Gag Debate - What's the most useful and least useful?
View Single PostView Single Post

Sound: This gag is useful against MANY cogs. I has a pretty good damage rate too. It also has a HIGH accuracy.

Lure: This gag is useful because if it works and is used against a bunch of cogs, those cogs will not be able to attack in the next round. BUT this gag has LOW accuracy.

Trap: The good thing about this gag is that it has PERFECT accuracy, but it RELIES on Lure (which is a low accuracy) What's up with that?

Drop: These gags are pretty powerful, but there is a low accurasy rate. The highest damage rate for these is 180...But the thing is, to make this more accurate, you gotta hit this with another gag first, and these DO NOT WORK ON LURED GAGS. (grr)

My gag track is sound, trap, drop, squirt, throw, and I am training for toon-up right now.

I believe that sound and toon-up gags are absolutely essential. Sound is essential because if used correctly with other toons, yall can wipe out a bunch of cogs in one round. Toon-up is essential because if you try to go into a factory or somewhere, and lose one of your toons, it is more likely the rest of yall will lose.

Lure annoys me to no end because of all the things that cannot be used against them. I notice that most toons do not have trap though, and I would choose Lure over Trap because it prevents cogs from attacking. I chose trap, though, because I misunderstood what was on the Toontown website about it having to rely on Lure.

I guess I gotta work with it though.

What are your thoughts on gags, and why did you choose the gags that you did? What gags do you think are essential, and what gags could you do without?

Each of my toons carry different gags. I love my lureless mouse. She is more of a challenge. All of my toons carry toon up but with a rockin doodle - it's not a top priority. Also, I find that with a good bunch of toons I don't use that much toonup. Cool

I love my drop gags. They miss as much as any other gag. As for trap, lure misses when trap is thrown wrong.....which causes the other to happen? Who knows.

I can't vote. I have one of each possible build and I love them all. The hardest for me to play is the lureless. I don't think I would ever do that again. The Tu-less does just fine, thank you. He's survived 2 of 2 4-toon CFOs. I understand that people are afraid of him, though, and never force him on anyone. I love to play soundless. I would probably make more of those. Much as I love all the gags, I would NEVER want for all 7 tracks to be available. That would be TOO BORING. Actually all 7 tracks are already available through SOS cards, anyway. My toons are all different and I love them all! Everyone has different opinions based on how they like to play. That's the beauty of TT! Smile

Pig is my only Toon Up-less toon. It's hard to watch someone take a hit and not being able to do anything about it. But if you make the right choices, most of the time you come out on top!

Sorry I got a bit off topic, there. In my opionion, the squirt gag is the most useless gag track out there. I'll sacrifice a little accuracy for some decent firepower!

Lure = life
hee hee!
Lure makes it possible to do more things on our own then any of the other gags.
I end up spending a lot of time running solo factories and large buildings so lure is essential (soloing a coin is rough and I've never tried to solo a DA!). Of drop and trap, I like drop better - again because of doing so much solo stuff.

I guess it would depend on the person seeing the replies given. I had to vote for lure, only because it allows me to do bldg. by myself when I don't have any friends on to help. I did however make a mistake of choosing lure for my uber instead of sound, she has done one VP and did ok but that is only thanks to all of the wonderful toons here at TTF. I love the sound and its something you really want to have especially for those mints and DA's. I also love my drop, haven't tried trap so I can't voice anything on that one. I like being trapless and think I would probably stay that way b/c I also love drop. See I can't make up my mind so I am no help. Rolling Eyes

I'm with Aunt Trixie as I love playing my lureless mouse. I've done the factory solo before and some buildings solo with her. It's all how you use your gags. Razz I miss having drop on one of my toons but not as much as I would miss having trap. All my toons will have trap except the ubers. I'm making a new lureless one now, as I only need one big toon with lure on each acct to help babies on the opposite acct.

I think you just say that Z because your lureless toon is ummm not much to look at. Mr. Green

I think that trap isn't that important. I definitely need lure and TU!

Toon-up is the most important, but lure is the most useful.

Excuse me, my lureless toon is almost painfully handsome. Razz It's funny that he's my least favorite build, though. I made him because my lure stinks so bad I figured why bother with it? Laughing

Lure is the best...
- you don't need TU
- you can take any size toon anywhere
- you control game play

So much really depends on the type of play you do.
With my toons that are over 100 laff, I hardly ever use toon-up anymore (which is why stupid Mimi still hasn't maxed her juggling cubes!). If I'm with others, we don't get into too much trouble and if I'm alone, I can't use it on myself Smile

Maybe Mimi should play more with Lady Z so there are more cogs hits to handle Smile

Most useful has gotta be lure. It's saved my neck many times.

Least usefull? No gag irritates me more than DROP! If it's maxxed, it works pretty good. Anything short of maxxed? Forget it! It's gonna miss! GRRRRR

I absolutely love drop! I really love trap too Smile I made Loopy with no trap, then a few other toons after him HAD to have trap! Only one of those maxed trap so far. Anyways, another toon is up to LOM to pick the final task and I think she'll go for drop.

