OK, so I finally downloaded this today. I know, I know, it's ancient by now but I've been so busy I kept forgetting to download it myself and the automatic update just showed up the other day. Today was the first chance I had to run Auto Update.
~ ~ ANYWAY ~ ~
So far I really like it. I love the tabs (knew I would) and that cool tab that shows a thumbnail of every page you have open just rocks! Still trying to get used to the layout of the buttons and such (ie. refresh), but I think that will be ok. Here is my problem. I have pretty good eyesight, probably really good for my age. I can still see tiny letters and numbers just fine. When I first loaded IE 7.0 I remember checking some kind of feature that was supposed to help "clear up" the letters and make them easier to read. OMG! They are fuzzier than ever! The freaking smart letters are killing my eyes and giving me a headache! I've looked for them, but since I can't remember the name of these stupid things, I can't search in the help files, nor have I been able to locate the feature in any of the various settings. The colors seem clearer, but the LETTERS! Help me find where to turn this feature off!

Never fear Dizzy T my dear, the Prince is here to your rescue. (I forgot my shining armor and my trusty steed at work. Just have my shorts and t-shirt. Hope you don't mind.)
The option you are looking for is called ClearType. You will find this option in Internet Explorer:
Tools --> Internet Options --> Advanced Tab -->Multimedia Section
Uncheck the option Always use Clear Type for HTML to turn it Off.
Click Ok. Close your Internet Browser and reopen it again. See if it looks better.
Or instead of turning it off, you can fine tune ClearType if you want to keep using it. Let me copy and paste the Help info associated with this option: | Quote: | Why do fonts look blurry in Internet Explorer?
If screen fonts look different in Internet Explorer than they do in other parts of Windows (for example, if they're blurry or bolded), it might be because because of ClearType. ClearType is a software technology developed by Microsoft that improves the readability of text on Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) monitors, such as those used on laptops and flat panel screens. ClearType can sometimes appear blurry on Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) monitors or un-tuned LCD displays. By default, ClearType is always turned on in Internet Explorer, regardless of how Windows is configured, though you can change it.
If your fonts are not displaying as clear as you'd like, you can try optimizing ClearType for your monitor. Go to the Microsoft Typography ClearType (http://www.microsoft.com/typography/cleartype/tuner/Step1.aspx) website, and then follow the instructions for tuning ClearType. The website installs an ActiveX control to help you tune ClearType to your monitor, or you can download a tool that can be used offline instead.
If you still do not like the how ClearType looks in Internet Explorer and you want to turn it off, follow these steps to have Internet Explorer use the same settings as Windows. Once you do this, you can turn ClearType off (or back on) by using the Windows Control Panel.
To have Internet Explorer use the same ClearType settings as Windows- In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
- Click the Advanced tab, scroll to the Multimedia section, clear the Always use Clear Type for HTML check box, and then click OK.
The changes will take effect the next time you start Internet Explorer.
| Hope that helps. Promise to wear my shining amour next time. Adds to the whole effect.

Thank you thank you thank you! Here's the stupid thing... I remember checking that Clear Type thing when IE first loaded, but when I went into the settings it was unchecked. I figured that was the problem so I checked it and restarted IE (completely closed ALL tabs and the active window). Nothing looked different. Grrr. So I went to that website you provided and though it isn't AS clear as IE6, at least it isn't hurting my eyes. I have an LCD monitor (LOVE IT!) so I shouldn't have had a problem but regardless at least now I can see!
