National Afghanistan and Iraq Memorial

The following is a letter that I received today from a very good friend and army wife, if this is something that you can support I urge you to take action. Thanks!

Beth

Dear Friends,

I recently began doing some research to honor a friend of mine whose husband was killed in Iraq. I called to inquire about The National Afghanistan and Iraq Memorial to make sure it was indeed an honest tribute to our heroes and to find out details about how the donations are spent.

I talked with Jason Savage, a true Patriot who took on this idea and has followed the laws tirelessly and selflessly so that a memorial could be created. He enlightened me on reasons for slow progress and lack of interest in this cause. You probably will not be surprised with what he shared with me.

Location was his first setback because of laws that have been on the books to prevent memorials from being built in or around D.C. This memorial has been approved to be built on 16 acres in Oklahoma City; Thunderbird Park. Each hero who has lost his or her life will be shown with a photo and a personal tribute, celebrating their life and displaying their courage.

The second (and massive) obstacle in getting the message out about this monument has been getting the media's attention to help promote this endeavor. He has even tried reaching Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly, knowing the liberal press would not be on board with showing respect and gratitude to people who have given the ultimate sacrifice in this war. Is it not a big enough story?

Anyone who knows me understands my need not to let this rest. I am asking each of you to do something simple in order to create attention in this matter. Here are some ways you can help:
1. Pass this one on the way it needs to be so that we get the message out.
2. Help support this cause by calling 919-662-1850 and finding out more or go on-line at www.freedommemorials.org.
3. Call our friends, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity and ask them why they haven't wanted to speak to Jason about this on behalf of our military families.
4. E-mail them and ask why they haven't returned his calls or letters requesting for help. http://www.hannity.com/contactus.asp and oreilly@foxnews.com.

I urge you not to allow complacency in your heart to move on without doing something. I thank you for understanding that "supporting our troops" involves providing, maintaining, advocating for, and bearing the weight for families who have been left behind, as well.
