Granny Mo Mo .... I could actually cry I have tried so many things but this is what has happened for me
I thought I had downloaded the driver from the laptopsite and I even thought i installed it but when checking the properites of my driver it still listed the date of 2004. I was so frustrated I contacted Disney again and Forrest says to me ok no worries just use opengl and that should solve all your troubles. To go to opengl mode was the .... directions I gave above from Forrest the (go to run and type in blah blah blah ....)
anyway things were going great until I crashed again in VP so I am in the same place I was before.
I am going to check out the laptop site again and see what I may have done or not done there so as of Now Granny nada nada darn thing has changed still crashing but I promise I will figure this out and I will let you in on it as soon as I do !

I was going to ask the same thing! I went to the website and said, "Hmmmm...." I am not a computer idiot by any means, but that site was a bit overwhelming, especially not knowing exactly what I was looking for or where to go! *sigh* I'll keep plugging away myself. Thanks for the info, you guys. You're great!

Any of our drivers should work for you, but I'd start with 72.14 since it was originally designed for MCE and works well with the FX series adapters. There's a separate MCE folder included, with an additional MCE program you need to run. Let us know if you have any trouble with it.

Sorry that I didn't get to this sooner. I wound up having to head into work today and just got back home. From the documentation that I've been weeding through for the past 10 mins, the ones that I would personally recommend would be the 81.98 series. I noticed below that someone else on the board recommended the 72.14. They 72.14 update may be a good first update, but the 81.98 series drivers are also designed to work with MCE, are recognized as WHQL compliant (microsoft windows guaranteed compliancy), and provide corrections to other issues encountered after the release date of the 72 series drivers. I also chose the 81.98 driver over the 82.12 (newest) due to WHQL status (it generally guarantees that the driver will play well with your system, and while I don't see why the latest and greatest shouldn't have the same cert, but since we're working to correct an issue, it's better to stick with what has a better chance of helping the situation.

Just my two cents.

You know, you'll still have to update your drivers, unless of course they already are... then you'll have to roll them back Wink

Great news about the new update. I just wonder what problems they will be introducing through this new update.

Yes Sir Monty this was mentioned along with the directions on how to go about doing that....I will get the email and copy and paste what I was told. I was just so happy to hear there is hope yet and I really believe they got so tired of me. I was relentless. I told them I am right down the street and I know right where your offices are how about I just bring in my laptop so you can get a crash for yourself. Smile

I wasn't trying to be mean. It's just that in my experiences and many others those are the only two troubleshooting steps ever given by Disney. If you drivers aren't up to date, update them... if they are, roll them back so that you can be told to update them again at a later date.

This in no way is meant to discolor Forrest's reputation. I've dealt with him on a few occasions, and while he still has to toe the company line, he at least seems to give a [durn] about the problem you're having.

I tell you, I'm about to ready to contact disney and ask if they would mind someone actually correcting issues in their client code base and submitting patch files to them. I'm just trying to decide if I have enough time to dedicate to it before I ask.

Well, Jacee Lee, at least you have good news! Keep us updated on the info you get! I, on the other hand, can NOT get any updates for my laptop. I continue to get the same error message repeatedly. Extremely frustrating, because I can NOT play on my laptop and VP without crashing, or while in a factory, or in a building... UGH!!

Weren't you able to grab the updates I linked to? Are the updates giving you a specific error or do they just not seem to update on your system?

I tried the links. They are giving me a specific error message saying they cannot find any hardware on my system. Rolling Eyes When I get on the laptop again (I have to leave it alone or it's tossed in the street!!) I'll try again and copy the exact message.

Not really. I don't care how bad the hardware is, it always winds up in worse shape once it lands in the middle of the street. Laughing

I also didn't say what it was perfectly good for, now did I?
