Got Whales?
View Single PostView Single Post

This should be better than a boring slide show. LOL. Smile Here are some pictures from our whale watching trip about 20 miles out from Provincetown, MA. These 3 whales got realllly close to the boat, I mean, if the deck of the boat was closer to the water I could have touched the whale!!

My camera battery went dead so these were taken with the camera phone not as good but still cool Wink

Very Cool, Great PICS!
We went to Martha's Vineyard last summer, but sadly, no whales for us.

Wonderful pics. What an experience. We had whales here in the Sac, Ca. area. I did not go to see them though. Such a majestic animal.

I love to go whale watching. I forgot to go earlier this year when they were passing by my city, but I'll be in Hawaii in a few weeks, and they tend to be year round over there. I hope I get as close up as you did. It's like heaven on earth when they swim up that close and splash.

WOW!

I'm envious. I'll have to send pics from my cruise in 2 weeks to make myself feel better. Razz

Looks really fun! I've never seen whales that close, must be awesome. The pictures are great. Silly question, do the whales go north this time of year?

I can't believe that we lived in Hawaii for three years but never went whale watching. It was when we were first married and my hubby was a lower enlisted, so therefore...we had no money and just hung out on the beach and then walked around Waikiki at night....hoping to get back there again soon, my son was born there (him and granny mo mo were actually born in the same hospital...hope that wasn't too much info, let me know and I will edit it.) and he wants to see where he was born.

Anyway...have fun, don't forget to visit Hanama Bay for the best snorkeling ever.

Impressive pictures.

Did they let you feed the whales like you can feed the dolphins at Sea World Mr. Green

Lots of coolness there! That must have been so fun, to see whales so close. Those are really nice pictures!

By the way, did anyone here about the two whales that swam up in the the delta in the San Francisco/Bay Area area? I was out there one day waterskiing, and I saw them! =)

It was a lot of fun! A lady who was checking out the whales with us told us that her family had been whale watching for 20 years and had never seen a whale goofing off like one of the ones we saw was. It was rolling over on its back and splashing its flippers which ended up getting us wet a few times lol.

It was a bit scary at times a least to me when everyone would rush to one side of the ship to see the whales as they switched sides and the ship would tip that way. It was a blast and one that I dont think my kids will ever forget.

Owooooo!!! Those pictures are awesome! What a wonderful time you must have had! Thank you Dr. Skids and Pinkersmirk for sharing! I'm sure the kids went with you, they must have had a blast! I think I, too, would have been scared if the boat tipped when everyone rushed to the other side...YIKES!! Shocked I don't like being out on a boat, but would venture out on one to see a whale. Very Happy

So which way the whales going? Apparently not as silly a question as I first thought.

I think they come up to where we were to eat, so I guess they did come North.

Oh well, I thought so, but was hoping if it was south we could catch them here since yes I am south of you. Shocked Maybe someday I can do that. You did wear a life jacket I hope Pink or did you just run to the other side of the boat? Awww, I'm still jealous and glad you had fun.

I'm really thinking of seeing the pony swim on Chingoteague (ok no clue how to spell) this year as it's always around my son's birthday and something I have always wanted to see since I loved those books as a kid and it's not that far.
