My son found POC and so did I.... the free stuff right now and we played a little on Sunday.
Laggy... hung up a couple of times and had to restart... or the best one is getting hung up in a fight and dying quickly.
Seems that they put alot of effort in the making of the character... can you really tell that a chin is sticking out or the nose goes to the left?.... should of used that time else where in the game.
Buggy too - I was swimming is some brown area (like the gray) and was able to go under and thru my boat. See people running around in the air.... boats going thru other boats...
I used the name Varmint so you may see me running around. Not sure how long I will play it. Only one PC will run it at the house. All 3 run TT One gets a an error in the EXE (laptop).
OK- Question time:
On Tortuga - is the Thieves Den the only cave to find a EITC Soldier? Was in there and killed a couple of soldiers before a LV10 showed up and killed me (Lvl6) and another Lvl6 plus a Lvl3....but never found the hanky (hankerchief). Tried taking out a couple of EITC ships too but that didn't seem to help. Any suggestions? Thanks.

There are EITC soldiers in Fort Charles at the top of the hill in Port Royal. About 3 of them. They are usually high lvl tho, (lvl 14 - 30) so you would need a team of pirates to help you out.
A lot of those bugs you described sound like graphic issues. I know you might not want to hear (or read) this but.............have you updated your graphics drivers?

Do you have a big strong Pirate to help me
OK - so I'm at the right cave then on Tortuga?!?!?
I forgot the other bug.... I was playing blackjack and winning but I never got the winnings. I kept loosing the 2 coins every turn and never got any back. Thought maybe when I leave the table it would show it like returning to port to see what the cargo was but that didn't happen... I didnt spend more than 12 coins
It's always the drivers! The canned response didn't mention drivers ....it only said they would look into it.
Anyone have a clue as to how far you can get until they make you pay?

I was able to download the test version fairly easily and my pirate was still there. I haven't tried to play it yet. I'm not sure about your questions as when I do play Nanner likes to kill me in ship battles. Guess it's payback! I will look for Varmint running around and mine is Dirty Prudentilla she is barefoot.
So since you are playing the trial are we in the same place or is it like TT where the test is totally separate?

I'm only on test Varmint. I have a lvl 20 char, so I could help you out....IF you were on test.
Yeah you are in the right cave for the EITC soldiers.
The trial version or what they call the Limited Account allows you to go to lvl 8 notoriety and only be able to use the smallest ship (the sloop). No doll, no knife, no grenades, no staff. Don't know if you get to use the gun.
MST, yeah, test and open servers are just like TT.

Darn if you had voodo I could give you a great hint/tip!
I'll give it out anyway for those of you who have it. Great way to work your doll! Go to the fort and on the scaffling (did I even come close to speeling that right)? Anyway by the noose up there is always a grunt (EITC guy) Go up there and attune him. Run to the other side of the hole where the uunmmm soon to be dead guy would fall if he happened to be hanging from said noose. The gruntice will chase you....fall in the hole but you will still be attuned and hitting him all the while safe and sound standing a floor above him.
I leveled up twice doing this and it didn't take much time at all.
BTW Varmint. Look for (surprise) Nanner on open server. Dressed pure in a white little top and tight grey/black pants (somebody actually came up to me and told me to put some clothes on )! Be more than happy to help! Just turned 14 today on open.

Nanner, did you know if you run up to the Grunt of that scaffolding he won't hit you? Only when he comes off the scaffolding to run after you, does he hit you. I realized this last night. And tested it when he ran after me on the ground, then I went back up there on the scaffolding and he stopped hitting me. Just stood up in front of me like a stooge.
Leveled up my sword and knife that way.
I'm sure it's a small bug. But took advantage of it.

