Hey, don't apologize for asking questions, everybody here, at one point or another, was "new" and had/has questions. 
I am assuming you clicked on the link that Varmint posted and have a lot of your questions answered. (?)
I do have one TEST account and 2 OPEN accounts. I do play TEST mostly, but the draw of the lovely people from here at TTF, have me being pulled back to OPEN more and more. When you have friends to go with on OPEN, it makes it so much better... Or so I think. When I go with "randoms," (ppl I don't know on OPEN), well, sometimes they can be very unpredictable, just like in RL. After all, there are ppl behind those toons. TEST is a smaller community with only 2 districts to choose from. And with fewer toons, ppl get to know eachother there, even if not SF's.
I like testing out the new stuff before it comes to OPEN because, well... I want it and I want it NOW, lol? *shrugs* I am a hard worker in RL and I guilt myself for sitting on my rear end and "playing," instead of doing work around the house or in my community. On TEST I justify it in my own head that I am 'serving a purpose' by playing, lol... Because I am searching for and reporting the bugs/problems, so when the new features come out on OPEN, players will have a better playing experience. (How sad... okay, perhaps that's on the verge of pathetic... is that? ROFL)
Both OPEN and TEST have their pro's and con's, but with great friends on your list, it's all good!
