I've got organic maxxed throw on one of my toons, and the bday cake will usually take out a lured 11. I've noticed before that sometimes a level 11 cog surprises me and survives, and yesterday I watched it happen several times in the DA's office. Usually my bday cake will take out an 11 on the far right or the far left of a row of four cogs, but not the middle two, which I assume is due to lure bonus differences. However, yesterday we're facing a row of four cogs, I bday cake the 11 on the left, someone lures and two toons take out the cog on the right with squirt. Doesn't work--the 11s still standing. Try it again on another floor, same cog levels, two guys use squirt, someone lures, I bday cake the left 11. Works fine--cog dies. I couldn't see any differences between the two, and I sure wish I knew why sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It's possible that we had to lure twice (the first lure might have failed)--do you lose the lure bonus in that event? I'm going to try it again and again now just to see if I can figure out what exactly is going on when it doesn't work, but I thought I'd pick your guys' brains, too.

We never lost lure either time. The only time we lost lure was when the cog was hit. I'm puzzled by this too. I hope the experts have a question. BTW, the Level 12 Skele was tagged both times as well.

The only guaranteed lure bonus is on the tagged cog (which is why you don't want to tag the 12).
You've really got to watch for whether you get the orange lure bonus damage points or not to be sure what is happening.
The tag/lure bonus is also the reason you don't throw TNT in front of the tagged cog. No sense wasting the only 'for sure' lure bonus on a trap gag!

This is news to me, so let me make sure I understand what you're saying. The stuff I've read says the lure bonus applies to the tagged cog and the "last cog standing" (and it does seem to work that way in the factory). And I've wondered why other cogs seem to be getting the orange bonus, too. So you're saying that any lure bonuses other than on the tagged cog are random? Or is there some rhyme and reason to it?
And then the only reason you don't want to tag the 12 is so that somebody with an organic cake can take out the tagged 11 on the right?

I once emailed TT about not getting the bonus on lured cogs. Their response was....it is not guarenteed and random.
Oh and they also suggested I update my drivers.

Tagged cog (right) and last one standing will get it, but on others it is random. You can take a chance, but sometimes you take your hits as well.

Yep, that is why it drives me crazy when people use trap on the far right cog... it loses that lure bonus. That is the only one that I've found that is guaranteed to get that lure bonus. Otherwise, it is just a surprise whether it is there or not. Maybe updating my drivers would help. lol Gotta love that organic cake when you get the bonus!

Correct me if I'm wrong you older toons- but didn't it used to be that you could get lure bonus for all the cogs.
I've seen an cake and cream pie NOT take out 11s. That always confuses me.

I'm really lost/unsure/confused on this issue.
So I shouldn't use trap on the far right cog at any time?
What do you mean by lure bonus--is this extra points when the cog is killed by the person who lures?
My primary toon has trap, no lure, however, my second toon has lure, no trap but I'm still in the "learning" stage of understanding strategy with lure other than keeping the cogs from hitting us--especially after what I have read.
Is there a strategy page I should look up?
Thanks!!

As far as I know you only get it for all cogs in a boss battle, although very rarely I see a cog NOT get it in there. It also applies to all street cogs.
Cake and cream pie should always take out an 11. I would guess the cake isn't maxed if that happens, because mathematically (*shudder*) it does the job even without the bonus.

Lady Snappy - there are times when it doesn't matter about lure and the right cog.
But, we are generally talking mints and DA offices here. When you run into the cogs (and won't be using sound), you want to tag a level 10 if there is one. That means one toon can take him out with the non-organic cake because he will get the lure bonus damage (the orange number you see when he is hit). One toon lures and the other 2 toons either toon or take out a second cog. Some toons prefer you tag the level 10 that is the same type as another level 10 so you know which ones are level 11s but I sometimes can't think that fast .
Then, when you hit the 11s, you want to TNT one of the middle cogs because, again, a toon with organic cake can take out the rightmost cog alone because of the lure bonus. Of course, all of this is for toons that are really into efficiency . But, when you are running DAs, it is somewhat expected behavior. And, again, that is why you don't tag the level 12 cog in the final battle. No real purpose in ensuring the lure bonus on him.

I've also noticed that frequently, but not always, if you trap (and kill) one of the middle cogs, you will get the lure bonus on all the rest of the cogs.

I've only recently heard about lure bonus. And even then, I've been tagging the big guy. To all that have run with me in the DA, and Mints, I offer my apologies. Thank you for the thread and these responses. This has helped me a bunch.

Tommy, I don't think I've ever run with you but I for one never stress over it. Not everyone reads game forums and not everyone (like my husband!) cares about stuff like this. I adjust and have fun. I hope no one has given you grief over it!
One of my pet peeves is the assumption of people's degree of idiocy over things in a GAME.

Z,
Everyone that I have run with here has been (and continue to be) super! If I got any grief, it's been in all fun. When I apologized, it was not becuz of anyone's expressed grief, but for anyone that may have went "What the......?" at the screen with my gag choice. I tell folks when that happens to them "No Problem" and "Have Fun". I just need to follow my own advice.
