| LadyZ : | If the rules were spelled out clearly I wouldn't have a problem with them at all. After all it's their game and if we want to play we can follow the rules; just as on a website we can follow the rules or leave.
The problem is the rules are NOT clear. For instance it does not say you can't give out an e-mail or IM (or didn't used to anyway). "Personal info" is vague and means different things to different people. They need to decide what's not allowed, spell it out clearly and let us know exactly what our violation was when it happens, without us having to jump through hoops to get it. |
The rules are very vague, dots, are they flooding, spamming? I read the netiquite again as well as the terms. No where does it say you cannot use your keyboard keys to stay in the game. No third party products yes, but my keyboard is not a 3rd party product. You have to be psychic to figure out the rules. I have a friend caught one of his last fish and he started hitting random keys he was so excited. For suffering through endless hours of fishing and playing the game THEY created, he got suspended for language. The e-mail they sent him showed random characters.
As far as giving out personal information, they ADVISE not forbid. Everyone see this? It does not say forbid. They also say they do not moderate or supervise chat so I am led to believe what I say through true friend chat is confidential. Talk about entrapment or misrepresentation! Ahhhh they frustrate me!

| LadyZ : | | Scarlet : | That's a really good idea, the freebie account. I deleted a couple toons on another account though and moved things around already. Think Ill use the freebie idea for a couple extra black cats though! Never know when you might need an extra toon, right? Thank you!
|
Just a note: I don't think you can make black cats on a free account. You'll have to pay but the first month after a trial is only $5 so at least it buys you some time. |
I just made a black cat on a free account. No problem there.
Not sure about moving toons around. You only get 2 open toon windows so you can only create 2 toons per free account.

I saw it. In BLACK AND WHITE it states"While we advise members not to exchange personal information such as first and last names,e-mail adresses, postal adresses, or phone numbers while using True Friends, we cannot garuntee that such exchanges of personal information wil not happen." Then it talks about how Chat is NOT moderated, but instead filtered for offensive language. Maybe the filter thought it was so strange that it was suspicious so it sent the info. But how did the people at TT think it was bad?

| Lady Petunia Purplepop : | | I know that someone I am SF with said he got suspended because of chat with me (something again about location) but I didn't hear anything about it...so if you are going to suspend one person doesn't it make sense that you would suspend the person who you are talking to also?!? | I agree because (not to be like the two faces) it takes 2 to tango. 2 2 2 2 2!!! Remember 2! Rarely does just one person get involved in a problem unless its an emotional problem.

I agree, I think they need to make their rules considerably more clear. I also know someone who was suspended for counting bukctes while fishing. I know so many people do this with a bubble over their head to keep track of fish caught. Personally I dont as I never fish more than 1 or 2 buckets If they expect rules to be followed they need to make the rules clear.
On another site I visit it stated " It is strongly advised not to share accounts" To me this means they advise you don't but it isn't going to get you suspended etc. Wouldnt you know I got a warning for it. If you want people to follow the rules, make the rules clear.

This is really disturbing. If '....... (etc.)' is inappropriate language, ToonTown had better get ready for a bunch of unhappy subscribers. I wonder if '!!!!!!!!!" will result in suspension. Or '--------'. Or any of the other items. I haven't been able to logic out what emoticon could possibly be associated with a string of dots. I guess there are some things I'm just not going to be able to get my brain wrapped around. It would be an interesting action if all ToonTown's subscribers decided one day to chat-whisper all the things NOT listed in the articles and rules. In this politically correct age, they would lose their stuffing trying to respond to it all, I bet.

In the case of all the dots and the numbers for counting buckets, I assume they count that as spam or flood chatting, which they specifically do have in the rules and supposedly affects the server.
It's a mixed blessing that they are targeting this, IMO. On the one hand we all know how annoying it is to be in the middle of spam chatters. On the other hand I am afraid my little ones will get suspended for that someday because they can't spell!

My kids along with some of their friends like to hear the "owooooo" sound their toon makes so they will stand around together and hold down the O button.... normally is a 'quiet' district or at an estate. After a couple of minutes I get tired of hearing and tell them to stop.... Now I'm glad so I don't get into trouble...

Well, I may be slow but I finally caught on! At first, I thought the moderators had edited the banned words
My daughter is occasionally the spam chatterer, hope she doesn't get in too much trouble. Luckily, she is not on MY account!

I am sure it puts a minor amount of extra strain on the servers, but have you ever done a boss battle or mint, DA etc with someone who never stops talking??? LOL.. imagine what that player does to the servers. Much more than my 5 minutes of dots I would imagine.
My honest opinion on all this is they should focus on real problems, griefers, those who seriously try and harm people or serious infractions of the rules. Angering so many paying subscribers over silliness is just plain dumb. Disney needs to get larger and better servers to accommodate more rather than spending all their time and effort policing chat which they say in black and white they DO NOT!!!
I got my account back and am walking on eggshells because I know I am monitored now for a while. Hmmm.. a grown woman walking on eggshells, not exactly what I would consider fun.
And they want money for this??
