Question about maxing gags?
View Single PostView Single Post

OK, here goes...what is anyone's opinion (ducks and covers) about the order of maxing gags? Do you try to keep things even and hope to max squirt and throw at about the same time, or just go and work the crud out of one then the other? Right now, Sarah Sunshine is about even with squirt and throw, and one level behind on lure and sound, but those are about even also, and yet one more level behind on TU. Do I go ahead and try to keep them even? How do y'all do it? Any advice, I feel like I'm getting no where.

I try to get them to a fairly good level (maybe 4 or 5) semi even. Then I work one until I hit at least 6 even if it's a baby 6. (usually throw) Of course if playing with others you can't always just work your one gag but if I'm running around alone I do try. When I get a new gag track I start over and try to get that one up to the 4 or 5 level and then go back to the main one I'm working.

That's what I'm doing now at least. What I did on Nanner was so long ago I can't remember (surprise)!

On my latest toon, I worked throw and squirt together for a small while, then I worked throw to the max, and then concentrated on squirt. We were lucky to meet a few good toons along the way who were working their gags in buildings which helped us, as smaller toons, get lots of points in level 5 buildings!!! At the beginning, we really worked our gags, as opposed to tasks.

However, on my first toon, gags just happened as and when, along the way.

I try to use any gag BUT squirt and throw...they are too easy to max.

Thanks all, I do believe that answers my question. I have a couple of good friends that will help me with some big buildings, and now that it is easier to get into Nutty River, it is a lot quicker to build points. Thanks everyone.

I would play a 'game' with my friends when we entered big buildings to work gags....any gag could be used except Squirt & Throw. Droppers and Trappers were Happy and Sounding was always good...You built up TU too Mr. Green along with Lure. It made a big building interesting and we woud actually learn some combo attacks that we may never have thought about trying before.

I guess a pet peeve is to see a toon with max Throw and level 4 or 5 Squirt...level 3 Lure and TU....level 4 or 5 Sound at a 100 laff they just don't bring much to the table in a boss fight...mint...Da.

Varmint, you are always good at "making" your friends use their unmaxed gags....LOL!! Every time I've been with you in a factory or building, you've helped with working gags.

I agree with Varmint, working throw and squirt are the easiest, I'd rather work the others more. Sound is soooo important once you get to Cashbot HQ. If you don't have fog, people just don't want to go in the mints and even CFO with ya. Lure the same thing...I always start working my baby gags when I get them back in TTC, then work my way up. Maxing out either trap or drop comes with time...understandable.

With my main toon, Sadie, I maxxed throw and squirt pretty quickly (by the middle of TB), and sound shortly thereafter (just after entering DDL). Lure was a bit more slow, but it came too. A good friend of mine helped me over a weekend and we managed to finally max trap (just after getting TNT). TU was my last gag track and I am within 200pts of maxing it. I was considering the "balanced" approach with Sarah, but I just can't stand it, I don't seem to be getting anywhere. So, I'm going to go ahead and work from the bottom up. I know that is the easy way out, but once I have the main two, I can concentrate on the others. Thank you all for your valuable advice. You guys rock!

I always have to have throw and squirt even! It just seems so sloppy to me because I have to have things ordered. My eyes twitch at sloppy....Next I get lure or sound maxxed. Probably the last thing I get maxxed is drop/trap.

For me, on all my toons, it seems THE hardest track to max is TU! I seem to play with decent players and we kill the cogs instead of leaving them to attack us. Now what I've done is taken baby toons with my bigger toons that need to work tu and I don't lure the cogs, so they have to hit the baby toon and need tu Smile Of course this method doesn't work well when others join the bldg with us. Eventually TU gets maxed though.

I have another toon I'm working that got the "give a pie to Cleff" task yesterday. She was at about 1200 maybe for throw, so I had to go in bldg after bldg and work that throw to get the pie to cleff. I hate having tasks hanging around for awhile Smile Now she needs to work squirt more and get her hose. I was thankful to get into River to work the bldgs as it was taking forever in the other districts.

My 3 track sell uber is pretty even with all the tracks so far. I guess I like things looking uniform when I look at the gag page.

You are right, TU seems to be the hardest to max for me Laughing . I must have really skilled friends for players, we don't seem to get hit very often. Rolling Eyes So far I'm up to thundercloud on squirt for Sarah Sunshine, and it seems to be coming along just fine. Throw I work as necessary when the group I'm with for some reason won't work squirt (shrugs), and the rest are come as they will. I'm about 25 pts away from my next TU, so I can probably get that today.
