Rallying the troops!!! Please help my friend!!
View Single PostView Single Post

Hey everyone, for those that have known me for a while, you know that in addition to being a Financial Aid counselor, I am also a saxophone player and avid jazz musician. Many of you have been to our bands website http://www.theestablishment.net and some were even able to listen to our live internet broadcast last year.

Anyway our female vocalist, the lovely and talented(how's that for cliche') , Liz Johnson is competing for a 'golden opportunity'. She is in a internet-wide contest to win a chance to appear on the next album of the finest big band around today, gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band. Gordon is a Los Angelos composer with 100's of movie and tv score credits to his name. (One of his most recent was Humbug Duck, the looney toons version of a Christmas Carol). His band is hosting on their website a contest kind of like American Idol. People download songs from them, add themselves to the recording, send them back in. Each week for 8 weeks the top submissions are placed on the web for voting. This week, my friend Liz is in the female vocalists competition. Here is the email she sent me giving instructions on how we can vote for her. Please help, and take a few minutes to go and vote for her. She is extremely talented and deserving as I am sure you will see from her submission. Voting can be done at http://www.bigphatjam.com

thanks in advance,
Bill

Thanks everyone. She only has to beat the week 4 people at this point. so she is doing pretty good. I don't know if the band will select from the 8 weekly winners or if there will be another vote. I guess I could read the rules and see what will happen. Shocked Hope everyone enjoyed her singing. Her CD is in my alarm clock. LOL. (Not a lot of incentive to get out of bed in the morning. ROFL).

I voted...hope that she wins, didn't get to listen yet, but looking forward to.

Just checked out the count, and she is winning for week four (at least I think she is). Forwarded this to friends in my email list and asked them to vote for her too...let us know whether or not she wins, Bill.

Owoooo! One of my closet obsessions, big band yikes! I keep the others pretty obvious and open, I'll vote I love it!
On a side note, CA used to have a pretty decent music scene in this area, sadly it is really only surviving (barely) in southern Ca.