The top power for drop is 198 for the boat, if planted. Piano would be 187 planted. Trap at least will kill level 12s if planted.

Trixie - how did you choose lure over sound? Do you mean TU over Sound?

I love drop because you get to knock a cog out in one go and still get the gag points for it.
I don't know which is the worst gag because they're all pretty good.

I have to vote for Lure. It's saves me when I decide to go headfirst into a 4 story building (I'll take a 5 story by myself if I have my wedding cake or geyser)

All my lures are medium accuracy because I decided to be organic with them Smile

Drop without a doubt is the best gag out there. I dislike sound with a burning passion. Yet my TUless HAS to have it(groan). I dislike sound because evryone overrates it. for one extra round you can kill the same cogs with 4 birthday cakes on lured cogs. And EVERYONE can use throw. I don't understand what the big deal about sound is. It does the 2nd least damage, and who cares if you don't have it? Toontown gave you a choice for a reason! Its fast, but soundless is just as fast if you are smart about it. And with the new cog golf courses and the CEO, you are going to be using a lot of sound restocks i fyou want to sound your way through everything.

I can see how many here like lure. However having an uber I realize that it just misses too much. Drop and lure are supposed to have the same accuracy, but I find that when drop hits level 4, it hits a LOT. Lure is not that great of a choice for a sell uber because it is inaccurate and its not like any sell uber can have trap. But Lure can affect all cogs making it valuable. And if it does hit, then the cogs can't hit you. But for my uber, thats where I want a card, a sure fire hit. And there are other options that do what lure does, cogs miss, and toons hit. But niether of those give you knockback.

Trap is powerful, and unlike what Zippy says, it cannot be thrown wrong (it just means that the lurer doesn't have quality lure). You might think it would be easy to advance gags in because it can never miss, but many people do not take the time to lure. And if they do lure, it often misses. Maroon5dancer had a day on a now deleted toon, where her lure missed 10 times in a row. A few days later it hit around 10 times in a row. It is hard to train trap unless you and everyone else with you has lure. It is too streaky to count on to make trap work. But the organic TNT, kills a 12. Organic Railroad, kills a row of 12s.

Now, for my FAVORITE gag. Drop. It can kill a cog one level higher than its level when it hits level 3. The damage never goes up until the piano. Despite what people say, I find it to be quite accurate. Its usually when 2 toons use it that the accuracy seems to lower. Confused Since I have put drop on a tree, it seems to be more accurate (isn't that just a lure thing?) It is essential if you solo buildings. And the cards are pretty good. But barnacle Bessie is the only good one. Clumsy Ned drops safe pianos. My safe does more than his piano. However Moe Zart (or is it Sid Sonata) does MORE than a fog horn, normal or organic.

TU is a gag that you don't always need. But when the time comes, you want it with you. It is more important earlier on because toons have lower laff meters so they can take fewer hits. If someone has 137 laff and the lose40 they have 97. If someone has 50 laff and they lose 40 they have 10. Would you use a TU on someone wih 97 or someone with 10? Tuing the 97 would seem a waste of time. If they lose 30 more then would you (67laff)? You actually should because a pixie dust does 70 at max. Unless they are the only person besides you, no other TU will get them to full laff. I thought about the whole thing with toons needing TUs more when they have lower laff when I decided to turn my trapless into a sell uber. I figured other ubers are going to need TU and I have TU so I can be an uber .

Squirt is almost entirely usless. It has good accuracy, low low, low, low damage. And its best use is waking up cogs without making drop usless. The storm cloud is the equivalent of 2 cream pies. The storm cloud can kill an 8 with knockback, and a 7 without knockback. It is good to finish off cogs with, and the storm cloud fire hose combo is the best DA strategy yet that I have seen. Its not surprising that I haven't seen one person be happy about getting Sophie Squirt or a squirt unite. If I ever get a squirt unite, I am going to go to the gag shop and get rid of the excess waste.

Throw. Throw. Throw. This is a a gag that you want lure for. Knockback is awesome for this. A maxxed bday cake does 150 with knockback. Wedding cake + lure= -4 level11s. I'll put this in words. If someone lures the cogs and you use a wedding cake, it can take out a row of 11s with knockback which, tell me if I'm wrong, always gets knockback. 3 cream pies,1 lure, 1 level 11 cog. And the 11 is most likely gone! At one time I loved throw so much that I made a toon that would complete the game with a squirt gun and maxxed throw. Didn't happen. They didn't make it out of Melodyland. It was too darn annoying and pointless.

Sorry about making this so long. I was just making a pro and con list for each gag in my head and decided to put it on here.

that was quite a thesis, Nachopop. Rolling Eyes I am all for lure. I have a trap-less and a drop-less toon already and i don't mind going around with no trap or drop. All of my toons have lure and sound, which I am thankful for. Sound is nice for, say, DAs and Mints, but it's not essential. I do like having lure, though, because its nice to not have to worry about dying while tooning each other up. BUT I'm not a TU enthusiest, meaning I'm okay with having my TUless-to-be. (because I hate trying to max TU. YOU NEVER USE IT when you become 100+) Thus my vote for lure.
