I know I've been here for a bit, and I should know the answer to this question. But I do not. And since I don't mind asking for directions when I'm lost, I'm going to throw this question out there for the experts.
I have noticed that some of you have animated Avatars. How do you get your animated avatars to work? I've tried downloading animated material to the pc, but that doesn't work out. Any ideas?
Thanks again, everyone!

I only can get it to work if I upload it to photobucket or imageshack, then from there you can pick the appropriate url to update your avatar
There was no special trick when I had an animated avatar

I got my animated avatars from iconator.com They have a selection of animated and non-animated. I just put it on my computer (follow web page instructions) and loaded in the toonfile as usual. Hope this helps.

Hmmm.. you are not changing the file type are you? Animations must be saved in .gif format. I'm sure you already know this but, all you need to to do is right click on the animation, choose save picture as, then navigate to where you want to save the image. You can change the file name but do not change the file type. There is no reason for an animation not to animate as long as it IS saved as a gif.

Well your avatar is one of my favorites too Princess Boo Boo.... It makes me laugh because for the longst time my 9yo son couldn't for the life of him think of what he wanted for xmas
However, now his list includes a laptop, a dirt bike, skis, you know inexpensive stuff like that And my 2 1/2 yo only requests stickers! lol

Mine was put together as a multi-frame .gif. I found a free download by searching google hits and followed the directions. It allowed me to put together still frames and set the timing between the flips and format size. It saved to a single animated file that was easily added to the TTF file. Unfortunately, i have forgotten the location address, and out machine hard drive melted down some time ago. I no longer have the installer for the program. If you can't find one you like at one of the Pre-made on-line locations, you might try this. If it works out, you may wind up with a One-of-a kind avatar. I hope this is more help than frustration. Blessins...

The background is part of an image I did last Christmas and I added my toon, shadows, and then the snow. As far as my sig, its wrong, lol and I'm trying to redo it. Just keep getting sidetracked.
Thanks!

Thanks for sharing. I went to a site that had animated GIFs and I saved as the file name. Careful not to change the extension type. When I go to open it, it is no longer animated. The weird thing is that when I saves it, it shows it saving as " .GIF (Document)". And there is no other .GIF options. I'm running xp pro. Does that make a difference?

For this sake, correct me if I'm wrong, you want to take an animated pic that you see on the net and use it as your avie? In that instance, I right click it, save picture as and put the picture either online or upload it, depending on the website I'm using the avie on. That being said - many sites have limits to what the picture can be, in size (say 100 X 100) or size (45k for instance).
If you are trying to make your own image - no clue there in how to do that
