| Rubberboots : | | Dizzy T : | Oh, yes, there is an evildoer in Toontown, and its' name is Chief Justice. And Toontown will never again be the same. |
Isn't this akin to blaming Jack Daniels for (spouse) being an alcoholic? All those people who started acting like jerks when the CJ came out were not doing so because of the CJ; they were doing so because they were jerks in Toons' clothing. Of course: one man's meat...
CJ was just a vehicle by which they could manifest their true natures; he is not a cause. |
Obviously the point of my post was misunderstood. What I meant was that CJ brought out the worst in people, just like alcohol can bring out the worst in people. We all know the game can be addictive. It's how you deal with the Beast that can be a problem.

Adding my two cents yet again, like I don't do that already...
I think it's a cumulation of things, having friends defect to WoW, having others leave due to RL issues, changes overall which affect us as a whole and individually. It's a matter of thinking "We can wallow in our pity" OR "What can we do to make things fun again?" I hate to say it, but those who've gone to the darkside probably won't be back. For those of us choosing not to take the cookies, we need to put our toony head together and make TT enjoyable again. Just because someone you've played with quite often is no longer available doesn't mean there aren't others out there. We have our TTF runs, we have other things we do to put some zest and fun back into the game. What else can we do to revamp and spread tardiness to everyone?? I personally play TT because of the people, the intricate friendships I've developed with people. Yes, some have changed sides, so to speak, but there are others out there...
So, start a new thread... make suggestions as to what you'd like to see TTF do and what you would like to make this a pah-tay again!!

No, I do not believe your point was misunderstood at all. Misstated perhaps, but the post was not misunderstood:
| Dizzy T : | | Oh, yes, there is an evildoer in Toontown, and its' name is Chief Justice. |
| Dizzy T : | | This Cog HQ somehow turned the toons themselves into cogs |
| Dizzy T : | | The thick, cold walls of this corrupt asylum turned toons into ogres |
| Dizzy T : | | I watched once kind and caring toons turn into these ... these ... savages that would ditch toons at the count of 0 for such insignificant handicaps such as being soundless |
| Dizzy T : | | Toons that I considered helpful were all of a sudden trolls themselves |
| Dizzy T : | | Perhaps if the reward for defeating the Chief Justice had been sweeter, such fine toons would not have fallen to the dark side |
As you can see, on 6(!) separate occasions you did not imply anything; you stated that these "kind and caring toons" had been changed by their surroundings. I'm telling you that they have not changed whatsoever in any way, shape or form: They are the same as they've always been! They just chose to drop the facade in favor of their own selfish pursuits. I'm sorry to tell you that if they behaved like and appeared to be selfish savages...what do they say if it waddles like a duck and quacks like a duck?
Perhaps thats not what you meant to say, but it is what you said...so perhaps it's what you meant. I'm sorry that you were wrong about your "friends". Been there; done that. But from the ashes... hey, where is Z anyway? One week my fanny!!

I'm back from vacation, time to start the par-tay.
I have to admit I am a bit disappointed to only find 794 new messages in 10 days. Sheesh! Y'all are slipping.
I'll read them in the morning, while drinking my yummy Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee.

All valid points IMO...but I don't think Law HQ brought out the worst in people any more than CFO did (I was not around for the opening of VP). Anyone who was not around for the opening of CFO would probably never believe it now - as bad as it ever is in the busy district now, multiply that by a LOT and add the fact that your so-called friends were acting that way back then...oof!! All those things Dizzy T said about Law happened with CFO to the same extent - maybe WORSE because the rewards were so coveted. One of the best things TT did with CFO was make it so you can't tell the reward till you dance, so at least you won't get shoppers in there ditching you as they do in VP.
Maybe it was worse with CJ because the rewards are so poor and that makes people even more tense....I know of otherwise wonderful, easygoing people who have gone ballistic over one bad CJ...I wouldn't say the CJ had changed them but it certainly did seem to bring out the worst in them at the moment. I think we all have that potential and it comes out if we allow it to, not because a certain thing BRINGS it out....we just all have our breaking point for that sort of thing IMO.
At least with gardening you can't hurt your friends doing it. Although I'm sure if there IS a way someone will find it.
Personally I am torn on CJ. I have no interest in gaining the extra laff and I don't find CJ fun in the least - it was not so bad the one open run I did with friends, but do I really want to spend my leisure time on something that is "not so bad"? I am also put off by the high JN requirements and the difficulty in getting them in the busy district. I would be willing to give it more of a chance - I didn't like CFO at first either - but this is one thing I will only do with friends because that is the only way I would get even a tiny bit of fun out of it as far as I can tell.

That one is getting as old as my, “I have 5 kids” excuse. Betsy you succumbed to your inner trollness and all your wands of sheep transmogrification and gauntlets of ogre power won’t help you frame this innocent and docile little monkey.
Now return to the tooniverse before you are lost forever. I have jellybeans and flowers.
|
Hey monkey innocent and docile have never been a part of your character traits. And if they were, well umm TT would be boring. Another thing, you already know this...I don't want jellybeans and flowers, I want candy lol.

You have a habit of assembling words into sentences and then denying the meaning said sentences convey. Discussions with like individuals are invariably fruitless and lead never to anything good.

One thing I do know is that with our Events Planning Queen seemingly on hiatus (yikes!), we don't do some of the fun runs we used to do. Girls Night Out - Boys Night Out - those kind of things. I have to say I'm more of a follower than a leader. I always know that these were always fun activities that made TT a friendlier, sillier place to be!

Well, I don't think guys against the girls is fun anymore. If you ladies were as smart as you always tell us, you would have let us win once just so we would keep coming back. You know a little cat and mouse!
Aah, lightbulb!
Lets organize a battle of the species. Instead of guys against the girls, we can do Cats against Mice, Dogs against Cats, Lesser species against Monkeys. Wouldn't that be fun?

Ducks against monkeys sounds great, Jacob! Horses against whoever; the rest are all inferior and stand little to no chance

Ducks have whipped many a monkeys behind easily so it's obvious which species he was referring too Ducks can defeat the winners of course so bring it on

Most of the people I routinely play with do not have monkeys. That aspect is intriguing inasmuch as I'd have to meet new people and adapt new playing styles. This could be fun.

I love that how bout this:
Dogs vs. Rabbits
Cats vs. Mice
Ducks vs. Monkeys
Horses vs. Bears
I think that's all eight. Then the winners go into a bracket?
