What is an Uber??
View Single PostView Single Post

I see people talking about Ubers and I can't find anything that tells me what it is and why people are making them.
I haven't been playing that long, my main toon only has 60lp. I still have never gotten a full sell suit to try the VP. Is there a place where I can learn about the basics of all the things people are doing?

Thanks!
Kitty

At one time, Kitty, I would have agreed with you. But once I got Bear to where he is now, bossbots (especially vp) got really boring. I ran into an uber one day and thought that this may be a challenge to keep alive in the factory. Can't remember who it was, but wow they were AWESOME! I still resisted for a while, and then created an experimental uber (Pig Laggin). I have such a fun time with him. You get so spoiled by the 3 digit hit points that you start to take it for granted. Now Pig has 36LP, and you can't take anything for granted with him. You have to be on the ball and know what will take out a cog (do the math - if you will). You, also, have to develop and utilize excellent teamwork.

I found that after the first time I became aware that an uber was fighting the VP on my side (probably fought with one before TTF, but just thought they had low laff points--had no idea what an uber was), I felt that I had to be much more conscious of things--level of cogs, points the gag will deduct, etc. I felt I had a responsibility as a non-uber to play the best I could so the uber would survive. I loved the challenge and really enjoyed playing with the uber. I still love it. I may get the courage up one day to make an uber, but I think I'm just too chicken. Cool

Thank you for explaining! I can see the challenge in it. I can also see where it might be a challenge to get others to let you run with them. I would imagine there are people that just look at the LP and not the gag levels.
Good luck you ubers!

Ubers also get together to do an all uber run. 8 toons all under 40 fighting the VP. One wrong play and your whole side can go SAD.

There was a recent run where all of the toons only had 2 gag tracks... Throw and Squirt and the highest laff was 29. All 8 danced as the VP went over the edge. Talk about living dangerously Mr. Green

Just another way to make the game more interesting....

But, it is true you have to have some tough toon skin as many toons won't go with you in the factory. I guess if they don't check gags, it makes sense. But, my uber has some special phrases like 'Don't be too sure!' when other toons tell her it is too risky for her. I even take Miss S on short solo factory runs (I tend to glitch passed the warehouse). And, if lure doesn't miss on the Foreman, then I'm golden Smile

We have done these all-2-tracker VPs three times so far, and danced everytime. Interestingly enough, all three were 5 star SOS cards. It is a totally different strategy when you only carry two tracks, and trusting your teammates is key.
My current 2 tracker will be maxing soon in this way, with this group of awesome players. She currently is sitting at HW47.

I just befriended, what I think, is an uber-in-training. He had only 3 tracks at level 5 and only 34 lp. After we defeated a few cogs and were receiving our xp I noticed that his said 'xxx points over over guest limit'. What does that mean?

I have played this game for some time now. I don't run an uber because I have about half the time I need for my current toons. I can say though, without exception, that the uber drivers have taught me more about strategy, technique, gag building, and patience than I'd have EVER learned on my own. You'd call me the runt of the litter compared to others I began playing with. No matter, ubers are formidable cog-killing masters who are really much sharper players on their bad days than I am on my good ones. Why not..? They have paid the price to get there.

As for me, I don't think I'll ever grow one - the time factor and all. But I'd run with any of them any time - friend or random (once at least) without hesitation if I can tell it's an uber by the gag levels. Incidentally, the uber practice of growing laff-slow and building gags is worth consideration for all. As I have posted before, those more challenging tasks (LOM for example) are much easier with big gags than small ones.

GL to all you ubers and ubers-in-the making. And Blessins all round.
