for sure. It is impossible to find a house (not a townhouse/condo) for less than 300K unless it's in need of massive work.

We live in a very nice area of LI, but we rent a 2BR apartment and the boys' share a room. It's an excellent school district, lots of property for them to run around, etc. I don't see us owning a home here anytime in the next 5 years though.

WHERE is that Red Warning when you need it saying to put down your drink!!!

Sorry about turning this into the Sonic thread I was just answering a question.

BTW did anyone try their Cheesecake bites?

Maybe eventually we can get back on subject..

We bought our house three years ago , for $110,000 (1800 Sq feet four bedrooms, two baths, )
When my sister in law was looking for a house , she looked at buying one in our subdivision, Our exact house would of cost her $125,000.

We got our tax statement the other day and our house appraised for $106,000

Im kinda glad that we do not have to pay that much in tax. It is sad though that we cannot even sell our house for what we owe on it.

We live in the Detroit Metro Area, in the suburbs....

The area we wanted to live in, houses are priced pretty high. For a half way decent 4 bedroom colonial with basement and attached garage it would cost about $250,000, and that's a house built in the 1960's! For a brand new house in that area, you'd pay at least $350,00 and upwards for sure.

We ended up in the same city we lived in previously, and got a 3 bedroom colonial, basement and attached garage, with a lot bigger yard than what we would have gotten in the other city for under $200,000! So, weighing it all out, it was worth it staying in the same city....even though I vowed to get out of dodge...no matter what. I do love where we are. We moved in back in October.

Back *gasp* 20 years ago, I moved to Taxachusettes for about a year. My biological dad still lives out there and I temporarily moved there while he was going through cancer treatments. Helped run his business, (Waltham) had a second job (Framingham) and helped around his house, (Marlboro). It was a wonderful experience, but my heart was back in the mid-west. Actually, I really had the best of both worlds because I lived rent free while there, but was able to make the wages that are much higher there. The ocean, the seafood, subs, bagels, deli's, dunkin' donut coffee by the gallons, the historical sights, wow, so much to see and do!

Of course there was the language barrier... Haha... First week of work had someone ask me where the potty was... I whispered down the hall, to the left... 3 times he asked... He looked confused at my response... Finally he rolled his eyes at me and said, "No. The PAHTY... P-A-R-T-Y." Learned quickly that it was Peetzer and Beeyah. Where we would say an "ah" sound, was now an "er" sound and where we would say and "r' sound was now an "ah" sound. Took a phone message first day of work and had the woman repeat her name a few times. Shrugged and wrote down that Reeter called... It was Rita. ROFL. Regular coffee here means NOT decaf. Regular coffee there is with cream? Sugar too? They have soda and tonic, not pop and they have casserole, not hotdish. Dungarees there, jeans here. Oh it was fun! While they laughed and teased me about my "accent" I wondered to myself, "Do they think everybody on TV sounds funny too? Most speak on TV with the pronunciation I use." I really enjoyed their dialect.

But alas, when I went to look for my own place, I almost died when I saw the going prices of even a little efficiency apartment, with basically a hot plate for cooking! GOOD GRIEF! Nope, that was the clincher that had me turn my little car back this direction and drove straight through back "home" to Minnesota. Of course I was 19 or so then, so I didn't fully grasp the economy and what I should have been budgeting. Was easier to just go home... Missed the rest of my family and friends... Typical 19 year old... Ran back to my roots.

And since I am still so off topic, hey! On cable TV, I see Sonic commercials all of the time and everything looks SO good! But no... NONE around here. There should be a rule against that!

I don't understand the whole Sonic thing! Our town is not huge, around 40,00 pre-Katrina (we have grown a LOT since the hurricane with city folks coming here and out of towners moving in to work) and we have at least SIX Sonics that I can think of. All but one were here before the hurricane! I mean there's practically a Sonic on every corner! Razz

When I was on bedrest for three months friends would bring dinner to us almost every night. Sonic was having dollar Kids Meals on Wednesdays and one freind said she would bring that every week. Two meals for the adults LOL. So every Wednesday she would call and find out what we wanted. Mmmm chicken strips and tater tots. Very Happy I love taking the kids there for the little desserts like the mini banana splits, I can afford that and it's "enough" (the big kids don't always agree).

We are also overrun with Subways. We have six regular Subways, and at least 4 that I can think of inside gas stations, and one in a Super Wal-Mart (just down from a regular restaurant. Wow!

And six McDonalds'....wow for a 40,000 person town? Unreal! Laughing

No Roy Rogers, though, since the 70s. My main memory of them is a high school friend worked there and would bring leftovers to parties on the weekend.

Housing costs skyrocketed here after the storm. Our house was worth around 200,000 when we got it 2 years ago; we could refinance for 280,000 now. Sweet!

LOL QT at first I thought I was reading someone else's post when I read the places in it Wink

I've dealt with the Boston accent myself. "Pahk the cah at Hahvahd Yahd!"

Roy Rogers has been gone around here, too, since the 70's.

Okay, so you have all of these Sonics and Mickey D's, but what about Starbucks and Walgreen's being on almost every corner???

Staying OT... housing costs in this area solely depend on location, location, location. One house on the snobby east side of town could sell for three times as much as on the west side. Go figure!

Ouch. We bought both our house and the big house next to ours in our town. You know what the cost of the nice big house we bought was? $3,000. Yes, only three thousand. If that's not cheap, I don't know what is.
