I saw this on the Disboard and could not believe it. Just thought I would share. It would stink to be this mom and don't you know these kids would be fun to spend a week with!
The little one I doubt understands. She's reacting to the middle (can I say brat)? The oldest one needs to be sent back home or stay in the hotel room during the trip. The middle one I think would come around once he got there. Learning experience for Mom for sure! (not counting the oldest one) don't surprise kids with things they could possibly be clueless about? Then again the oldest may think it's all about little kid stuff? That's one thing we don't know. How informed are these kids about DW?
I just have to say Bless that poor mom's heart.
I agree-the middle kid would have come around once he got to DW and the youngest was just reacting. I think the older kid needed to be informed--like help with the surprise for the younger ones and be told what MGM/Hollywood studios is like (appeals to a lot of teens).
Oh well, I guess we can learn from other parent's mistakes.
Bless her heart.
i dunno....i mean really....dick's house must really really be fun! I mean...all three kids would rather go there than disney...doesnt that make you wonder?? What is with this best kept secret called dick's house?? I might want to go there instead too!
I do have some empathy for the kids. As we've noted - Dick's house could really be fun and they must know what that is like. You've been telling them for weeks (or whatever) that is where they are going. Now, after being in the car and driving all night, you spring that you are really going to DisneyWorld? I, personally, do not like change or surprise . I like the planning.
Thanks for the laugh this morning. I was thinking the same thing about this guy's house. Why not just have Dick come too?? Kids might have been more excited then. I do wonder how it will turn out when they get there. I think the kids will come around and if not drop them at Dicks and the parents can go and have fun.
I'm with PTT, I want to go to Dick's house too!!! LOL
I wonder if it wasn't staged, what kid doesn't want to go to Disney?!? Strange. Maybe the mother told them they were going to this infamous Dick's house under the pretense of surprising them with Disney, still my kids would have ditched Dick for Mickey!
OH my word! I can't believe those kid's reaction. Maybe it was because they spent the whole night in the car. Who doesn't want to go to Disney World ? I'm a great grandmother and I still get excited everytime I get to go. It never gets too old or dull for me. Send me their passes.
Not touching the Dick subject...nope not saying a word! Hey Zippy....I have some old friends on the Disboards. (or at least they use to be there.....)? Hmmm I wonder if you ran a "Nanner" past them if anyone would respond? I should go check it out again, since it's been years, and see if any are still around.
I sneak into DisBoards to see what the latest rumor is.
My fav part of the video is the really supportive other adult female saying, I told you. These poor kids look so tired and the older one looks drugged.
I can't keep a secret. I have to tell the surprise.
My initial impression is to turn around and go home! Ungrateful kids is a huge pet peeve of mine!
On the other hand it sounds like she got them all worked up about going to Dick's house. My kids are thrilled about our upcoming vacation and I think it would be cruel of me to suddenly change the plans, even for Disney. Little kids especially thrive on routine. I know my Mom would say I would have had the same reaction if she did that to me at that age. She should have just not told them where they were going, tell them it's a surprise, rather than build up a fake vacation.
As for the older kid, he looked like it was a setup.
There are enough people getting onto Good Morning America and stuff with stuff like silly eBay ads and stuff. Wouldn't surprise me if any of these were a try for something like that
