There is something called "wall sliding" that a lot of toons do. I have no idea how it is done. They slam into a certain part of the track and it gives them a speedboost, I guess. It can be done on any type of vehicle. I have three toons maxed in racing and I have never figured out how to do it. I think they keep it a secret so Disney won't take it away.

It's called wall sliding. After a boost from a red arrow you can bump into a wall and not slow down until the boost ends. I'm not sure if thats what wall sliding is or not. If it's not, then I have no clue.....

I have no idea about wall sliding. I have 2 toons with all their racing trophies and this is the first I've heard of it. That could explain a few times where I've seen someone go *way* faster than I know is normally possible. If such a glitch exists, I think Disney should fix it. People need to be willing to lose to good driving skills, and to good (or lucky) gag use. They should not have to lose to glitchers.

But the OP brings up a couple of other points.

The first is about the type of kart the person is driving. The kart makes absolutely no difference, other than looks and sound effects. People with more expensive karts and/or accessories tend to be better simply because they've gotten more experience while getting the tickets required to buy them. But you can't judge a book by its cover. On the second toon I maxed racing, I didn't bother buying any kart upgrades simply because I couldn't be bothered. By the time I was done, I had several tens of thousands of tickets and could have bought anything I wanted, but I didn't need them and didn't want to show off. And keeping a "starter" kart also had the added benefit of not causing people to bail on races because they think other karts are faster.

The other thing mentioned is the appearance of an opponent disappearing and reappearing way ahead. This happens a lot and is because of lag. It might be your lag, or it might be theirs. Basically what's happening is that their kart is really way ahead all the time, but the accurate position isn't being relayed to your computer fast enough for it to be displayed in the right place in your view. They are not cheating or glitching. Assume their "true" position is really the farthest ahead you are ever seeing them, and when they seem to stop, it's just that your computer doesn't know where to draw their real location yet.

Hope this helps.

Wall sliding only works on Blizzard Blvd Rev. If you were on a track other than that, I'd be suspicious that the toon was cheating (and plenty of toons do just that). As to whether wall sliding constitutes cheating or not, I've heard valid arguments both ways. But, no matter how you look at it, wall sliding is fun once you can do it. Even if you only use it on SFs who know how to do it as well (and you can't call that cheating!). After I read about wall sliding on a diff board, I made it a pressing goal to figure out how to do it. I didn't master it, though, until I saw a video of someone doing it. Seeing it on video really helps. So, obsessed person that I am, I put up my own wall sliding training video. Heh heh. If you want to take a look, it's at:

I agree, Freddy Whatzit. I think that the gag use is totally on luck most of the times. (I rarely get an anvil) I've actually had 3 anvils in a row fall on me- I couldn't believe it. I lost the race by a lot.....

The kart is just for looks and to show how good you've progressed.

You may already know this about gags in Goofy Speedway, but there may be some here who do not, so I'll post anyway. There is certainly an element of luck involved in the gags you get, but it's not totally random. You never get an anvil if you're in first place. So if you rarely get one, it could be because you're often in the lead.

As for having three anvils fall on you in a row, LOL, been there done that (and still won!). Since anvils always land on the leading kart that isn't already squished, it's just the "reward" for being a good racer.

Hmmm, this thread has me thinking it might be a good idea to write up a racing strategy thread. But there may already be some here, so I should look first so I don't repeat stuff that's already been said.

If the person in the lead never gets and anvil and I never get an anvil then my luck must really stink stince I am never in the lead! <-----say all that without taking a breath! Razz Then again it has been a very long time since I have tested this. I'm the queen of pies (with nobody close enought to throw at) and bananas.

Wall sliding, I have done sometimes. It's after a speed boost. That's probably what they're doing, or maybe they're cheating...I'm not really sure.

Meant to say in my earlier post. As proof that your car makes no difference in how well you race. I have a TUV with some bells and whistles. "Nuff said.

Is wall sliding actually sliding across the sidewalk in a race? Because if thats what it is, it sure doesn't give me speed at all.

Whats been happening to me lately, on almost all the different tracks, is that I fall off the track and it doesn't help me at all because then I'm going the wrong way. I've lost atleast 5 races because of this! Next time it happens I'll try to remember to take a screen shot.
