There they were sitting down to their well earned hour of ToonTown when they decided to click on the character they had "forced" me to create when I finally caved and bought them a membership as a reward for good grades and they saw that Sir Toppem Kat had more gags and higher laugh points than either of their Toons. The hooting and chortling lasted for several minutes
There I was having to admit that I had been secretly playing ToonTown a couple hours per day in my office and occasionally at night on the weekends after being a total "Bossbot" telling them that they could only play for a very limited time each day.
My daughter said "don't worry Pappa, there are lot's of grownups who play ToonTown I'll bet" and then I started to think about it and I figured she must be right otherwise some of the more interesting names and some of the rather sophisticated use of canned toon phrases and the occasional barbs of hilarious sarcasm would mean that kids had certainly changed an order of magnitude since I was little.
Well here I am,busted out by my kids for being a Toonoholic and it's not a bad place to be in frankly. The dialog that this has opened up with my kids and the way I get to see how a constantly positive environment that encourages cooperation and teamwork is manifesting itself in my house is really a startling consequence of what I was dreading would be another brain draining distraction for my kids.It has actually changed the way my kids think of the world and how they talk to me.
They regularly divide the world up into Toons and Cogs based on principals of consideration, intentions and what motivates a person and when they see me put on a business suit for a meeting they say "Uh Oh,Pappa is putting on his Cog disguise" and "Good luck in Sellbot HQ" it's hilarious and when people overhear us they think we are speaking in some sort of weird code but honestly in my house we have reduced the world of greedy, unprincipled and mean spirited folks to laughable cartoon badguys with admonitions of "they aren't very Toony are they?" and my kids are dead set against the idea of ever being even the tiniest bit "Coglike" in the future.
This game is more than great fun it's a great influence(even on 30something grownups)
Anyhooo,Hello to all of you Toons...

WELCOME TO TTF!!!!
Oooh, sounds toooooo familiar. My kids kept asking, "Can I try Toontown?!?" Finally I let them, shortly after, they bugged me to make a toon. I did, and realized that I liked it! (Should I say loved it?!?) I knew there had to be adults out there also...too many cool names, and their playing style. I was never so happy to leave the world of speedchat though!! We now have 2 accounts, but at one time we had 3. The kids are onto playing different games, but mom is still playing TT!!

LOL! Funny! I got frustrated and made my kids do some of my TTC tasks for me because they were too hard! Then later, they got upset because I was so much higher than they were.
Welcome to TTF!

Welcome to the group! Glad you found your way here
Yeah - my daughter got mad when the toon she forced me to create passed her up in laff and gags. Funny - I've never invited a friend to 'Let's go to my house!' and jump on the roof. Go figure. I know of Grandmas playing with their grandkids that are in another state. A nice way to spend time together.
And, it is a nice environment. Usually, you see a lot of helping going on. And, a name such as Eleanor Pigsby (one of the favs I've seen) is sure no 10 year old .

What a great story! Toon Dad here. My daughter saw the commercials. We bought it for her as a Birthday gift. I created a toon out of boredom one day. And now we have 2 accounts. And all but 4 are my toons. Hope to see you around.

We started a trial account when my son was sick. By the time I caught the bug and was home alone I decided we NEEDED a real account so I could make my own toon. It took me a while to figure out that you could make your own names - I thought you had to pick from their list . SO we started the Featherknees family and 2 years later we're still playing, though I have cut back on my obsession some.

My teenage grandaugther started it. She kept saying I would love it since I am a game player from way back. (Nintendo for me for Christmas 18 years ago) She convinced her Aunt( My Daughter) to play. Finally I said I would try it and I was hooked immediately. It is great fun to play with my daughter who lives in another state and even more fun when we are visiting and play in the same room talking while we conquer the cogs. Toontownfriends is the greatest sight to meet others too. You have found the right place. Great grandmother -Granny Helen

Welcome to the group!
I got started only 3 weeks ago and I am not sure what I did before Toontown?? My kids were laughing at me and telling me I was playing a kids game. Then they tried it and now they each have their own accounts!
I got into it because a good friend of mine and I were emailing and she told me all about it. Then we got on the phone and she talked me through some of the beginning things. She also told me to come here to TTF. When my kids told me it was a kids game, I said really. I bet a lot of these people are adults! And I come here and you are!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, sounds familiar. Almost three years ago now, my son is telling me about the commercials he had seen for the game. Being newly separated and of course wanting to give my son anything he asked for...*snicker*...I bought him a toontown account and we installed it on the computer at my apartment. At first we just played his toon. (Which is just now doing the last of LOM!!!!!) Then figured out that with two accounts I could be on, and he could be on when he was at his mom's and we could play together and chat. Alas, he only gets on his toon on a rare occasion, as he has moved on and mostly plays Runescape now (which he has managed to get me addicted to as well). I have long been past where his toon is, but now the other shoe is starting to drop. He has reached my level on Runescape and will soon be (if he isn't already) higher than me there. (I rarely get a chance to play runescape anymore, except for the weekends). I know he is excited about passing me there as he talks about it often. I find myself on TT more because of this site, TTF. The interraction between my friends and me is something that I look forward to every night at the nightly runs. Runescape is a lot more challenging, but the sense of community is just not there. Welcome to TTF, a great place to be!!

OH NO!!! Am I supposed to be learning maturity and other positive stuff from this game? Only last night I was about to explode at my monitor, trying desperately to keep my voice down, while that CFO and his horrid red-hatted goons were hunting me down and killing me!!
Welcome to TTF! Conversing with other slightly off-beat adults is half the fun of TT!

Nearly all the parents here have a similar story
In my case, the neighbor, who was in my son's class that year, told him of the game. He played from January to October of '06 and in October '06 I made an account to play with him. He doesn't play anymore, so I've taken over It was fun to play together and every once in awhile we play his toon together. Meanwhile, I've taken three toons past where he is but he thinks it's all cool.
Hope to see you on the nightly runs! If you need help, feel free to send a PM and I can friend you on one of my toons to assist you.

Good grief! Toontown is a childrens game, go pay bills or something . . .
In the meantime, I'll just wait for my girls to get tired of TT again (hopefully they'll at least finish their cash suit this time). Then I'll have 2 more toons I'll have to adopt and take care of. As if 8 (not counting test) isn't enough already.
Welcome to TTF, relax and enjoy your stay
