Why toontown is down
View Single PostView Single Post

Sceen one: It is Monday at Disney's Online Games department. Ernie, Fred and Trixie are working their usual shift (11pm to 6 am Pacific time) supervising all of Disney's online games. Trixie has been working for Disney since November and is obsessed with anything to do with Pirates, Fred has been working for Disney since 1998 and loves all online games, especially Toontown and Ernie (fresh out of computer programming school and knows everything) has been working for Disney since the week before Bossbot came out.

Fred: Hey Ernie, hows that new update doing on Toontown Test--you know the one with the font change?

Ernie (stuffing a blueberry muffin in his mouth): Hmph [gulp] Its perfect!! I haven't gotten one bug report. I think we should go ahead and put it on open. I told you everyone would love this update--I created it myself, remember.

Trixie: Did you fix that one thing in the program that might make the whole toontown servers shut down if you don't put in the code correctly before you upload it?

Ernie (scratching his head): Uhhh, yeah! I sure did. [mumbles to himself--what does she think she knows about MY update? She just works on Pirates, Pirates, Pirates!!].

Fred: Don't you think we should run this font update on test a little longer? I've been trying to fix all these issues with black/green screens in bossbot hq and want to get that done first.

Ernie: NO!!!! Um, no, I'm sure its ready--you know its not too complicated of a program update and it should be fine. Besides Uncle Herbert said I could. [in know-it-all-voice] You know....my Uncle Herbert--the guy who pays you and writes up your reviews?

Trixie: *rolls eyes*

Fred: Okay. Whatever you say.

EXACTLY!!! may i suggest for the last line that Ernie mumbles to himself out of earshot of the other two;

ERNIE: Besides...if anything happens we'll just tell them it was their drivers that caused the problem and they should update them after we fix it.

I suspect Ernie also calls his friends Luigi and Vigo to facilitate damage control notices and "customer response" feedback.

ROFL....that was great!!

I personally don't like the new font and what's the point? I don't get it, wasn't it fine the way it was? Can't they work on something that is actually pertinent to the game???

Same thing happens at the reservation center,

6:50am Say we just loaded the tickets for the Halloween and Christmas party into the system yesterday. (at least we THINK we loaded all the dates in....) Let's start selling them today and see if everything works ok and let's not tell ANYONE what the prices are so we can "surprise and delight" cast and guest alike!

7:01am 100+ calls waiting....we cant process credit cards?
7:15am 300 calls waiting....not all of the dates are in the system?
8am 114 calls waiting...can you please give us a call back in a few hours and everything will be back up and running.
10:30am all is working.... 100 calls waiting.

So you see Toontown is not the exception to the rule.
