I came across an e-mail today: "Weird Things You Never Knew." Stuff like "Butterflies taste with their feet." "Elephants are the only animals that can't jump." The one that caught my attention was "A duck's quack doesn't echo, and no one knows why." I'm wondering why a quack wouldn't echo, so I looked it up just to see if it was true. A university research team proved in 2003 that quacks echo just like any other sound given the right echoing environment. "A duck quacks rather quietly, so the sound coming back is at a low level and might not be heard."

NOW WAIT A MINUTE! The ducks on TT have to be the LOUDEST species out there. That quacking is akin to fingernails on a chalkboard! So now I'm wondering, which TT species do you find the most annoying? What makes you reach for the volume control?

I picked monkey because anything that ends with a ! sounds like they are yelling at me. I actually hate all of the sounds except for bunnies and horses. Dogs aren't that bad either. Ironically, I mostly have cats, and I cannot stand the sound of other cats when they meow, meow, meow.

Cats...that OWOOO is just painful to listen to at times. The horse laugh has got to be the funniest sound I've ever heard on toon town followed closely behind by the pig. But EVERYONE knows that Bears have the most regal of sounds.

No clue. I have my sound off at all times. (except for a short time when bears came out and I had to hear what everyone was talking about) I have never even heard the TT music. I am SURE you must be mistaken about the duck noises! Are you confusing them with maybe ohhhhh mice?

With my sincerest apologies to Tommy....I have to pick Bear. When they came out is when I started playing with no sound.

Ducks. Followed closely by Monkeys. Some of my best friends are ducks, and I have my own sweet monkey, but that doesn't change the facts!

MST, does a cat really sound like a cranky second grade teacher?? I don't think so. I like the cat -- a lot! Mice are my favorite, soundwise. Try saying the "Grrr!" with a mouse. heehee!

i choose mouse! as a mouse i know it's a bit backwards for me to say that, but listening to the squeek! everytime i say or do anything really does make me wanna get out the ear plugs!

Geesh how did I miss a chance to pick ducks as most annoying all day long. Just got to sit down so I'd of course say ducks are by the far the worst to listen to. It is almost amusing in a weird way though. Now if this poll were reversed the mice are by far the best sounding of all the toons. Followed closely by dogs second. Although my favorite Owooo has to be rabbits. When my son was still playing I'd do his Owooo all the time. I think I annoyed quite a few people with it. Yes, I know that is hard to believe.

I think the cats sound like any whining child. Can I get my five dollars??

I had to choose bear. I have a weak stomach, and listening to the bear always makes me nauseous. I had to start playing with the sound off also.

I'd have to say bears... dont know why... and no offense to all the bears(especially Carrie!)...
but the belching ... yeah! thats what it sounds like LOL
I just love the way the mouse sounds and my bunny makes me crack up whenever she owooooo !

The cat is all powerful, all knowing and cool, calm and collective....
pigs are just so cute... horses are funny... dogs always sound in distress....

bears no offense to my bear tt friends

Ok maybe I'm weird, maybe it's all the constant noise in this house but I am not really anoyed by the animal noises. Most of them still make me laugh. And my son has bee playing tt a lot more lately and he insists on turning the music on - I thought it would drive me crazy, but I rather like it on all the time. When I am playing on the laptop, I turn the sound down low (sometimes off) so I can hear tv - I miss SO much. I love when it's just me playing tt with no background noise so I can hear the cat, dog, mouse, bear, pig, bunny, duckie, horse and monkeys!

Gotta say the mice and rabbits get on my nerves the most. I generally have the volume down too unless I need to hear for jumping puposes. But what struck me as funny this morning and definitley confirmed that I need a life is that here we are discussing animal noises and which is our favorite or not. Is there something askew about this discussion??? Oh well, carry on since this is the only life I have I guess I will keep it.
