Remember this is only a game! That is what I keep telling myself. I have been playing TT for over a year now but I am fairly new to TTF. I use TT to keep connected with my children since we don't live together and I travel a lot. My oldest has found more interest in Webkins, my youngest only likes Goofy's Speedway and my middle child (who just turned 9) has out grown TT; yet I am still stuck here. Remember this is only a game!
I have found your Cog runs to be very useful and they make my trek towards "ToonMaster of the Universe" much more quicker. However I have a point of discussion for you Toons out there if you care to share your comments.
I see there are other posts on some of the players pet peaves. Yes I don't like Toons that will use other Toons for their own agenda (see “Slacker Toons in the Factory” by bugaboodan http://www.toontownfriends.com/toontown-discussion5617.html) I also don't like it when inexperienced Toons try to take command/control of the battle. I was in a run to battle the Sellbot Forman the other day and this young Toon, in laugh points, was telling the rest of us to use sound during every battle, then in turn he uses throw or squirt at the weakest cog making his choice ineffective. This greatly slowed down our progress.
But the point that I would like to discuss today (yes I know I am taking a long time to get to my point) is from the 10:30pm VP run yesterday (Saturday). Some may think that there is confliction between two of the CCG Guidelines listed below.
Guideline
Taking cogs out 1 at time using "Lure left/kill right" is the preferred strategy of the CCG. This protects all toons but especially low-laff toons…
Guideline
...Use a gag only if you are certain you have enough backup for a kill. Throw and squirt are the attack gags relied on most. Often it is better to combine same kind gags for a kill rather than mix gags and risk one missing.
In both battles I was stuck with this Toon that had 34 LP. She was also maxed out in tune-up, lure, throw, & squirt. So obviously this Toon had some experience whether being young or old. Assumably her quest was to be a Maxed Out Sellbot with the lowest LP - good for her. What annoyed me was this Toon kept on saying "Lets all go for the same Cog." This Toon would have a fit saying things like "No", "You should choose a different Cog" and "Lets all go for the same Cog." If everyone didn't go for the same Cog then she would pull her gag. At one point she even pulled her lure because I threw a trap at a different cog. In both battles (lower and upper level) our side was the last to finish and on the upper level battle when the other side came over to us we still had 4 untouched level 11/12 cogs to destroy. Also, everytime this Toon was hit I would tune her up to 100%. IMPORTANT NOTE: All Toons made it out of this run alive.
Now I have been to Toon University, I excelled at Toon Mathematics 101, Cog Geometry, and Advanced Cog Physics; Mickey even placed me on his Deans list. So I know that 2 crème pies will kill a level 6 cog, 3 fire hoses will kill a level 8 cog, and my birthday cake or dynamite will kill a level 10 lured cog. My philosophy in a Toon Battle is to go through them quickly, make sure all Toon come out alive, and help out the inexperienced Toons.
I keep telling myself remember this is only a game! Thanks for listening to my rambling, I hope I didn't offend anyone and I appreciate all comments; both good and bad. Hey if you think I am wrong then tell me I am wrong

Hi I can definately see where your going with this. I for one did not excel at Toon Mathematics!
or any of those other courses ( I was in the special classes ) Some people not ALL ( small percentage) tend to get a little upset when you make an oops! I usually just go with the flow in runs and when I cant I close my eyes and hope for the best! I cringe when I go in with ubers cause I dont want to be the blame for them going sad.....I'm definately still learning on the strategic order but I've been lucky to meet some pretty nuturing and forgiving toons here! Otherwise I wouldnt be here. I dont like to see when toons get upset at other toons when there not up to par as they would like, Again like you said this is a game, a Disney game...

