Complete Panic.... HELP!
View Single PostView Single Post

This is undoubtedly going to sound stupid, but I hate HATE hate doing Factories, Mints, etc. Everytime I've done a mint I've died (although I'm getting far more comfortable with factories now that I'm bigger). Apparently I suck at jumping and it's horrid trying to get me through any lava rooms, etc where jumping is a necessity. Anyway......... I needed to choose a new toontask and while doing so, my husband distracted me. I thought I was hitting cancel, but ended up accepting a task to do THIRTY cog mints!! THIRTY! and all for a lousy 1 point laff boost! You've got to be kidding me!

Is there any way at all to cancel a task you've accepted? I will never, ever, complete this task. I would hate for it to follow me around toontown the whole rest of the time I play here -you know kind of like that glaring reminder of a horrid failure? LOL yeah, yeah, I know... a bit overly dramatic, but I've really developed kind of a phobia about it! LOL

So, is there any way?

Awwww... I am so sorry that happened to you! Embarassed

Unfortunately, no there is no way to cancel a task, but I can promise you it will get better. When I first started I used to get lost in the factory, I was afraid to go in. Now I can run it with my eyes closed.

Mints, good grief! My daughter and I used to go in coins just to practice the obstacles and play in there until we hit the first set of cogs, then leave. This is an excellent way though of learning how to do the obstacles. Go to a slow district, depending in the floor you end up starting on there is a lot you can do before hitting your first set of cogs. Then leave and go back and do it again.

LolLolLolLol

If you are going to advance your toon and cfo, you will eventually get that task done. I was the same way but now jump through there with no effort at all.
Hang in there, you can do it!

Good luck!

I don't think there's any way to get out of a toon task, sorry! I've clicked on the wrong thing and accepted some pretty awful tasks before, too. If hubby won't run your toon through the mint for you 30 times (on account of his distracting you when you needed to focus - you might be able to milk that one), there are some things you can do to make the mint less daunting. Go in with toons who won't mind waiting (not with randoms). I'll go in there with you--you can take as long as you need. If it's the jumping-over-the-green-goo that's killing you, try going into the factory by yourself sometime, go to the paint room and practice over and over in the paint room (not the lava room). The jumps you have to make in the factory paint room are the same as the jumps you'll have to make over the green goo in the mint, except in the factory you only get hurt something like 3 at a time, whereas in the mint, it's more like 8. You can last a lot longer, and get a lot more practice in, in the factory paint room, and if you're by yourself, then there's no pressure. If you're not comfortable with soloing the factory the entire way, just TP out of there after you practice in the paint room.

If it's the jump-up-over-the-giant-gear-thing-in-the-middle-of-the-room-thing, you just need someone to show you where and when to jump--I was intimidated by this one the first time I encountered it--I made it over by luck as much as anything. If it's the room with the jump-from-one-thing-to-another-eventually-landing-on-a-stack-of-money-and-then-over-to-the-barrels, you can skip those jumps entirely if someone shows you where and how to glitch past them (stuff your toon in behind the ice-cream-cone barrel and open your sticker book--you'll find yourself in the grey--go left and you'll wind up where you want to be without having to make a single jump).

If you get a few mints in without anyone breathing down your neck, it truly won't be so bad. Just takes practice. And, believe it or not, by the time you get those 30 mints done, you won't be intimidated by the mint anymore. You might be really sick of it, but not intimidated!

As the others have stated I was also VERY intimated at going into the mint the first few times. I had some VERY patient toons go in with me and help me around and I'm getting the hang of the obstacles. You will after a few times through and if you need any help I'd be happy to go in with you anytime.

BTW, what is the paint room in the factory? I've been in the room where you go across the orange lava and get gags and jellybeans, but never heard of the paint room?

I will also go in with you and help you. I like doing the mints and factories!! Just pm me a code!

