I was thinking about this because I can't quite articulate why I think CFO is fun and the new LAW battle is not. I thought we could do a little discussion on what elements make a battle FUN.
Here are some of my thoughts.
When I think about games I enjoy it is games where you need to plan a few steps ahead, use a little strategy. I also like it if you have to use cooperation and teamwork and have people use a battle plan that takes some skill. I think CFO meets this. Though MTJ did solo to CFO I know I never could. What to me, makes the CFO a really creative and exciting game though is this. A really good 4 player team using great strategy and teamwork can beat 8 unskilled players anyday. There is more skill and creativity involved to me in the final battle than the VP. But the VP still seems more fun ( at least it did initially) than the new LAW battle. It may be I have high expectations and I had high hopes for the battle.
CFO is fun because you do need to learn to use the crane. If even ONE person is thowing them at wrong time we all know how awful that is. You are depending on your defense toons to protect you and that is cool. I liked how, with CFO, what seemed so confusing and hard the first time you went in the more you do it the easier and clearer it is. There is a big learning curve to it. I would never have believed the first time I did it that four toons could easily beat him when they knew the ropes. The skill being more important than the added power of more toons tapping?
That could be what feels so not fun about law. I like that some toons are on defense with cogs but playing defense is not where near as hard or interesting as jumping goons. And throwing evidence??? No comparison to a crane. Other than learning to adjust the height of the throw it doesn't seem there is much to it.
Any other ideas on what makes things fun?

To me CJ is BORING. The only action is throwing the things and going to get more. With the CFO you have to pay attention to what is going on and formulate strategy based on the action of the moment. I just don't see that happening in CJ. And there is not even a good reward to make it worth it!

I find the variety to be fun in CFO. In CJ you tap your insert key (ALOT) and that is about it...no variety there (execept for what you throw at )
In CFO, you stomp goons, jump to avoid cogs flying at you, jump to block cogs flying at craners, you crane and you use quite a bit more team work (watching for your stompers, your fellow craners, etc.) You actually have to use your brain...just a little bit Perhaps, that is why I enjoy the libraries more that the CJ...at least you have the puzzles to entertain you. I submitted this point to tt...not sure that it will help though.

To answer the first question, what makes TT fun? The Tardy, Stinky friends!!
As everyone else said, CFO involves more strategy and thinking. Cooperation and skill are required (just ask anyone who's ever been with me while I try to goon!! ) for CFO.

Ditto! I do love my marbles too!!
I also love stopping to help other toons I don't know. The poor soul standing outside a building looking for help.
