Ok - I have one toon (Mimi) with trap. All the rest have drop.
How in the heck do you work trap?!? I do a lot of solo running around at my lunch hour and whatever to get merits, etc. and I just cannot imagine how trappers do it! Trap is not a good tool to help you solo a 4 story building. Also, you can work trap solo but the hits are unbelievable!
I finally maxed my drop on Test. That was a lot of work (again, most of it soloing buildings using only drop). Now, if I could just find some hurt toons on Test..........
AND - how do you get to be 105 laffer and have only 2000 lure points and 1000 drop points on your toon?? (My uber ran with this toon and its friend last night in the factory and I was shocked that my monkey had better gags!)

I think the best way I've found for working trap by myself is to work it on the streets...that way, you can stop, and either go home to doodle, or back to the playground for more laff. You really cannot work it in a building by yourself, you'd need others with you to work it, otherwise, you'd go sad too quickly. Good thing about trap is when you put it down, someone usually always will lure for you!!

The very best way is to find someone who is trying to work lure, and befriend them!
I usually work all the way up to sand in the streets. Unfortunately it's not as easy to work in the invasion district, because someone will come along and kill the cog before you can lure it in. So I roam the streets in a slow district if I don't have a friend to lure for me. It's a great thing to do if you only have a few minutes, or no one on to do anything else with, or you just feel like being alone and not having to think! Just remember to check your laff so you can go starfishing.

I found picking Trap at Minnies PG (The first time you have a chance to get it) is the easiest way to max it. You need to work it when you can.
My Pig on test is around 5000 in trap and has just started Dreamland.... he also has great friends who let him and make him work trap while they work on Lure.
Soloing buildings is tricky. Depending on if I get hit or not and if another cog comes out... I may wait until 2 traps are down before luring. Doodles will get a good work out.
We can work some in on a TTF run too....

MST had some great friends who worked my trap to death going in factories. It took a long time as that was the last gag track I choose and then I didn't have lure to help my own trap. Dippy is stuck in the same situation as I now work buildings with my two toons, but again MST is not much help. We take a lot of hits, but it's well worth it at the top of a building. I do wait til there are two cogs left so I know they can't make us sad. I'm considering getting Meow out to help some eventhough her laff is low.
Lady Z has a good point with friending a lure worker. She did help Dippy in the factory as well. I used all the trap I had and got a fair amount of pts. Don't hesitate to throw your trap out at the runs. I'm sure someone will lure the cogs unless your stuck with MST and Crazy Boo Boo!

I mostly get trap with my toons. I just do it slowly and gradually. I didn't get my TNT until like 104 I think. I didn't use it a lot because it IS hard to get up.

This is exactly what I do! My 108 test toon still has to max trap. Thankfully, my good friend (ok husband) Super Salty is working his lure. Woo woo! I'll help work anyones trap and tu on test! Give me a holler.

Trap is definitely the hardest to work alone. I have a toon on test that just got TNT them same day she reached 109 laff, it's going to be a loooong time before she's maxed. When I solo short factory runs, I try and trap a few in there. In several of the rooms, you can drop a trap quickly while only one toon has lined up, so you only take the one hit. Then you can lure and doodle, with only 2 cogs left to take out.

Some time ago my wife, Dizzy Bananabrains (not her real name, of course), was bemoaning her non-TNT status. On this toon, she was fortunate to have strong lure developed. I don't remember clearly, but I think she had the goggles and perhaps the presentation. I worked her toon up to TNT by soloing LVL 2 and LVL 3 bldgs in the Docks area. Her laff was over 100 then. I was able to eek out 50 to 70 credit on a lvl 3 bldg. To be sure, there were some times when I left with a quite low laff. Her gags were strong enough to kill the cogs if lure failed. She was quite thrilled at the progress. Me personally, I choose drop because of the ease-to-work factor.
If you have a strong lure, those lil bldgs in the DD and DG playgrounds can yield some nice gag credits, even outside the invasions. And they tend to limit the number of cogs coming at you from the elevators after the initial wave is cleared. If you can catch an invasion, then you can match the bldg size to gag quantity and strength to boost the credits accordingly.
GL working those gags.

Definitely if you spend a lot of time playing on your own, drop is the better choice over trap.
If you are on your own in a building without drop, it is so much easier to run out of gags. I can usually do a 4 story in Dreamland without using level 7 gags with my 3 pianos - makes a big difference!

Fat Knuckles worked Trap in buildings primarily. 3 and 4 stories in DD or DG! Sometimes, I would use throw or squirt first to mix things up a bit. My Laff was probably around 80+ at the time. But..after a few floors of milking Trap and the Doodle not helping out....(LOL), you end up throwing lots of cakes and stuff just to get out with a win. My 3rd toon picked Drop (Professor Superspeed, first toon to use it) so i cannot say which is easier to work. If you devote a week to running TRap solo, I bet you would be pleasantly surprised.
Having said that, I'll say this........If Lure misses, Doodle don't jump, Cakes miss and lure misses again......IT DON'T MATTER WHAT GAG YOU ARE WORKING CAUSE NOTHING IS WORKING! That is when you limp back to your estate between floors 1 and 2 and start feeding the Doodle.
My only problem with Drop is that.instead of relying on another Toon to "help" you use it like TRAP, Droppers have to hope the rest of the party "let's" them use drop. As a non-dropping toon, I will often scale down the attack so the Drop will work.....usually to have it miss and drag the battle out longer. I appreciate Droppers who try dropping and then pick something else after Drop misses. I am all for letting them Drop 1-2 times per set of Cogs, but..if they both miss.........it is nice of them to finish them off so the Bull Mint doesn't take an hour......LOL
Good Topic...see ya' in the Mint!
