Losing your approved toon name?!
View Single PostView Single Post

My toon, Nada Muggle, has lost her name. She is now named "Toon." Why on the earth did this happen? It took forever to get a name approved... they shouldn't be able to take it away! There is nothing offensive about it! Good grief... might as well take away Goliath... there might be some Phillistines out there who would be offended by it.

Not happy,

Megan

I have never heard of taking away a name after its already been approved. How horrible...love your comment about the Philistines though, hee hee gotta watch out for them.

I am so sorry, that stinks!

Somebody probably reported your name to Disney.
Disney has so many name requirements. Sometimes things get through b/c it gets approved by people of different cultures that don't understand what we silly Americans are actually saying. Nada Muggle- I saw your name and it cracked me up.
But there are people who assume that means you are of the wizarding world, and do take offense to that. That will lead to a vent for me. I do want to say I'm sorry!

It happened to my son. He eventually got it back after months of trying and different spellings. So try submitting it again.

Someone here got theirs back after complaining. Maybe try that too?

I'm sorry to hear that. It is much more common than people realize. A very large percentage of my friends in TT have had their names taken away. Some of them just change it to something else. Others keep entering the same name until it gets approved again. One friend had her name taken away 3 times. The last time, it took her months to get it back, but she never gave up. Disney took it away 3 times and it is still her name, lol. If you are patient enough to keep at it, I believe that you will get it back.

Happened to someone I know. He has a yellow dog that was named Cujo. It was reported and he's now Toon. He's keeping "Toon" to alert others and protest Smile

Sometimes it can be a copyright issue, offense issue, etc. I've seen some really bad TT generated names produced that I've reported, not sure if anything happened with them though.

Yep it is annoying. The email that I received back from Disney was the form letter for why names are not approved. So I emailed back to ask why this name was approved and then taken away. Good grief... problem with Magical names from the Magic Kingdom?! Hate to tell people but there really aren't wizards in the world... magic is just pretend. And if they have a problem with it, then don't buy Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, or The Little Mermaid to name a few. Ugh.

It happened to me too. My mouse (who is now named Pixy) had the name Mighty Mouse for over two years and then one day I signed on and she was renamed Toon. I understand why they did it since it is a cartoon character's name, but I wasn't happy that it took them two years to take the name back. Just recently I saw a toon on test and one on open named Mighty Mouse. Go figure!

Why would they even want to do that in the first place? Wow, Disney really is trying to push people's buttons nowadays, innit?
