Dean Poised for Direct Hit on Jamaica

Jamaica converted schools, churches and the indoor national sports arena into shelters and authorities urged people to take cover from a storm that could rake the country with winds of 145 mph and dump up to 20 inches of rain.

"It's going to be very, very serious," said Lawrence Samuel as he shopped for emergency groceries while his wife and son went to the hardware store for plywood and other supplies.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami said the first hurricane of the Atlantic season was projected to reach the most dangerous hurricane classification, Category 5, with winds of 160 mph before crashing into the Mexican coastline near Cancun on Monday night or Tuesday. The Mexican mainland or Texas could be hit later.

Stay safe our dear Prince! (or better yet....GET YE OUT OF THERE)!!!!

I saw a report on the Weather Channel web site and the reporter said that they even had internet he was not on the south side of the island though...please give us an update when you can...

According to the news reports I've seen, the Prime Minister ordered the power shut off to save the grids and as of the 5pm news, it had not been turned back on yet.

It seems Jamaica was spared severe damage, which is good news for our Prince and his family.

Ever since the hurricane started the weather has been wacky. It's supposed to be rainy for the next week!

I'm glad severe damage was not brought upon you, Prince.

Hi guys. Just got back electricity few minutes ago. I tell you, 5 days without electricity and water will do things to a man...even a PRINCE! Very Happy

I'm alright. Although it wasn't without it's fair share of problems. I live on a hill in St. Andrew, which overlooks the entire city of Kingston & St. Andrew. Because I live high up, I got some pretty gusty winds than those on the flat. The roof in my living room leaked after a few hours of constant high winds beating against it. Living room then turned into a little river. Which I had remembered to put "Dinghy (it's a small rubber boat)" on my supermarket list. Sad

Wind pushed water through glass doors in my parents room. Soaked the carpet. Thus water started to leak to the floor below. Had to grab bed and mattress to a dryer part of the house and bunk for the nights.

But Monday morning was a relief. No winds. Cool breeze. Cloudy. BUT NO RAIN! whew! lol
Then had to clean out, mop out, dry out, air out the house. Was a busy day.
Then had to wait next 5 days for them to fix any problems with the light polls and wires and get back electricity.

I read so many books (and reread them again) during this week. Got lots of sleep too. lol
*sigh*

Dunno what happened to Dean after it hit Mexico. Hope no one here was in it's path.

THANK YOU ALL for your prayers. Appreciated it a whole lot.