Hmmm....lvl 14 in 5 days? How much have you played Nanner? I haven't really played that much and I'm at lvl 7 and so is my son ...we have to share PC time so not alot of time has been put into it yet. He is loving it... he has been crewing on a bigger ship with an all girl crew
Funnymush - Is the lvl20 your only Pirate? How high can you go on a paid account? How much time to you think it takes to get to lvl20? Is that like a Dreamland toon
Venus Fly Traps - Is Cuba the only place to get them (near Tia Maria)? We are both stuck on this one...they were lvl18. They hit big!
Note to my Toons & Friends: I haven't missed a run due to POC. not yet.....

Note to my Toons & Friends: I have missed many runs and DA offices due to POC. Oooops. I try to balance the two but with POC being new I've been there more. I'm sure I'll be back to switching evenly soon when POC gets a little old.
Actually it gets easier to level up the higher you go as some dumb running around tasks can be worth more than 100 or you have to go get something off a ship and it's worth like 500. Plus I play with 2 or 3 other people in the evenings so that helps too.
Don't feel bad about the Fly Trap. I needed one yesterday and I had to try 3 times before I finally got it. Helps to find a busy ocean and hope others are there helping! One plus is if you rush back it still is down where you left it so it's half dead already. There probably are other places too (???) but I can only remember seeing them in Cuba. Did you try going in both ways? They are all the way through that short path and sometimes you can find one a bit smaller but not much smaller.
HA! The other day I sailed to an island far away just to check it out and soon realized I had NO business being there! Nothing walking/crawling/flying around was under a lvl 32 that I saw! YIKES!
Nice tip FOOT! I'll have to try that as my sword needs work and I just got to level 2 on my knife (not my fav weapon so haven't been working it) I like the gun as you can stand way back and get things done....not with Navy of course but the other stuff. Grab those bugs while you can!
Which brings me to one of Disney's weird ideas. You can't shoot "people" but you can slash them? Is this their way of being PC???

LOL you "quack" me up!!
I got on pirates yesterday for the first time (free version). I had fun making my pirate--very svelt red-head with a swarthy hat and knee high boots. She looks just like me (ha ha ha ha ha) Her name is Elizabeth O'Malley and I have no idea what I'm doing, but I got to level 2, and got my ship (named it the Red Fox). The game kept locking up on me (about 3 times) and then I gave up (I must need to update my drivers). I think the music playing is awesome--especially when you start sailing (I felt like I was in the movie). Maybe I'll have better luck today with the program not locking up.

| Varmint : | Funnymush - Is the lvl20 your only Pirate? How high can you go on a paid account? How much time to you think it takes to get to lvl20? Is that like a Dreamland toon | Yup, my 1 and only pirate. With a little bit of time each day and with some friends, you could make lvl 20 in about 2 weeks. Doing the quests really brings your notoriety lvl up quickly.
Level 40 is currently the notoriety cap while level 25 is currently the cap for all weapons. So assign those skill points carefully.
I'm sure they will raise the caps over time.
| Varmint : | Venus Fly Traps - Is Cuba the only place to get them (near Tia Maria)? We are both stuck on this one...they were lvl18. They hit big! | Yeah, only there from what I recall. There are 2 entrances to the swamp in Cuba. Of course the entrance to the right to get to Tia Maria. The other entrance to the left of said entrance.
All the swamps, caves, jungles, go in a circle and end up back at the same location. So if you enter thru the entrance to get to Tia Maria, and contiue thu the swamp (if you make it alive past all the bats and gaters) you end up at the 2nd entrance back in the open swamp.
Did that sound confusing? lol

