Introduction...& Question
View Single PostView Single Post

Hi Everyone,

I have been play TT for about 2 weeks now. It's so addictive, I even had a dream last night with TT animation! So am I crazy? Confused In the 2 weeks that I have played, I started 2 toons. Lady Penny and Cool Dottie Gigglehoffer. I have taken different gag tracks for both and I must say, I am really frustrated with Lure. Any hints or tips to help me get this gag going? Drop is pretty frustrating too but seems to hit a bit more often.

I have also gotten 3 of my 4 children on and they started their own accounts. 2 adult kids one 16 year old. The 9 year old hasn't shown an interest, yet but loves to watch the drop gags fall and the dancing. Laughing

Does anyone have issues where TT kicks you off line alot? Are there peak times where this could happen? My TT seems to run sluggish at night so I wondered if that was me or TT.

I am looking forward to reading everyone's posts! This is going to be FUN!

Hi there! Nice to meet you.

For me, lure is easy to train if I lure really low cogs (might want to train in TTC), or if I lure with another toon who is using a higher lure. Once you get past the $5 bill, lure starts working a lot better. You will like lure a lot more once it starts hitting more often.

As far as getting kicked off a lot, I have had that at times and usually it is my internet that is doing it. I have to reset my modem and the router and it usually works better. There have been times when it was TT and then there is really nothing you can do. I've been reading about a lot of problems in TT lately.

HI and welcome! Ignore my avatar....I've been forced Laughing

If you have a friend working trap sometimes that helps with lure but like Little Wacky said it does miss a lot when you have the lower gags. You'll get there! Very Happy Same with drop. Funny thing is once you have lure maxed your barbie magnet (the red one) will work almost as well as your higher level goggles! (granted for a shorter amount of time....)

Enjoy the game and yes! It is addictive!

I like lure, I haven't made any lureless toons yet. Lure is almost as much of a pain to work as trap/drop. If you have a level 1 lure, only try it on level 1 cogs. If you have level 2 lure, don't try it on anything higher than a level 2 or 3 cog, etc. It'll work on higher level cogs, but much less often. Sellbots and bossbots lure more readily than do cashbots or lawbots. If you at least have level 2 lure, try going into 2-3 story sellbot buildings loaded up with lure and baby gags (plus a few of your biggest gags for emergencies). Try to lure every single cog in there (which is easier if you have someone else along to heal, but if it's a little bldg., you can survive without a "doctor" along), get on the highest floor and lure/wake up/lure/wake up/lure/wake up. If you use baby gags to "wake" the cog up, it won't kill him, giving you another chance to lure. You can keep this up for a really long time in a 3-4 story, especially if there's a doctor along helping.

Once you get up to the blue magnet for lure, you'll be delighted to have it! In the meantime, you have to work, work, work it! My theory of lure is to work it on any cogs one to two levels higher than the lure. So, level 1 lure on level 3 or lower cogs, etc. I think it really, really helps to have a friend working trap!

Nice to see you here. When you get your sellbot suit, you guys will have to join us for the VP runs!!

Just a tip about having a higher level toon help with lure. Bills only help bills and magnets only help magnets. So if your friend uses say a blue magnet it won't help your $5 bill hit any better.

Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

You can bend but never break me
'cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
'cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul (that that the horse is RED) Razz

WOW, Thank you all for the friendly greetings and advise! Tonight I played, finished Minnie's Melodyland and moved on to Brrrgh! I did several buildings tonight and LURE WORKED WONDERFULLY!! I was so excited. I have 400 of 800 on the lure gag so maybe by next week I will have the next level.

I was in a 3 story building and was in the elevator on my way to the 3rd floor. I got kicked off! I wondered, do people understand that this happens? Cause one of the toons I was with whispered that I stink and I was like OMG I didn't mean it! Then I thought, this person was probably a kid and very immature. OR an adult and very immature! Very Happy Any way, I felt bad.

How long have you all been playing TT? I can't believe it has been here for years and I never knew about it. I am a Disney freak! I should have been here since the beginning! Laughing

I can't wait to participate more here. Over the weekend I plan on reading more posts and learning all I can. Thanks for all your help!!

Hi, Penny! Welcome to TTF!
I like to look for different districts when I'm working on a gag. There is a cog invasion going on almost all the time somewhere, which makes getting the next level gag twice as fast. NEWWELCOME

trampoline Welcome to TTF! trampoline

The lure was always so painful to max out for me. I have a way that works for me though with doing the lure fast. So, first try to get in a district that has a lot of invasions. Nutty River and Nutty Summit would probably be the ones to do it. I have an Uber (small laff, maxed gags) in training that is training in Toon-up and lure right now. What helps me is that I find any cog on the street that I'm capable of fighting at my laff point level and lure gag level, and I stick to that cog. First, just lure the cog; hopefully it will hit. Then, use a lower damage gag at the cog that won't destroy it off right then, but don't wait for the cog to wake up. Keep on doing the same thing until the cog is destoyed. By the end, you should have a lot of gag points for that lure gag especially when there are cog invasions to double the points. Wink Like others have said, you could also try to find a toon with higher level lures who can help you on with that lure. Very Happy Good luck!

Well, let's see.... In answer to your question, I've been playing for about three years. My highest toon is a 117 laff dog. Then I have a 35 laff rabbit. I know, I am very slow! Laughing I don't play a lot of the time, or I just goof off in the game. Laughing Once again, WELCOME! Very Happy

You need to wake the cog up to get the lure points.... Sound will wake him up and you will get the points when using sound but you did bring up a good point about not letting the cogs wake up on their own.

My favorite way to work 3 gags:
First Lure then Sound
Repeat Lure, TU, Sound until cogs are dead.

Sound just don't get the knock-back bonus.

When I'm battling in buildings and I know that the cog is going to be killed, instead of throwing another pie or squirt gun on the pile I will lure...sometimes it hits and sometimes it doesn't. Throw and squirt are too easy to max so I try NOT to use them if I have other gags that can be used...

Thank you for correcting me Varmint. I don't know what I was thinking last night! I looked at this post earlier this morning and just how I missed that, I don't know. Thanks for correcting me! I corrected my earlier post. Very Happy

So if I lure 3 cogs, kill one off and the other 2 wake up on their own, I still get the points, right? Confused

If you let the cogs wake up on their own after having been lured, then when you lure them again, you won't get experience on that subsequent lure. You'll still get experience for everything else (assuming you use the right level gag, etc.). So you want to wake the dude up, rather than letting him wake on his own. Personally, I love bike horns for this. They do hardly any damage and you can lure again and again. But you can't get away with it if you have random toons in there with you--they think you're nuts when you pull out a bike horn! Smile

Penny!! So glad you joined us here!

Look what I started!! hehe You said only TWO of the kids started playing!
I'm glad the lure is working better. I didn't know that you had to wake up cogs to get the lure bonus! I guess I did get lucky when I worked lure, I did the lure/sound over and over.

If you have your Sellbot suit done, come join us for VP runs, MWF! Check the Runs thread for times.