Lori ~ The paint room is in the factory. It's kind of like the green gooey room where you have to jump on circles. The circle things in the paint room go up and down and sideways. It's pretty tricky! The reward on the other side is jellybeans and gags. I think I've only made it on the other side once. Mostly because I don't exactly know where that room is.

30 Coin Mints? That task is pretty stinky....I had a friend that had it, and I was always wanting to do a bullion, and he'd say I need coin...BUT, if you have good friends minting with you, it shouldn't be too bad. Random coin mints are horrendious, you'll get all those little toons that don't know how to run a mint.

Good luck with those mints...

Oooooo! I'm sorry! I had 14 dollar mints, but 30 coin mints?! I couldn't stand it if I had to do that coin mint over 30 times! Shocked Don't worry, the mints will get better, and after time it will surely be a blast of fun! Very Happy They take forever, but the puzzles and obstacles will become easier the more you do them. Good luck! You can do it!

Do you have your cash suit yet? If so, you'll complete the task getting your bucks for CFOs.

I will never forget my first time in the mint in the room with the big gear in the center and the stomper thingy. We had the whole family try, we were fighting over how to do it and each of saying I'll get it THIS time! After about 30 minutes, I think it was one of the girls that finally got us through. Fortunately, we were with some very patient random toons. Then we had the big stacked gear room and another half hour LOL. I think we were ready to quit TT over those mints Shocked

I don't have any toons that need bucks anymore Very Happy , but would be glad to help guide you through the obstacles. I've mostly had good experiences going through with randoms. I'm not the hold up anymore, but I've had the other random toons I've been with be very encouraging and patient when we've been with one that clearly was new to the mints.

She was great and very patient... I too will go through with you any time.. Practice really does help... Can't say I am perfect at them sometimes I just guess I don't want to jump.... But the more I do it the better I get... I am extremely patient and know the glitches to get past that doozey jumping room!!

Thanks everyone for all of the understanding! I feel like such a dweeb! LOL I even offered my son $15 if he'd do it for me and he said no! LOL Then he said yes.... then he said no.... then he said well, okay maybe. LOL I do have my cash suit and have done the big guy there (the CFO?) once. One of the people in with me kicked me off the crane right at the beginning so I didn't get to try that, and all I was left with was jumping on those little robot thingies - well, we know I can't jump well and I was freaking out a bit so my 8 year old little girl jumped on and did it for me! LOL I would definately like to try that again though! I went back and read the task again. It is 30 mints in the Cashbot Dollar Mint. That made a huge difference to my son when I read it to him so I'm assuming that makes a difference for everyone else? Sheesh... for as 'old' as I am on here you'd think I could actually do these tasks! I don't even have my Sellbot suit yet! teehee! I am working on that one though now that I know not to be scared of the factory.

What a loser! LOL As soon as I have some time I will definately take you ALL up on your offers of help on this!

Thanks so much!!!

Awwww...you're definitely not a loser. I think it's awesome that you posted this, and asked for help. Very Happy Dollar mints are better than coins, more bux.

I have a friend that took that task on one of his toons, it took him months before he finally decided to get going on it. I don't think he realized that he wouldn't get his law suit until it was completed. Once he did start, he got it finished rather quickly.

I think you'll do just fine, take the help...that's for sure! Very Happy

Perhaps a lil story is needed as a Cheer-you-up fix.

My wife:
When our family first started playing TT, it was the boys who were interested. When they wanted us to play, it was my wife who would join them. When they lost interest, she didn't. All went well til that dreaded first factory task. she was TERRIFIED! She got a group of toons to help that she didn't know. When one of them went through (bumped through before it opened) the door and she couldn't, she TP'd out.

My troubles::
My first time in the mint put me in the Rotating Gear w/ Wall Room. Took me forever to get up and over that (chooses words carefully) "challenging" obstacle. In the room where it's jumping from platform to platform, I was reduced to slobbering gibberish foolery with frustration.

The summary:
Don't give up. Keep practicing. Run with the patient winners like those who post here and play. There are excellent posts here about strategies and techniques concerning the various HQ's. Good Luck!
