Car Collisions
View Single PostView Single Post

I'm sure it's happened to you, too. You get hit by another car (or you hit them) and your car almost comes to a dead stop while the other car doesn't even slow down. Is there any rhyme or reason to which car gets the slow-down "penalty"? Or is it just random? It seems pretty random--but it might be that the car who's going the fastest at the time of impact fares better than the other. What do you guys think? If there was some way to consistently bring another racer to a stop by side-swiping or rear-ending them in a certain way, that would be a sweet skill to have. But it seems like I'm always on the receiving end of the slow-down penalty.

I always thought it was random, but I'm not sure. If it's not random it probably has something to do with the speed the cars are going at or the angle at which the cars colide.

Sometimes I'm not going as fast as the car behind me, and it just drives right over me, whcih puts me in a dead stop.

I hate when this happens and I'd really like to know the answer. I agree that the speed of both cars does matter. I'm not sure about the angle... but that could be it. It just seems every angle that I'm hit I get dead stopped.

I would have to say not only does the speed of the car contribute to the amount of damage done, but also the weight of the cars. If there was a small car going 90 mph that crashed into a big dump truck, I'm quite certain that the little car would get mangled. Something to think about.........

Interesting thought! If the vehicle's "weight/size" matters, then you'd expect the TUV to fare better in most collisions (I'm thinking the TUV looks "heavier" than the roadster) and the cruiser to usually get the worst of any collision. I haven't noticed that to be the case, but I might have to borrow my son's toon's TUV and test that one out.

Just to let you know, the car hitting you probably never sees you. I race two toons against each other with two computers and one screen will show a bump (and the hit toon does stop) and on the other screen I never even see the car I hit. Both screens show each car in first place before it happens. Then, the hit car ends up in second place, but the car in first wouldn't know why.

Lol, that's interesting LittleWacky. The racing in toontown isn't in so much detail that all the toons see the same things happening at the same time. When I race my bro(sit next to each other at 2 different computors), We are both in 1st place for a long time, and neither of us sees the other.

Me and my little sister race sometimes and when I bump her it doesn't show up on her screen. Then She'll bump me and hit me off course. Then I say, "You bumped me!" She says, "No I didn't!" See I tested it one day and Little Wacky is right.

Another glitch while racing sometimes(only happens on my laptop), is sometimes my brother bumps me, and I go off the track, and if I don't get back on quickly enough, I start sinking. Soon enough, I'm at the finish line-but the only problem is-I'm under it! Laughing I can't figure out how to fix that problem, as it happens to me once for every 50 races about.