They are just guidelines as you said and the LLKR is used when you are sided with low laff toons as it is a very successful way to get the little laffs through. The CCG is not the same as TTF runs (we have no guidelines except have fun and dance) although many of us go on CCG runs it is not us. I think the second guideline is there so if that if you do decide to choose a different cog that it is killed. The problem many see with that is you then have two cogs that will come out and they could be large ones. If lure misses on two 12's then it's enough to send a low laff toon back to the playground. Personally, I just go with what laff the other toons on my side have. If they are big enough to withstand two hits then I'll take out a second cog if possible. If not, then I stick to killing one so only one comes out. I see what you mean about it being confusing that's why I just go with the flow of the other toons on my side. If they are NOT comfortable with taking out two or even three cogs at a time, then I don't. If they want to kill as many as possible then I go with that whichever toon I'm playing. Having an uber on your side though I would not have taken out more than one to help ensure she made it to the end.
I know it comes out as "bossy" when toons say these things, but for the most part, I think they are just trying to help and make sure everyone dances. It's always entertaining to me when I bring a little toon of mine in and the big toons assume that I'm clueless and will "mess" up if they don't tell me what to do. I just laugh to myself and don't say anything. Once they see I'm not gonna banana peel the 12 then they leave me alone.
As far as her pulling back her lure, would your trap have killed the cog? Was it the uber who pulled it back? Many toons and yes myself included, don't like to see "trap" workers in the boss battles especially when on an uber toon in a CCG run. Remember they are just guildelines and not ones that everyone reads before going on CCG runs.
Not sure that helped, but just my opinion on it.

Every rule has it's exceptions. The LLKR and make sure you can kill it are really just guidelines that do work pretty well in most cases (although some of us ubers still prefer sound ). There are some situations, that you learn about in Advanced Uberology 202, where it's much safer to vary from these guidelines. For example, the cog line has 3 little cogs and 1 big cog. No matter where the big cog is standing, a toon with a degree in uberology will target the biggest cog. This is because wether the little cogs are lured or not, they can survive the hits.
It doesn't sound like presentation was used in the skeles, but when it is an uber will generally want to switch to PKL (Presentation Kill Left). Since presentation holds for many many rounds, we can keep taking out the new cog that comes out on the left until they stop coming. The first 3 right cogs lured will not be taken out until the very end.
Not being there, I can't say why she might have pulled her lure - from the way you've described it I don't get the impression that you were the dreaded "trap worker" that so often causes the demise of ubers. If the toon is listed on CCG, you might pm him/her and ask what strategy she was trying to convey. I'm glad to hear you all danced

Question about trap users in the boss runs bothering ubers--do you mean that if the toon chooses a low damage trap, that this is what bothers the ubers? Or is it because lure might not work, the cog is still around that was "trapped" and could hurt the uber and other players? I'm really interested in this point, since I use trap at boss runs when I know it will kill the cog by itself (only if lure works, of course). Thanks!

If you are using LLKR strategy, then there is no opportunity to use trap (except on the first set). Strict LLKR lures the new cog on the left while killing the cog on the right and ONLY the cog on the right. This is because if 2 cogs are taken out, 2 new cogs come out - the 2 new cogs could both be level 12s and if lure misses it's back to the pg for the uber.
Note: I am speaking of pure LLKR . . . some ubers prefer to play a little riskier, but still aren't too happy about marbles on 12s

When I am talking about using trap or any other gag by itself or in combination with other Toons I fully intend for that Cog to blow up. The high-pitched whine from an injured Cog makes my Doodle howl beyond belief. Does anybody else’s Doodle do this?
Like I said previously I am new to TTF. I just found out about the CCG last week. Thanks for telling me about the TTF runs as well. I have also added them to my schedule.
I also see your point about two Cogs killed = two new Cogs coming out. Possibly level 11/12 and the lure might miss. I never thought about it in those terms. Thanks.
Advanced Uberology 202: I still need to knock out Uberology 101 (prereq) first but every time I go to sign up for it it’s usually full. They must be good courses though.
"If the toon is listed on CCG" How do I find this, I looked for it after it was mentioned in the above post and could not. I have also tried to look up other Toons in TTF but only see a username search which is of no help.
I appreciate the comments and other tidbits of advice.

You can always visit the TTC (toontowncentral.com) site, and on the left is a nav bar with the CCG listed. If you follow that link to the CCG forum and look on the left again, there will be a link to the CCG website. You should be able to access a list of toons from there... Happy hunting!

