An OUTRAGEOUS thing

So at ma school there is some mean lunch monitor. I mean with over 100 kids in a lunchroom its gonna get noisy!! Sorry 4 leaving you out. OK, so at my school there is this mean cafateria monitor. She always complains about the noise. Her solution is take away 20 minutes(out of 25minutes)of our recess!! For a few people that yell(which does not include me Rolling Eyes ) she says we yell and you dont need to yell and BLAH BLAH BLAH!!! And she also is in charge of making sure everyone gets picked up with the people that arent like stalkers. And she monitors the people going to their buses from her little spot. So as people stand around to get picked up, they sometimes stray towards where people come to go on the buses. I mean the people going on the buses have got all the room that they could possibly need but no she insists on cramming us together so no one trips. My Science teacher is the only adult that seems to realize that the taking away recess thing just because of a few people that honestly does not include me gets too noisy, all the students get in trouble. I mean, there is over 100 kids. It will be noisy. Sory for taking up space on the site. I just had to get that out of me!

Well, although I don't agree with taking away your "recess" time, because I am a firm believer that you all need some down time too...maybe she feels that if she punishes the whole group eventually the ones that don't yell will have a more positive influence on those that do?!? Sometimes rules don't seem to make sense to us, but we need to follow them anyway, its not exactly the "rule" but the learning of authority...you'll understand when you are a parent.

Sorry that school (especially lunchtime when you are supposed to be able to let your hair down so to speak) is such a bummer for you...maybe someone to could talk to a teacher or something and explain to this lunch lady/moniter of your plight and be an advocate for your cause. Just make sure that if and when you take it to another person that you do so with a respectful attitude (it will get you much farther than if you don't).

Also, if this doesn't happen all the time then maybe you have to consider that she had a bad day too?!? It happens.

Hope things work out for you all.

I think kids should be allowed to talk but it gets out of hand VERY easily. I don't personally support missing recess because you need to let that energy out, but we aren't allowed to make them pick up trash or anything that would make sense...so with no punishment they are even worse. It's not too much to ask them to exercise some self-control for a few minutes in my opinion.

If she's really that bad you could get your parents to complain to the principal. If she's really going overboard he should do something about it. Our old principal was a lot stricter than this one is; they weren't allowed to talk AT ALL...but as I said letting them talk gets so out of control so fast! There's a big difference between conversation with your neighbors and chaos! Since we're not in your cafeteria we don't know which one yours is.

On the other hand, I can understand how you feel. I have just started monitoring at our school and I am a lot more easygoing than the other lady because I can't stand to keep them from recess (even though they can choose to talk quietly instead of being wild, so it's really not ME making them miss recess, now is it).

Thats unfortunate and unfair. Kids shouldn't have recess taken away for being noisy in the lunch room. Recess is important during elementary school; it gives the kids a chance to get active. If you put 100 kids into a room, it's most likely going to get talkative and noisy. Stupid lunch monitor! Mad

I think some of these teachers and school admin need a Time Out! Some are so burned out and some have no patients and really have no business working in a school or to be around children.
So TEACHERS LEAVE THEM KIDS ALONE Exclamation

Your too young to remember but Pink Floyd was a rock band who had a song/album called The Wall and one of the songs had the phrase, "Hey! TEACHERS LEAVE THEM KIDS ALONE!!"

I love that song! I tried naming my new monkey toon Pink F. Llloyd and it was refused, heehee.
I wonder how that issue with the lunchroom was resolved?!
