During a non-cog invasion toon ask me to wait when we are in the factory at the top. One room left to beat it. Then they start looking though the book why is that. Does the book tell you when an invasion is about to happen?

Nope. You have the ability to summon an invasion in your book. You win summons when you fight the CJ. You find the reward in your book on the cog radar page.

Frequently they are checking to see if they have one or are willing to use one since that last battle in the mint/factory/da/golfcourse gets you double merits/bux/thingies etc during the invasion..doesn't matter what happened up til then just that one. ( I think that's right)

Yes, that is correct. Also, you can tell whether or not an invasion is happening at that point if they can/cannot summon one themselves.
