Soundless Toons - Whats wrong with them?
View Single PostView Single Post

So I was just going into the Mint in Cashbot HQ, three toons stood there and I decided to join them and assumed it was ok.
When a brown dog, 103 laff by the name of grim reaper told me I should've chosen sound. Then said "We are in trouble".
I told him no. The other two ignored him and joined me in the elevator but he just kept saying that I should've chosen sound.
He then ran away and hassled me after that AND he brought his friend with me and they both hassled me. Saying stuff like "Bring it on!" & "It's not over til its over!"
Only thing that I said was "You stink!" & "Please don't bother me."
What is wrong with soundless toons? We are just as good as those who have sound! We aren't handicapped!
I'm a 90 toon now and I don't want people telling me what I should've chosen. I'm happy with my toon.
And what really gives me ants in my pants is when I'm battling cogs and the other toons choose sound and I can't do my bit -_-"
Any other soundless toons here who've been hassled like that?

Yep....other soundless toons go thru what you are talking about. It won't get any better....sorry! If sound is killing all cogs then use Lure. Might be best to just ignore them....

Some people will not load with soundless toons....

I don't have a soundless toon, but I think they rock! I have a friend who's soundless and she gets the hardest time, but we fight back at the toons that are mean to her and we end up winning. Very Happy

There is nothing wrong with a soundless toon, but you are just beginning to encounter the hastles that you'll get. The mints and the DA's, and even the factories, you'll get people that just want to go through fast. Using sound is the fastest way to get er done. It's just something that I know being a sounding toon, that once you get to the mints, you'd better have that fog, or the toons don't like to board with you. Yes, you do get those toons that will board with you still, but the majority will hold back. I know it's something that I look for, when you have so many mints/DA's to do, it's nice to whiz through.

I am sorry that you encountered such rotten toons that day. I would never ridicule someone just because they didn't choose a certain gag...that's just not nice. Good luck to you, keep that chin up!

They just don't like soundless because they don't know how to do math. They only know one strategy and they have no idea how to play other ways. It's too bad that it is like that, but it does happen a lot. I don't shuffle off soundless, but I do have to say that when I go into mints/DAs with soundless, it takes much longer than it needs to. That isn't because of the soundless toons. It is because the toons with sound can't do the math and end up underkilling the whole time and using toonup anytime anyone get hits.

I think the soundless toon is the one that has to really pay attention as to which cog will be remaining after the others sound. They are the one's doing the math.

I do agree that yes, a lot of players do not know what will kill and what won't when they are so used to doing it one way. It's very frustrating when you go into a mint with 110+ toons, and they are saying lets all go for the same cog.....using a cake, and two creme pies on a lured 10, when they said that to me, I decided to pass!!! Obviously they have never been a DA before!!! Shocked

I think the most difficult thing about a soundless toon is the bias and it is the only gag you just have to know what damage it does even if is is a gag that you are not carrying.

Before I had a toon that carried trap I had no idea what damage trap did. I never really made the effort to figure it out either and it wasn't a problem. But not carrying sound you really need to know how many fogs are needed to take out 10's etc. That way you can do the math and take the appropriate action whether it be luring because the sound will take out the cogs or hitting the biggest cog with a pie to take it out when sound leaves it standing.

I think the funniest thing is when little toons tell my 109 toon not to use sound on lured cogs when they pick sound and I pick lure because the sound up will take out the cogs. It is good advice in some cases but luring for a group to sound also has merit.

I think everyone should learn the math *shrug*. Or ONLY go with those you hand pick.

It's certainly any toon's right to go or not go with whomever they choose, but the fact is most people only know sound and have no intention of learning any math. I'm not saying all soundless know it either, I definitely have seen those that don't! If everyone would just pay attention, it doesn't take too much to figure it out. If you don't want to, more power to you, but don't blame it on the other guy, and for sure don't go with him and whine to him the entire way!

FWIW, I have run with from 1 to 4 soundless and if you know what you're doing it's every bit as fast as with sound. But you do have to think and work together. Most people don't want to worry about that and that's their right. I admit there are times I would rather just blow through it.

My god! There's plenty wrong with them.

1. They are usually short, fat little stinky toons.

No honestly, nothing, I have one myself. I wish his other gags were maxed though. They almost are, but not quite.

You should stick with the crew here, because your time online will be fun, and it won't be filled with anything but the most gentle of harrasment.

Having Maxed my mute dog in all three HQ's, I can tell you either surround yourself with a group of faithful friends who will never make you go to the mints/DA offices alone or toughen up and be prepared to have some frustrating times. Also, while you can run the DA's nearly as fast as soundless as with sound...most of the time you won't. PPl won't know how to play with 1 soundless and/or, they will bail and you will run with less than a full group.

Sound is the most powerful gag we can carry. Why do I say that? With one gag each...one shot...you can take out a row of 12's or higher. No other gag offers that kind of power. But....everyone has to have that maxed fog horn. If you show up not carrying a horn, it means things are going to have to be played a little differently and some just prefer not to play any other way. IMHO...Their Loss! But the rejection and stinky phrases hurt.

I did a large percentage of my notices with randoms. I can honestly say that most were friendly. However, I had my share of those who would leave after the first battle when they found out I didn't have sound. There was one cat...that every time she loaded with me, I knew after the first set of cogs she would leave. I continued to load with her because I figured it was as or more inconvenient for her than for me.

Also, get prepared for the gag workers. The second they find out you can't sound..out come their traps and other unmaxed gags. EVERYTHING seems to slow down when you run soundless.

My soundless toon likes to choose last because he has more flexiblity than others. I like to try to eliminate one more cog. If they use 2 fogs/1ele...I target an 11 and hit him with something or drop a safe. If they all use fog...I choose tu or lure....or sometimes put a piano on the 11 just in case sound misses. I carry the phrase "You First" so others will hurry and choose and I will know how to play.

One last thing...I find it's always helpful to let them know as soon as possible that you don't have sound....but usually not BEFORE the first set of cogs are engaged. Smile
