Was on my way to C.J. When I noticed what seemed to be a little toon strike at the door?? NO its another way to hold River. So this is why it takes me forever to get there!!!
I think this is because when you walk up to the door, and you aren't able to go in you get a dialog box come up, if you have don't click it, it must not go away, much like other ways of staying online
Dang...that really stinks. Toontown now has another problem to fix.
Yes it does stink, but the good news is that Disney has really been cracking down on this stuff and putting in lots of fixes to stop tricks like that. They should close this loophole soon. (crosses fingers)
Hey, Nanner and I noticed that there were low laff toons standing at the CFO door the other day. She mentioned it, and all I thought was that they were "TAXI toons"...must have been people parking. Well, I guess they are still taxi toons...

Well, another way Disney could fix the traffic jam is to offer a few more districts with invasions.
They already do. Toons call the invasions, with very few exceptions. Toons are in control of which district is an invasion district. They're just too stingy to use them so they all want in one district. What people really want is for TT to increase the number of people allowed in one district. Doesn't look like that's going to happen, so they would rather whine about it. Much easier to blame TT.
Yeah, Been there done that with this discussion at TTC, LOL.
Whenever I have tried to get in River lately it only take a few minutes, so I haven't seen a problem. Then again I don't normally try to get in there so I'm not really the best judge!
File a bug report saying:
" I tried to go into the CJ battle in LawHQ with my toon who does not have a suit.
My toon stays parked in front of the door and never logs out. Goodness gracious, what should I do?
I will try going into other Headquarters without my suit to see how long I can stay logged in without doing anything."
I filed a few myself.... On test and open. Such a horrible bug, I hope they fix it soon so I can go back to being logged out like you are supposed to!
Because there is a laff point limit at the door and a suit requirement..a box comes up and says u cant go in la lala..u dont close out the box you dont go to sleep. I went w my little toon and it didnt kick me off. Also was told when u go in to the elevator if u dont have a promotion you can stay on if you dont click the box. Havent tried it yet.
After reading your guys' posts, I'm afraid I might stand alone with my opinion, but I'll risk it. On my first toon, I didn't know about invasions districts and I worked my gags the old fashioned way, which took forever. I'm working a couple more toons right now (one uber), almost exclusively in River, and I am astonished at how fast it goes. I've accomplished in a matter of weeks what took me months to do the first time around. My biggest toon is a big wig, but not a 50 yet. I get an invasion and I end up using it right away (not always in River), and if I'm lucky, maybe I'll store up two invasions before I need to use one. Most of the time I can't call an invasion because I don't have one. I'm working on my second set of 14,400 jury notices right now before I can CJ again and get another invasion (hopefully). There's no way I'll go to a non-invasion district to get the 14,400 jury notices--it's a nightmare getting them in River, and River literally cuts my jury notice marathon to something like 9 hours instead of 18--huge difference. Someday, when I'm a big wig 50, I'll CJ my heart out and get a bunch of invasions and use them to help my friends. Until then, I need in River so that I can actually reach that point.
I'm in the Pacific time zone and by the time I get on TT after work, River's full, even after all the recent changes. Occasionally it turns green on a weekday, but several times recently I couldn't get in no matter how hard I tried. I jumped for joy when I realized why all those babies were standing at the CJ door last week--I can get into River again!! At least until they fix this one. WOO HOO! It's gonna be short lived, but it's sweet while it lasts.
What I'm afraid is up next is really complicated macros to hold River, which I'll constrain myself from doing (partially because I don't know how, but mainly because I don't want to get my account suspended/pulled), and I'll once again be stuck outside of River unless I play in the middle of the night.
So, is it selfish to hold River for myself (and my friends)? Yes. But eminently practical and, from my standpoint, the benefits far outweigh the negative aspects. I'm betting some of you guys aren't going to agree with me on this and I'm truly not trying to offend anyone (nor am I trying to exclude anyone by holding River for me, even though I recognize that's the end result), but I just had to put my two cents worth out there. Feel free to challenge me on this--I love a good argument!
Since you love a good argument I do take issue with the word "need". No one NEEDS River.
If you WANT River, go for it. I do think it's selfish to hold River for long periods of time. At least you admit it's selfish. Most people only seem to think it's selfish if others are doing it. If I have to go check dinner or deal with a kid I can walk by and make my toon move or ask the kids to do it for me. That's nothing I wouldn't do no matter which district I'm in. Sure, it's practical for you to hold River. Sure, the benefits outweigh the negatives, for YOU! Just as long as you can call it what it is.
I think your point of view is actually more popular than mine, because it seems most people think they "need" River so they're willing to overlook the means. No one wants anyone else to hold it but they don't mind doing it themselves (or their friends). It's OK to be selfish, I guess, if it benefits you.
I actually prefer to work my toons the old fashioned way. I find getting to a certain point on any toon to be a letdown, and I don't see any need or desire to rush. When I am working notices, etc. with friends I do go to River because that's what they want. I will take advantage of a friend who is already there to get a ride, sometimes. But I'm just as happy to watch the book till it turns green.
I worked most of Quigley's merits solo because I didn't want to rush them with invasions, just my personal choice, but sure enough as I knew would happen, for ME, the key was a letdown.
I realize that not many share that viewpoint (in fact I have yet to meet a single person who does!). It's mine alone and doesn't make me right or anyone else wrong. Do what makes YOU happy, it's your game, but it would be nice if people wouldn't invent new ways to get around what TT is TRYING to do to help.

You obviously understand both sides of the issue. You're right, what it boils down to is selfishness, and yes, the end result is that each person holding a spot in river when not actually playing is preventing another player from getting extra merits/bux/notices, and they need them just as much as you do. The primary reason it's so hard to get into River is because of people holding spots while AFK. Each time they shut down the latest "trick", it gets easier to get in for a while, until people figure out another trick.
Solutions? Don't contribute to the problem; free up spots for others when you're not playing. Keep an active friends list - you can always get into River if you have friends there. Summit is nearly as good as River for invasions, and easier to get into, so play there and encourage it as the second invasion district by calling your own invasions there.
You can choose to be a part of the problem, or a part of the solution. I for one support Disney's efforts to solve the problem.
The invasion districts are important to me. I run in River all of the time. I usually have a friend that has a toon that I can always TP to, and am so thankful for that.
I have to add that not having an invasion district has been the reason that I've not been on test lately. When you need those big merits and bux, it is just no fun to do factory after factory (28 is it to get 5,500?). Usually on test, you need to run them yourself. I do miss invasions when I'm on test. I have missed my Sunday nite Brown Monkey Troop VPs/CFOs. It sure was nice to play with you again guys.
Good point! I might have to give you that one. And I hate losing arguments! But there's an awfully fine line between "want" and "need," especially when it means hours of duplicated effort outside of River.

Are you sure? That might have been true back in the days when a hundred toons were jumping in DDL, but we're talking about a couple dozen toons parked at a door. Can two dozen toons keep River red all evening? I doubt it. I'd be willing to bet that TT could take away every method of holding River and it would still be red simply because it's the popular district and everybody wants in. It would be red with live bodies instead of a couple dozen parked bodies, but it would still be red and I still couldn't get in (without a friend already there). I think the best plan of attack TT could take would be to not allow TP access to someone already in River when River is full. That would truly spread toons out to other districts out of sheer necessity (and make a lot of people mad in the process). I plan on doing my part to spread the invasion wealth around once I'm a big wig 50 and can actually call multiple invasions without spending hours in the DA's office inbetween.
