In CFO last night we were discussing how many toons don't seem to know the math when it comes to gag use. MST suggested we make a math thread and I promised to look for the old one!
Here is a table that Lady Googlebrains made long ago. She was our resident math whiz who later left TT .
http://www.toontownfriends.com/images/gagtable.pdf
If anyone can think of / make an easier way to display this, please do. Also would love to hear some discussion on this subject.
Note the cogs' health points are also given on this chart. The gags listed are the MINIMUM needed to take out the cog. No reason not to use more if you're working gags of course, but there's a lot to be said for saving fogs or other powerful gags when you don't need to use them!
Now, while I sit back with my coffee, discuss.

Well, it was somone else who also brought it up so I have to give that person credit too. I'll let that person decide if they want their name brought up. Seems especially with sounding that we seem to waste gags alot. Not that it's a big deal, but it does make it faster and smoother to get it right. Of course, there are times everyone clicks fog at the same time and obviously there is nothing to do about that. Just sometimes we end up using three or four fogs to take out level nine or tens. I think it's also helpful especially in doing the VP sided with an uber. It is more important to pay attention and do math in those situations.
Wow that's an impressive chart and I hadn't seen it before. Not sure how to make something any better than that. She did a great job!
Only thing might be how to add combos. For instance if there is one big cog (11 or 12) and the others say five or six and three elephants are used, then is a piano necessary to kill the big one or will a safe work. I usually use a piano just to be sure, but it would be nice to know if a safe would be enough. Or if some can't drop is a cream pie good enough or is a storm cloud needed?
Is that clear? I guess I mean when gags are mixed and everyone is not using throw. That might be hard to do though.

I love this table, and kept it with me whenever playing when I was still new. You do have to be aware that this is for gags that are maxed, so if you are not maxed keep that in mind when choosing. It does not have level seven gags, and doesn't count for organic gags. LadyG left before those came out on tt, but she taught me so much my first few months of playing.

Very cool chart.
Here's a question/scenario: I have maxed my throw gags, but it is not organic. If I had used up my wedding cake on a previous fight but not gotten a new one, will the birthday cake still have the effect of a maxed gag?
Thanks for your help.

Lady Snappy. Your birthday cake will (non organic) will do 100 hit points of damage to the cog with, or without, your wedding cake.
Thank you LadyZ for posting this. Before I knew this site existed, I memorized what it took to kill cogs. At the time I didn't know hit points or anything.

That is a really nice chart. I'm going on three years of playing without doing math and I don't want to change my wicked ways. I hope other people use it, though.

I love this chart! I printed it out back when she first made it and have it my TT bible. I don't use it too often anymore. There so much more to it now with the organics & level 7s. I've been thinking about putting together a lil' gag damage calculator including all these things and SOS, etc . . . just been too busy playing and working on another lil' project . Maybe I'll put the other project on hold and spend some time on it this weekend, or maybe I'll just play and let ya'll do your own math . . .
BTW,
Elephant + seltzer + cloud (my organic one) + hose will NOT take out an unlured level 12 cog, even if they are all organic . . . which is why my poor lil' horsie turned green just a few seconds into VP last night

Oh wow, that's one big chart! It's very helpful, but I think it would take me too long to try and find the spot on the chart of what gags to use while in a battle. I guess we all better memorize it!
