The dilemma is this. After hearing the Toontown music for years on end, I'm getting sick of it. I've checked the main files of Toontown, and I see no music files. Are they all compressed or something? I know they're all in MIDI format and I'm willing to find MIDI versions of the music I plan to replace it with, but I just can't seem to find it! I think it's a really poor design choice if the computers have to download the music from the server every time the Toon enters a new area, so where are those files stored?

I turn the music off on TT and on in my iPod.
Sorry, I can't help other than that! Why would you want to replace it in the files when you can just turn it off?

I always leave the Sound Effects on, though. Otherwise, you can hear people talking/whispering and the Chief Justice can really kill you! These changes are on the same page of your Schticker Book as exiting Toontown and changing the display.

Know what's funny....I have never ever heard any of the TT music. From past experience with PC (and other) games I just know the music will drive me nuts so it's automatic turn it off.

The reason I want to replace the music is simply because getting it from another source (ala iPod or MP3 Player) just doesn't feel immersive. What I've been doing is minimizing Toontown and using music on Windows Media Player, but that means every time I enter a new area I have to minimize it and select something appropriate manually. I want different battle music for once that turns on automatically when you enter a battle!
So the REAL problem is I'm just lazy. =P

I do believe I have found where the music is stored. It may be in the phase_*.mf files! The problem is, I have no idea how to implement the music. Furthermore, I checked the logs and ToonTown redownloads all the .mf files at startup. This probably means it's impossible to replace the music permanently. Oh well, it was a nice idea.
But still, I think people should be able to direct the music pointers to music on their own computer. And possibly be able to set your own MIDI music for the estates, which visiting people would temporarily download when they visit and then delete when they leave.

Just to tell you that would be considered modifying the program and for sure that is way against the ToU. I actually really like the music though. I find it sets a nice mood.
