Just to see how TT looks when using OpenGL I ran the "configrc -ogl" in a dos window, restarted the computer and ran TT. Good gracious!! The thing looked like I was running in 16 bit color resolution. And it was terribly slow.
Thought maybe I could upgrade my opengl drivers to use the latest, but it doesn't seem you can update opengl drivers on windows. I think XP comes with version 1.1 or 1.2 while opengl is at 2.0. Guess would have to wait till next Windows OS to use the latest opengl drivers.
I have known OpenGL to be great on linux systems, because I play a few games on linux using OpenGL. The graphics are great. Most, if not all games I have played on Windows, use DirectX.
This thread has been a source of good info. Sir Monty, you know your stuff. Good job.

OpenGL .DLL's are shipped with the graphics card drivers direct from the card manufacturers (in most cases). The OpenGL 1.1 or 1.2 drivers that ship with Windows 2K and above are for software rendering only. And no, the current graphics engine for TT is set to use DirectX 8.0, not 9.0, but provides better support for OpenGL natively in the engine. Even if it may look crappy, it generally tends to be more stable than running it through the DirectX pipeline.
Thanks!

The error message I receive after trying to install the drivers:
The NVidia Setup program would not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware.
UGH!
I have a NVidia GeForce FX Go5600 and I can't find any updates for that on the site. I guess it's time to get in touch with HP or NVidia...

For some reason I thought you had a 5700 like Jacee Lee. If you contact HP they will tell you to check NVidia. HP's laptops are setup to use "generic" manufacturer drivers for any non-proprietary hardware.
Also, what version of Windows are you using (2K, XP Home/Pro/MCE)? It'll give me a better chance of finding drivers that'll play nice with your system.

Actually, HP did have a contract with NVidia to use their drivers in their laptops. Since the laptop I'm using is a couple years old, I'm not sure if it's still in effect. As for OS, I use XP Pro. I have searched MS' site as well as NVidia's and have come up with nil. The laptop works great, until I play TT. Then it's taking a big risk on getting the blue screen. Any suggestions, tips, etc. would be extremely helpful! Thanks so much!!

Ive got a new one.
I built my daughter a PC for christmas and I cannot get it to connect to the toontown server. I can download and install toontown, however, when it gets to the login part, it sits there for a while with the grey screen with Mickey's hand, and then gives the message that it cannot connect to the toontown server.
I have tried it with the firewall active and disabled. I have disabled the anti-virus and tried. This computer is on the same wireless network that I use to connect all my other computers to toontown (two other desktops and three laptops - no problems with them). I have had up to 4 connected at the same time and even tried connecting the new computer while no other computer was connected to toontown.
Any Ideas?
