I've had this theory for awhile now. I just wanted to see if anyone else has noticed?
My theory is when you are at the halfway point to the next gag, you accuracy decreases to single digit precentages.


This is my example: My test toon Spike is working drop. He was at 250/500 on the anvil. He could not hit the broad side of the barn, if his life depended on it and he was throwing the grand piano. He happened to catch an invasion. Ran and got all the little drop gags he could, after most of the invasion he reached 270 and then suddenly the drop gag would hit almost every single time.

I still didn't make it to the next gag before the end of the invasion but I'm finally getting somewhere. Yes, I finally did decide to plant this track.

I've noticed this event through several toons and several toon friend's gag progression.

I do think accuracy decreases markedly when you're close to getting the next one. I've noticed this on several toons!

I DID notice that with every gag, and it's very noticable with the gags that have a low level of accuracy. That's why I mostly used my lure when I was fishing cogs on the street by myself. It gets pretty embarrassing to miss in the building when other toons depend on your gag. Now it's all good... Almost.
