I have the same name as you! Laughing

Anyway, I used to have Vista. I got rid of it because it made my computer slow and laggy. It was not that bad because I was able to play Toontown when my brother fixed it for me. I thought it was a waste of money. I have helped someone get Toontown running and it worked so I'll do the same for you. Here is a link:

If this doesn't work for you then try this:

I just got a new laptop today (old one kept shutting down on me, waaaaahhh) and of course it has Vista. There are about 20 steps to follow to be able to run TT on Vista. For me, it took a few tries to get it to download (while it showed the video). I had to click the box and on the third try of that, it worked.

Patience was definitely the key here. On the upside, I made sure all my drivers were updated, my firmware is updated and my directx is updated. I did NOT want to hear one of those replies from TT Techies!!

I had the gold release of Vista (rc final) and that was before I started tooning. It was the home edition and with 512mgs of ram it still was a massive resource hog and ran terribly on games.
Lots of lag on any online game.

So I went back to XP.

I don't think 512mg RAM is enough to run Vista. I'd say you want at least a gig. Many games are memory hogs, especially the games like TT (MROPG, something like that). My new machine has 2 gig of ram and WOW - what a complete difference in TT. I do not have the lag of having been online for too long except if 8 hours or more have passed. Much of that time is spent parked, not sure I could sit for 8 hours straight playing Smile

I agree. Although Microsoft says that Vista will run on a machine with an 800 MHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, and a 20 GB hard drive with 15 GB of free space, you would be ripping your hair out at the sluggish performance with this set up. Once you start adding Windows updates, some programs, and try to play a game such as toontown, these minimum specs will send you back to XP or to the store to purchase hardware upgrades or a new computer. To get Vista to run right, your machine should have at least double the minimum specs: a 1.6 GHz processor, a gig of RAM, a 40 GB hard drive and a graphics adapter that doesn't use system memory, but rather has its own RAM with a minimum of 64 mb of video memory.

Yeah, I agree. It does not do so well. I switched back to Windows XP because I didn't have the money to buy more memoery. My mom wouldn't buy for me either. Loopy, I have 512 MB of RAM now. I had Vista Home Basic. It stank! Mad If you put in more memory- (768) The computer does improve. I tried it with some of my brothers RAM. It made a pretty big difference.

I have 2 gigs with my Vista also and so far am loving it. The RAM....not so much the Vista. Was/am thinking of adding back XP but since it was installed on my old laptop I don't have a hard copy (and old laptop is dead) so I'd have to go out and buy it. Really though except for the mess of trying to get on TT at first I've had no problems with it.....sort of.....kind of....maybe I'm just getting use to it? Like Loopy said I have no more lag unless I've been playing forever! (and I do mean Forever)! before it was like an hour or one visit to my estate and reboot time! Do notice that parking toons for a long period of time can cause it.

I had to shut off USER ACCOUNT CONTROL to get my new laptop to run Toontown. This was back in February, so I'm not sure if it's still an issue. I love chatting about computer stuff, so if you have any questions or problems with you PCs, let me know. My e-mail is thomas_5758@yahoo.com and I'll do my best to help.

Also: With regards to racing cheaters and other problems that need to be reported, I recommend e-mailing serious concerns to "community@disneyonline.com".

I started on Toontown just last month on my Vista. All I had to do was download it and pay for it and I was good to go.

Maybe Disney has made changes since this thread started.