Being the impatient toon that I am (and the one that is totally math impaired when it comes to cogs), I get frustrated with the LLKR policy. However, if I have an uber I really do try to stay to that rule. We have some crazy, risk-crazed ubers on TTF that have chosen sound and like to use it in the boss battles. However, as an example of the last run I was on. The uber was all for us using sound so we cleared out those pesky level 3s and 4s. The next 4 cogs that came out (first cog round on VP to be precise) were 2 level 12s, a 10 and a 7!! That is a big yikes for the uber toon. Sure enough, lure missed. It was just lucky that the cogs targeted other toons. I hate to send a toon on our team back to the playground.
We had a trap worker on one of our TTF runs in the last few weeks with mid-laff toons (not ubers, so didn't have maxed gags). It killed 2 of our toons. Even with a maxed toon, I couldn't keep the cogs lured and kill them off at a pace that would keep everyone alive. That is frustrating, so the rules for CCG are pretty sound. Since the purpose of the CCG is to take rookies and mid-laffers through without kiling them, it really works for that.
If you come on TTF runs and if we are all higher laff Toons, you will definitely see some more *interesting* strategies play out . (Be careful what you wish for!!)

I can carry a lot more $10 bills than goggles. For me personally, when smaller toons are involved (whether it be small in laff or gags), I find the battle goes better if i only have to lure one cog at a time. It takes a little longer, but it is worth seeing everyone dance.

Thankyou for posting that Heidi. My brain hurts too (hee Hee) Its comforting to know that there are other ttf's that share my pain! Its funny to read these strategies and I think to myself "Are ya kidding me?" I have to take notes and fear for the test! I spend more time learning these equations then I ever did in math class! ( I know sad huh)

No. Good luck!
After rereading the OP, I believe the trap was put on a second cog, and that is why the uber withdrew lure. I've done this same thing when a toon tries to trap a second cog. It isn't the best choice, but really, what else can you do when a trapping toon won't follow LLKR? If I was on a trapper, I'd cancel his trap with another trap. If I am on a sounder, I'd probably sound hoping it would take out most of the cogs. Either way, the reaction to a toon selecting a second cog leaves the team in a vulnerable state, where sticking to LLKR reduces the risk considerably.

Another side of the whole trap thing that really has nothing to do with playing with an uber and following the LLKR strategy is the toons that contiually trap the new cog with no consideration to how long the cogs will stay lured. With goggles you get 4 rounds before they wake up and with big magnet you get 3. In cases with smaller toons on a TTF run where we don't follow the LLKR strategy as closely this point must be remembered. I can't tell you how many times I have been with a set of toons that continually take out the left cog and then seem surprised when that 12 on the right wakes up and attacks.
So while I do agree that on TTF runs we can take out more than one cog often, don't ignore the cogs on the right they will not stay lured forever.
I have also heard so much about using presentation and killing only the new cog. Having ended up in a VP in the skel round alone recently I pulled my presentation and it lasted 6 rounds at most. Thankfully it was my big toon and she did have a TU unite. Goggles came out next round and she managed to make it until help came from the other side. I know ubers know this and understand this risk because they have to be pretty good players to get an uber to any level but I don't want more inexperienced players to think that pulling presentation will always give you a ton of time. They still could come unlured on you given the time.

I'm shocked that Presentation didn't give you more than 6!
Someone used their Presentation in the skeles of last night's uber VP and it lasted until we knocked off the last cog!

I was equally shocked with that one too. I had pulled it up to help keep the black kitty Heartbreaker with us a little longer. Gags were missing and he/she did not have TU so I felt the presentation would be our best bet. Unfortunately we didn't put enough on one of the cogs to kill it and the black kitty had bad luck, ending up green in the playground. I ran down the timer with the presentation luring new cogs as they came out and killing the ones I could but the presentation came undone really early. I remember saying to a shocked Heather on Miss Bananaswirl that the sound of cogs attacking was the sound of my presentation coming undone. Fortunately they were almost done by then.
I do believe it lasts longer, I think I have seen it last much longer, I think I just got unlucky that day and feel fortunate that the few unites Lady Melody had on her included a few TU maxes.
I wonder, how many rounds do you think it took you to get all the skells knocked off in last nights VP? I don't imagine it was less than 6 rounds?