A new release was put out yesterday and it mentions Lag.... wow... must be a first since I never saw that on TT. The new release "fixed" the laptop so 2 of us could play together. Bad combo.... new game; game with guns and swords; both can play together; both at lvl7 and same quests. Time went by quick and we got to Lvl9. I was 15 mins late for the CFO... sorry! Made it to the uber run but I didn't make a whole run...oh well (and another story).
I was able to play blackjack and keep my earnings / winnings. Different location and chair...hmmm.
We made it to level 9 and it appears we are still working to level 10 but now all of the quests we can find are for paying members only. Son made a comment about being Uber Pirates... as we worked the pistol and cutlass. So far he has made it to level 5 pistol and level 3 cutlass and I'm at level 4 for each. His name is GunShot and he wanted that double barrel bad!
Working "gags" and possible "bugs" to exploit.... the bad guys (cogs) lock on the first person to strike them. Even after a pirate dies we could still hurt them and they ignored us for a good while and it wasn't until another spawned 'cog' started to attack us did they other finally attack us. With the 'cogs' attacking only one pirate we found that going to Rumrunner island and working 'gags' to be easy. Found a spot where lvl8 or 9 crabs would appear over and over (one by the water and the other by the grass). As soon as one appeared we would attack it and defeat it then turn around to attack the other.... but the person with full health would attack first. During the fight the priate who was hurt would regain health as the crabs only attacked the original Pirate. We kept taking turns attacking first so the other could heal and really never got into any danger and got some good drops (items). The 'cogs' really should attack others... a high level pirate could attack first everytime and the small ones could swarm the 'cog' and never get hurt. We helped take out some lvl 13 and 14 gators that way....and the lvl16 Venus Fly Trap. How does WoW handle that?
Items? We got some dropped items ...gold nuggets / silver coins / necklaces / etc....during battles and ship raids. Do you need them for other quests? Can you sell them? Can you hold multiples of each? Some of them are locked out for us but most are available to us. Haven't found a shop that wanted them.
Can only one ship board a ship at one time? This seems to be case from what I can see so how do Guilds raid ships and/or what determines one ship can board and the other attacking ships can't? I know that all of the ships in the battle share the loot but only specific ones can board.
Thanks,
Varmint Sail Lv5 Cannon lv3 Pistol & Cutlass lv4

We have no clue what the items we collect are used for. Hoping we might be able to trade them later or exchange it for some gold or required in some quest? Dunno.
In regards to the ships, I think the ship that gave the most damage will be able to board it. And only 1 ship can board a flag ship.

| Varmint : | New release out today xxxx.20.... laptop no longer works. |
The lag was back too... me thinks they rolled back the release since I saw alot of people complaining in game & on boards about the graphics in release xxxx.19 We had a great time when 2 PCs worked.
Hit level 6 in Sailing last night and leveled up Pistol & Cutlass to level 5. I wonder when they will stop my pirate from growing.
One of the hints mentions SF codes and a 48 hour time frame....but there is open chat. Couldn't find a SF code screen anywhere.....Go figure.
Another hint states: The basic (free) account holders lose 40% of their "points / experience" each battle. I see 2 numbers after a kill: a + and a - appear each time.
I thought I saw someone from TTF on there...but wasn't sure I remembered the name correctly. Speak up if you see me.

Hmmm I didn't play yesterday but I did play the night before. I really am not having much lag problem.
They have been talking about the SF code thingy since early in beta and we wondered the same thing. Maybe it's an XD thingy? They do block the oddest things. I was typing (for a reason ) "but a diamond is forever" to someone in guild chat and it was blocked????? Other very odd things. Pretty much any word with "MO" in it can't be used in guild chat but can just yacking to anyone. Go figure? Maybe one of the Dev's has an Ex named Mo???
BTW if you saw me (or I saw you) we'd know it. Varmint and Nanner.....tough ones to remember (just don't tell me to put clothes on)!
HEY! You passed me in sailing! (but I'm ahead in the others) I'm only a 5! (but I prefer to ride along vs sail myself)

I don't think I played last night--but I've slept since then, so I could have and just forgot. I'm having a lot of "senior" moments lately due to lack of sleep.
If I see you on the game, I'll be sure and say hi!

Nanner dearest, try using SpeedChat Plus instead. It highlights the words that are not in their dictionary or filters, so you can change it before you send it. To use Speedchat Plus (or what I call dictionary mode), right beside the speed chat skull button in the chat window, there is an arrow button. Press it and it changes to a + sign. Then type away.
